- Cancer has impacted my life and travels in such a big way over the last four years, but it's just impacted it, certainly not stopped it! In many ways it's actually enhanced my experiences both of life and travelling. It has given me a greater appreciation of everything I have, to enjoy the positives of life and not dwell on the hardships.

When i was looking at a 911/991 I wasn’t sure about buying the car. Then my doc said I had melanoma. When she called me on the phone she said “get the car Paul.” After 3 years of treatment I’m still here enjoying the car.

I must admit to giving serious consideration to one but what swung me away from it was that the value would be in keeping the miles sensible, not something I'm particularly good at! 😆 I love York, Rachel and I had our honeymoon there (in 1979!) and like I just said to @stanleyfamUK there's loads of places closer to home that I haven't explored which appeal to me. I love Yorkshire, a beautiful county!

As a young man of 25 years old this video really made me realise how precious a good bill of health is.
This is something I never really thought about and took a bit for granted. Your words and story refocussed my attention on getting the most out of my life and everyday making the best of it for myself and the people around me. Thank you for that Frederick ☺ I'm pondering a short video entitled something like 'Cancer - Enhancing MY life'. When did you last stop for a moment to be aware of your body? Are you pain free and comfortable? Because that isn't a given. Most of us are born with the ability to see, hear, feel, have a sense of smell and taste. We have grown up with the ability to drink and eat to keep our bodies going. When you lose any of this (as I did for 5 weeks with my oesophageal cancer, surviving only on liquid feed through a tube through my nose) then you truly realise what a privilege it is to have it back. I couldn't even swallow water during that period, lost 2 stones and aged ten years. Now I can eat and drink again and can swallow a sip of water with a pleasure that most people couldn't comprehend. As a good friend of mine said "Health is wealth". I hope you have a very 'wealthy' future ahead of you Frederick, thank you for taking the time to comment ☺

At age 63, after colon cancer and with an untreatable autoimmune disease destroying my liver, I want to thank you for this inspiring story. My strategy through all this has been to attack my bucket list in the order of hardest/most-joyful first, before my health window closes. This year I walked the Camino Frances across Spain, the Rota Vicentina in Portugal, the South Downs Way in England and a portion of the South West Coast Path. Really hard for me but I’m happy to say I put together a plan and then executed it successfully with no hospital stays along the way. Our physical capacities and what brings us joy may be different, but we’re both trying to live our best lives in the scarce time available. I see in you someone a little further down the path than me still living life in full. Thanks for being an inspiring role model, and for putting a spotlight on less physically demanding adventures I can still add to my bucket list as I follow the same ultimate path as yours, albeit a bit behind.

Thank you for your comments and for saying where you're from🤗 I'm sorry to read about your father, this cancer thing seems to now be affecting most families in the world 😔 I don't really get emotional, maybe due to the fact that I became an emotional wasteland after my wife died (of cancer) four years ago and now I live alone with nobody to bounce emotions off, even though I am very fortunate to have our two amazing daughters on my doorstep ☺. I still have so many positives in life and reasons to treasure it ☺ My best wishes to you in coming to terms with the loss of your dad 😔

So sorry to hear it’s returned. I was diagnosed in 2015 and bought the same car three days later, then a cayman, 911 s, 4s, then a GTS. I am now recovered and retired at 55, one life so live it. Thought it was back earlier this year but got the all clear. One life no rehearsal

OMG, what a fantastic position to be in! After my wife died I said that I wasn't saving for a rainy day because I've had it! Well it pretty much has been lashing it down since January last year! 😆I'm not spending all my money (obviously) but what's happened certainly changes my decision making!
My dad always said he would travel when he retired and worked until 70. By that time, diabetes and foot woundcare had taken over his life. Enjoy the money you've worked hard for, while being responsible to the ones who matter (spouse, kids/grand kids) and then don't forget to have fun yourself within moderation. I'd say it's more about making memories than dopamine hits. That will come when you remember the memories you've had already, and have yet to make.

I'm 38 and I lost my dad a long time ago to the big c. My mum had double cancer a few years ago but she had a lucky and full recovery. I had a scare last year. You are doing exactly what I'd do in your position and it brings tears thinking about your quiet bravery. Great choice of car (I have a 2010 panamera that I just took to San Sebastian and had a wonderful time, but for just one I think the Boxter is a great (reliable?) choice.

Wow, thank you so much Tom for your comments. Some people get a great hand dealt and some don’t, looks like yours has been a bit rough but I feel very fortunate to have had the life I’ve had/having. Yes it would’ve been lovely to have been healthy until my mid 90’s and then suddenly fall off my perch but most of us aren’t so fortunate. I can share with you re your cancer
In December 2021 in The midst of Covid I had a bilateral lung transplant,after a year build up
I had Idiopathic Fibrosis
Being a fairly fit fellow etc
Lung transplant went fine and recovery was tough
Over a couple of years with skin issues (sun exposure etc) I developed a Lymph Node at the groin
After tests etc it was diagnosed metatasic
6 rounds of radiation
Then I was diagnosed Stage 4 C
Start with Chemo and Pet Scans to see how progress was going,and I was 4 rounds in and another Pet Scan and it appeared to be disappearing
Then I was getting sick,so off to the Emergency dept,just as well we did that as the surgeon told me,another hr and we wouldn’t be having this conversation!
So what I had was a blood clot in the lung
After a 6 week stay I was cleared to leave
I also got Covid while I was there ( it’s still around) so be careful it and folks like us down quickly
So I’m back on the Chemo and round 9 this coming week
My family is very supportive in helping me etc
But I agree,there is always someone worse off,and I Keep focused on the light at the end of the tunnel✅

I have a 928 and awaiting finishing mechanical work,and it’s a beautiful car,a true GT touring car

I'm 19 years old and just bought my first sports car (2003 bmw z4 3.0i) and this video has really put into perspective how unpredictable life can be so I reckon I'm going to book that trip and start driving it abroad! It's so true - we regret the things we didn't do far more than the mistakes we made in life. Death is inevitable. The important thing is to live it to the full whether for 19 or 99 years.. This came up in my feed. I developed cancer sometime in 2021/2022 after years of ulcerative colitis (1997 diagnosis) . Like you, I chose Porsche; I had a photo with a GT2 996 some twenty years earlier at the Montreal GP circa 2001. Luckily, I was only stage 2 and was operated on, but it was eye opening and the disease had threatened and haunted me for as long. "Enjoying what I can, while I can" is my motto as well. Due to the stomas, I no longer enjoy the bikes of my 20s and 30s, but I pulled a trigger on a 911, which is certainly as good as the bikes, albeit with A/C. Take care and keep enjoying life.

Never watched any other of your clips but seen this. I love a road trip but never done Europe but plenty in my native Scotland and bits of the U.K. You absolutely have the best blast and wish you more time to enjoy the Car. 😢 I don’t have a sports Car unless you call a MINI Cooper that but it was bought split new and I have enjoyed many road trips. I have a few friends who don’t like driving or see what you get out of driving B roads through scenery and I always think it’s a bit of a shame they don’t get that buzz or enjoyment that I get.
The Porsche has surprise me, it's the first sports car I've had and has definitely bridged the gap between bike and car. I made most of my videos private but may reintroduce some which looks at the car/bike thing?
Wales is also very beautiful. It's my go-to for road trips. Was there yesterday. The last two times I've been though I've had problems. I cracked my windscreen (stone chip) about three weeks ago (now repaired) and yesterday dented my car door when it opened into a stone wall. I had two Porsches over 11 years, but had a lot of trouble with the second one (a 987 RS60 Spyder) when the engine imploded. Now had an Abarth 124 Spider for 4 years, which I love and want to take it into Europe.

I'm 31 and haven't had a happy day since I was maybe 21. Work long hours for little money . Can't even just buy what I want at McDonald's because of price. You have lived more life than I will. Unless I change something. I may quit my job this month and buy a van . Really hope you get better . Lost my mum to cancer at 20. We had an argument and I told her I hope she would die. Two days later we got the cancer diagnosis. I rarely visited her in hospice because I was too high and scared of facing the gravity of the situation. Never got over this and I think about it daily . I loved her immensely and I don't know she knew that. I really hope you get better mate. I'm not religious but I prayed for you . Looks like you had a great time mate you are an inspiration and a very brave man.

You are who you are partly because of what has happened and obviously you can’t change that but you can change your future. I wish you all the best and hope that you can become that person you want to be🤞🏼 A brave person is someone who is scared of something but carries on regardless. This situation is mainly out of my hands, I would prefer not to be in it but I am and can’t change the fact I have cancer. I’m not scared so therefore in my opinion I’m not brave but thank you anyway. I get quite a bit of time when I’m not in pain or discomfort, can eat and drink to survive so everything else in life is a bonus! My best wishes to you for your future ☺️

Love that you shared your journey. It’s a dream of mine to do the same, especially in a Porsche. I’m now 40 and still gotta get the money up to travel even at all ( US is expensive lol ). So proud of you and happy to see you living life for all it is and encouraging others to do the same.

So many people whining and crying about the nonsensical things in life........see them all the time!
