I recently replaced my IBS with the new version as well, hoping to fix my electrical issue (missing ibs, missing alternator, missing water pump) I also read on forums that you should un-hook the little blue connector on the ibs and it’s not supposed to be plugged in- we be careful on taking such advice because IT IS supposed to be hooked up!

The new IBS part # isn't listed in the description? I've had mine disconnected for about 2 years, and I think it was disconnected because it's faulty (causing more battery drain!)

hi there, been watching your videos new subscriber, new to owning a bmw. im having a battery drain issue. ive went through all my fuses and i hadnt found a thing. replaced my alternator and even tried at one point to unplug ibs. still my battery will not stay charged. can you help me give me some advice ? do you think replacing the ibs is something that coulld be causeing my issue? when started will run and drive no problem. will not stay charged for a full day though.
Hi pal I’m looking for some advice I bought a e93 325d and it sat in drive over Xmas when I came to start it I had the car on ramp warning plus excessive battery drain. I bought a smart charger which I then manage to charge battery to 60% then charger three error code . I tried starting car and it ticked over for a minute but didn’t start I had a volt meter in the lighter socket and watched the battery drain to 8v with 2 lots of turn overs . I’m now wondering do I try changing alternator or buy a new battery ???
Will this block the smog shop scanner from reading the car? I recently bought a 335i and can’t pass smog for that reason. I got the ibs missing code do you think that is why the smog can’t read my car?

Hi mate, I have a 320d e91, and the battery is currently an 80Ah agm type about 2.75 years old. It is reading 12.2v on the internal car computer. If I remove the battery and do a full recharge and restoration cycle, and put it back into the car is there a need to reprogram it to the car, or because it is the same battery can I just plug in a go with no re-program required? So will the car think it is new and need some reprogramming? FYI I have moved closer to work in the last year and a half so my trips are a fair bit shorter these days which is no doubt not helping maintain battery charge and another reason why I want to remove and charge in house (no drive and no garage to use for this).
Would this cause my battery not to charge I have replaced the alternator with a reconditioned on but still no joy in it charging the plug on the alternator is reading 7.6volts and goes up to 8 but allways drops any idea what could be causing this thanks
Hello, I am writing to you from Italy. Why did you change the cable, what problems was the car giving you? Did the problem still occur after the replacement? my problem is that 1 or 2 times a year the machine does not want to turn on anymore. then I do the bridge with another battery and I have no more problems. my battery is new.

Hey dean. I have a 2015 428i gran coupe. My alarm was randomly going off. My key fob won’t unlock the car. It won’t do anything. I manually unlocked the car with the key. Got in my car to try and start it. No power. Nothing. Tested the battery. It said 3.4 volts. It’s a brand new Bosch AGM battery. About a month old. I took the negative cable off the post. I test the battery again. It’s at 10.3 volts. Slowly climbs up the longer I wait. I reconnect the negative cable and I get power. Run to the driver seat. I get some lights. Try to start the car. Nothing. Tick tick tick tick Test the battery again 3.4 volts. The car was driving and operating fine earlier in the day. No lights came on. No messages on my idrive. Nothing. Could this be the IBS sensor? Please help

Hello Bmw Doctor, I have a Bmw e60 530i petrol 2003, I installed the new battery 5 months ago and I didn't know that I should register it and when I leave it without turning on for 2 to 3 days, it loses all electricity and does not turn on.
My ibs 2006m5 had seatbelt code I checked connections then clears codes now no code battery drains to 9 volts car barley starts? If I don't turn car off with 2 push of off button car stays on dash stays active? If I run radio car engine off it turns off after few minutes ? Also rad fan runs 2 minutes when hot and turned off? 243,000km no major work done engine fine.

On my BMW e60 525d 2005, the battery drains overnight, but only when it rains. Even in colder weather, everything works normally. The battery is discharged at the first rain. Thanks for the reply

Good evening. Wonder if you can help please! I have a 2006 e63 630 with n52 engine. I have no way of checking oil level. The idrive option isn’t there in the menu where it normally is near the service menus. I have no option on the BC stalk either..... any idea!? Oil level sensor could be faulty but I did get a low level light last week, topped up and it’s gone. I would just like to see the oil level from the usual menus. Thank you
Mine was doing a similar thing, I don’t have idrive, but in the BC menu I could still try to check it but would say “INACTIVE”. My problem was intermittent, I would still get low oil level warnings but was unable to check the level at times. Sometime you could check it and sometimes would get the error saying “INACTIVE”. Unfortunately I can’t tell you what my problem was as it on my old engine and it worked fine after I swapped a new engine - so I’m guessing mine was the sensor itself. The oil sensor IS on the same can system as the alternator, water pump, and IBS, so an issue with one of those could cause an oil sensor problem.
If you don’t have ISTA, I would recommend changing the oil sensor at your next oil change with a genuine bmw or OE sensor (Hella is the OE i do believe)
J. Walters' Trucking thank you very much. I’m taking it to my brothers garage in a few days to take the tray under the engine off. Have a good look what’s going and to change the oil. I’ll see if I can find the sensor and perhaps source one before I change the oil! My concern is that it’s just an older car and may drink oil, just want to keep on top of it before it runs dry! My E60 530i from 2004 has been draining the battery.. does it mean that my IBS sensor doesn't work then??

Hi and thank you for the video. I have had a battery problem on my BMW X3 2016, battery only charging to 70% ish. ( 12.3 volts ) As the alternator gives an open circuit of 14.9volts with the engine running I assumed it was a failing battery and replaced it with a 105ah battery and coded/registered new battery. Same problem exists and the old battery came up to 12.7volts on a battery charger. I disconnected the IBS and the after a short trip (in the car) the battery charged back up to 12.7volts. So, here's the problem. How do I know if it is the IBS that is at fault or is it the DME? Also, how did we manage the last 80 years with just a voltage regulator on a dynamo or alternator which is easy to diagnose and repair? Regards Chris.👍
It's another daft BMW design flaw to keep the dealerships busy with repairs. Along with leaking coolant expansion tanks, vanos servicing, nox sensor replacements etc etc

I'm late to this one but I just got an E60 and getting the increased discharge message. ISTA tells me I have intermitent lost communication with random modules. I was digging around in the trunk and found the two IBS >> DME wires had been cut and then twisted together very badly. I properly spliced them back together but still getting that message. Could my IBS be fried with that shoddy wiring job? I've got the updated part with the adapter on the way.
Some idiot also cut the ones in my car. I don't even see the gray and white/blue wires on the harness. Going to have to investigate more when I get some time, but it's going to be tragic if I can't find where the female connector is/was.

Hey Dean, I got a beautiful e61 last week and kept getting high current drain messages every morning, but I was able to start the car until one morning I wasn't. I connected the battery charger and left it for couple hours. Next morning I'm able to start the car and I drove off to have the car washed (with engine bay), all in all 20-30mins. I'm getting ready to drive off and the car doesn't start. I was able to start the car after a couple of hours of charging previous night, drove for 30mins, left it sitting for 20 and then it wouldn't start. I attach booster, nothing. I connect another car and leave it for few mins, car starts. Battery currently at 12V after three days since it happened. So if the IBS is supposed to make sure I'm able to start the car, why can't I.
Did you ever find the solution? I have the EXACT same problem with my e90 including the car wash. IBS is in the mail I’m crossing my fingers this ends all of my pain lol

Good evening. I am having battery drain issues why my 2005 e60 525d. Getting random drain warning on dash and reset clocks. Recently had a new battery but still had the issues. Unfortunately today the car failed to start but the battery seems to have a full voltage. When I put the key in get the click and radio come on but the push start button on first press does not initiate the rest of the cluster and pre start up tests. Instead shuts off. And will not start with clutch down. Rac showed a control access module fault. The car has been firing up as if the battery was fully charged untill this issue today. Do you think this could be down to an ibs sensor issue? Kind regards. And thanks for your advice on your other videos. Most appreciated.
Fixed my E36 today finally, bad battery will give loads of problems, replaced it with a more powerful one, hooked up to laptop for diagnostics, cam sensor faulty replaced it today brand new genuine part problem solved, codes cleared, no more codes,
People please listen to the bmw doctor, don't throw money at the problem, only use genuine parts and get proper diagnostics done.

I need to replace my ibs, it went bad causing the idle air control valve to never turn off draining the battery overnight.
did the replacement of the ibs sensor solve your problem with the idle control valve? My e60 have the same problem.

Hello BMW Doctor. Is it too late to register my battery now or I should buy another one and register? I Didn't register my new battery.
