I just got the Bundle, loving the grip and the hard shell case is great for protection and keeping it clean and free of dust. The Tomtoc Travel Bag is my next purchase. :)
The bundle is a great way to go. I'm sure you'll love the Tomtoc bag for it too, and I can definitely vouch for it with the Ally. I've been using it daily since my review went up on the tomtoc bag, it's a great way to bring it with you.
Just ordered this case based on your review. Very excited for it. Would you happen to have any recommendations for a docking station that will fit the Ally with the Skull & Co grip case?
The UGREEN one works but it adds height so it's pretty tight on the cable. You can lay the device down on an angle to use the dock or just be careful with it when connecting the cable if you want to stand it up.
@@KeiRetroGaming thanks. Maybe I’ll go with that and add a 90 degree adapter to it to extend it slightly and essentially make it into a 180 degree plug
I'm waiting for someone to create a printable backplate that can be replaced with the default that adds grips natively to it. I think that would be the perfect solution as a case adds some weight vs just replacing the backplate with a more ergonomic one, perfect solution in my opinion.
Great video, but i was hoping you would've measured the thickest part of the ally with and without the grip (it looks like a 10mm difference), as well as the case.
Hi kei just wondering if this case block the r and l trigger button. Currently i am using another case with enhanced grip, but the current case did block the trigger so it cannot be fully pressed. Thanks
I haven't noticed it blocking any of the controls. I've been using it extensively for the past few weeks without any issues, and both the L and R triggers seem to work fine. I hope that helps.
Such a shame it doesn't included a kickstand like some other options. I am wondering what it might be like to stick a Deckmate Allymate on the Skull and Co case rather than directly on the Ally. Anyone done such a thing?
It brings the total weight to 749g, which isn't bad, but it does add some extra weight. If it were any heavier, I believe it might become uncomfortable for portable gaming, but so far, it hasn't been an issue for me.
The only situation where you can disagree is if you don't have anything to compare it with. Literally the only less comfortable thing to play on is a flat smartphobe 😢
You said it. Both this and the steam deck are handheld Portable PCs. They are designed to give you a console experience but they are PCs. Many still make this mistake. 😂😂

I just ordered mine. How long did it take for yours to arrive?
@@synchros721did you get yours?
@@kasra5700 I ended up canceling the order and returning the ROG Ally. I decided to go with the Steam Deck OLED
Would you know how this all fits when you have thumb grips on the joysticks. Does it still fit nicely? ( skull and co case)
great! video!
I'm lovin' mine. It isn't hard to take off too unlike other grips.

Yes and make bigger so extra room for bigger battery and other mods
Already a thing

Mine just shipped out. Hope it gets here faster than my typical shipments from China.
Mine was a lot faster than I expected. I'm sure you'll have it soon! Probably 7-14 days would be my guess. 4px is pretty decent.
I have 2 cases and both have problem that the RT and LT button come to the case when i press it…wonder me i see nothing with this Problem…

Where do you want me to measure? Up by the triggers?
@@KeiRetroGaming the bottom at the widest part of the handle where your ring finger rests
Sorry for the delay. Unfortunately I had to order a new caliper. The grip adds 7mm in that spot.
Pretty noice. Just ordered the purple version and I'm quite excited to get my hands on it
Awesome! I'm think you'll be pretty happy with it.
Nice*

Doesn't block the triggers at all.

for most cases, it doesn't really need one. It isn't adjustable, but it does sit upright at a 70 degree angle
It stands up on its own , love it
Will this fit on the rog ally inside of the stock rog ally case with the white writing along the zipper area?
I don't have the official case unfortunately, only the skull and co one.
Appreciate the prompt reply. Hopefully someone else can speak on this matter?
Will this fit in a j saux 6in1 dock?
Just checked and it doesn't even fit in the slot at all.
Works on docks? Thanks
It doesn't work on the dock I have here (ugreen one). It'll fit but the cable on the dock isn't long enough now to reach the USB port.
Does this make the ally feel heavy?

So How much did you get paid for this review
Good review. Thanks. However the Ally is not a console. It’s a handheld.
When you dock it. It becomes a console.
@@brandonvrt2285 No. it goes into a console MODE. It is PRETENDING to be a console. Nothing more, nothing less.
Yeah the screen is big enough to ever need to be docked and I can just use a low latency wireless display if I want a bigger screen
