    To be honest with you, I am just a big fan of the 686 in general and like them both equally but for different reasons. I like my 686+ 2” for the capacity, compactness and modern transfer safety bar. I like my 686 4” older version because the build quality is exceptional, feels well balanced in the hand, looks cool and is little easier to control with full magnum loads. I have no preference on the butt shape, although the round butt does allow for smaller grips if you prefer that.

    One of the FEW logically organized and "leanly" delivered video gun review methods out there. Are they all this good? Will check more out now.... No jibber-jabber and meandering. Just the straight dope and then good visuals at the range. And, a nice (and brief) summary. Awesome.

    I own the exact same gun....everyone thinks jst cuz it's short barrel it's not accurate and not as powerful.......HORSE MANURE!!!! Dude I can shoot that gun more accurate than my glock.......no bull! I only load it with 38 +p becuz I live in the city and I think 357 is overkill...but when I go to the woods....different story.....im looking into buying the 4 inch version.....this addiction ain't no joke....God forgive me.

      @@christianrobinson3293 to be honest with u brother the 357 feels super manageable...becuz it's a beefy gun....a tad snappy but not much..its more of a decibel level issue....357 is jst too damn loud.....so to answer ur question the 38 plus p feels great....by the way I ended up buying the 4 inch barrel down the road..I still known it and this one still is my favorite pistol.

    Great review!!! I really like all of your videos! The one thing I will disagree with though is a 357 mag load for home defense. If you shoot a 357 inside your house without ear protection, you will be temporarily deaf for sure and possibly disoriented. IMO not a good thing when you have bad guys in your house.

      Thank you and thanks for taking the time to comment. Hearing loss is a valid concern; a good .38+P can also be used as a substitute. I am not advocating that the .357 is for everyone, it’s a personal choice, go with whatever works best for you. IMO

    • @leeman3575
      @leeman3575  Před 6 lety +1

      Thanks for your comment. I think it would be a bit hefty for daily carry, unless it was in a shoulder or hip holster. My primary use for this gun is home defense. I think if you put this gun in your pocket your pants might fall down at some point due to the weight! 😊

    • @looseballs1966
      @looseballs1966 Před 6 lety +1

      Not bad to carry actually, I carry mine in an IWB type of holster (sort of) it is a holster of my own design sort of, it puts the gun inside of your belt but not your pants, as long as you have the distance between your belt loops it works great, the belt being on the outside of the gun and holster really pulls it in tight to the body so it doesn't flop around like a normal hip holster and keeps it very concealable even under just a loose fitting T-shirt, and yet it ain't right up against your bare skin, I also have the new model 69 S&W with 2.375 inch barrel I carry the same way, only 5 shots with it but it's 44 magnum and pretty much means good bye if it connects with some poor slob bad guy LOL, P.S I have carried both in a more normal IWB holster and with a tad of getting used to it you will never be bothered by it, and having 7 rounds of very proven 357mag is hard to beat the way I see it, not to mention the awesomeness if you go 44mag with the 69.

    I have one but it's a 6 shot can I put those grips in mine?and where can I find them?

    • @leeman3575
      @leeman3575  Před 6 lety

      Those are the S&W grips that come with the gun. I don’t think you can buy them but you can check with S&W. Hougue makes similar grips but as for the fit, you have to determine if your 686 is a square butt or a round butt. It goes by frame size, so any grip designed for a round butt S&W K/L should fit (in theory) any S&W K/L round butt revolver, same with square butt.
      Having said all that I bought a new set of Altamont wood grips this gun and have a short video presenting them: czcams.com/video/jMTXAZF3NNg/video.html

      Thanks for the comment. As for over penetration, I have been thinking of switching from a SJHP to a 158 grain soft lead semi wad cutter. Hopefully I will never be in a situation where I will need to use it
