His voice is a force of nature.
Tom Jones is one of my three all-time favorite male singers. Unbelievable voice!
The way he sings "Again.." so many different ways is awesome. It brings so much to the song.
Yes! Each version telling us how he's feeling at that point in the song: bereft, hurt, angry, etc. I particularly love, feel, appreciate, CHEER for the final "A-GAIN". I so LOVE that he does NOT slide into the second syllable and PUNCHES each syllable in that word to show his anguished frustration of falling (back) in love... A-GAIN.
This and Bobby Hatfieldâs [Righteous Brothers] live performance of âUnchained Melodyâ on the Andy Willamâs show are two of the greatest live vocals in TV history in my book!
I very much agree, but I would also add Elvis Presley's "If I Can Dream" finale from his 1968 TV special.
Absolutely!
Definitely!!!
His Voice is liquid Gold...
7:24 Powerful, healthy belting. He is a great example of vocal longevity.
Well........Tom can really belt out a song, Can't he? Never boring that's for sure. One of the best vocalists' in the last 50 years. :-)
That is a man singing. Power. Power. He's amazing.
I've only found a few vocal coach channels that review this song and you're the first to discuss, describe, educate, etc. on the MANY parts involved that Sir Tom Jones works to such great effect. (The others just rely on "great... powerful... tone.") This is one of my top three favorite songs, if not THE favorite. I really find that song, arrangement and singer were all meant to be. If this wasn't written FOR him, knowing how he can work his voice, emotions, body, then it's a great stroke of luck for all of us that it made its way to him. OH - and good producer!!!
And he still can sing this song today, with power and tone! đ
Heard him sing this on The Voice UK with Peter Donegan, Lonnie's son. It was impromptu and very moving. It was cool to see that JHud was obviously impressed.
â@@KCCheez fair enough.
Beth, hereâs my reaction to you. You are the most delightful young lady and so knowledgeable, articulate and passionate about your craft. If my six year old granddaughter decides to sing, I pray she could have you for vocal coach and friend. I know wonderful when I see it. You make the world a better place. God bless you!
One of the best live vocal performances ever. The tone, dynamics, phrasing, and emotion are just amazing. His ability to express vulnerability is so effective.
You mention cry. Check out Tyler Childers âNose to the Grindstoneâ for a wonderful example of Appalachian cry.
This song reminds me of my grandmother, she always sing this song while sewing my dress. and to be honest i prefer old songs because it reminds me of those memorable yesterdays passes by. so it makes me realize that time goes by so fast and we have to appreciate the things we have now and learned to love it. and of course Thanks for the Reactionđ i almost forgot to play this song while cleaning my grandmom's room. Nice videođđ
he's got the face to match the voice. I'm not embarrassed acknowledging a handsome man when I see one.
he still sounds amazing on his recent time on AU's Got Talent.
He's got a big gay following too.
He is handsome, and personally I preferred his earlier nose/s
His voice had almost opera qualities.
If I remember correctly, he nearly went into opera, but decided against it because opera wouldn't allow him the freedom of expression. He decided he wanted to rock. Good call, Sir Tom, good call.
has* he's still got it
Tom Jones one of best singer's in the world never trained God given gift no voice teacher can teach that it is natural
Tom has always been an incredible singer, but he never got the credit or the respect he so deserves because people paid more attention to the the panties being thrown onstage rather than his voice. He still has a huge unbelievable voice. I'm so glad he's being rediscovered through these reactions. Love you Tom!
The Queen may think otherwise since she granted his knighthood of the empire title for the contribution to the musical arts. Hence he's Sir Tom Jones nowadays.
I just want someone to look at me the way Beth looks at Tom Jones.
I saw Tom Jones twice about 20 years ago at the Filmore in San Francisco and the Paramount theater in Oakland. The man can really project, he's loud. I was standing about 30 feet from him at the Filmore and I could hear his natural voice over the house PA system
Love watching folks being introduced to Tom on CZcams. His voice is iconic and it still is.
One of those guys that males wanted to be/sing like him and gals wanted to be with him.
100%
I totally agree. His voice is the one I would like to have to thrill women.
What a great song! and Tom is on another level, thanks Beth for bringing us this masterpiece. đ
So many memories of all the family gathered around the tv watching Tom whenever he was on. The TV Guide would be searched with a fine tooth comb to see where and when he'd appear. It wasn't just Tom but he was high on the list. So different than today!
What a set of pipes! And gee, no auto-tune!
T pain had a really good point on autotune that I saw recently. Donât think of it as a crutch. Itâs just a tool to change things. Sure there are SOME artists that use it as a crutch but you wouldnât say someone canât play guitar just because they use distortion. Most artists using autotune can sing just fine. Autotune is just for style.
Excellent analysis!! Tom Jones is definitely a powerful singer!
Saw him 14 times in concert .... oh, that man can sing and dance .... and he wasn't hard to look at either !!!!!!!!
THE P Presley ???? Omg I hope so x
Me being a huge English fan of the "Late and Great " I hope so x
@@martinrichmond2665 Sorry, not THE P Presley ... just a lifelong fan !!!
Ahhh yes the Welsh Balladeer! My Dad could sing just like this guy..and Elvis! This song never gets old!
Lovely song written and performed by lonnie donegan before Tom made it even more special. Talking about special Lonnies son Peter was a contestant on the voice uk and actually got chosen by Tom â€ïžđ
Classically trained dramatic tenor!! Not a baritone. What a voice! So powerful and soulful.
@Kaji People mistake him for a tenor when he is in fact a baritone. A tenor would struggle to go as low as Tom did towards the end of this song. Tom once remarked that him and Elvis both had the same sort of range and Elvis was also a baritone.
@@ronnienose8608 Thank you for sorting that out. Tom has always been a baritone since he began singing in the pubs of Pontypridd. He also once sang with Pavarotti. He had no problem keeping up with Pavarotti. Tom, himself once said he is able to go from "g" to high "b" to low "a". That's almost the entire scale. Not many singers can do that. Tom's voice is a God given gift.
@Kaji. He's not a tenor. He's a baritone. Read above. He said it himself. He should know. It's his voice.
@@ronnienose8608 He says he was a tenor here - czcams.com/video/IKhAIJIyd8A/video.html There are many instances of him talking about receiving a tenor training as well as being a natural tenor. And as someone who is very into opera and a student of vocal pedagogy, Tom is a VERY clear example of a darker, lower tenor. Also I'm sorry but the low note Tom hit here is not that low for a tenor lol. It's perfectly doable to do even without a microphone for a classical tenor. in fact there are many roles which require that note.

"Yes... Tom Jones"... Great job, Beth. You rock !!
I love all the artists that you react to, and I love your singing tips. Thank you for sharing.
He's like the male version of Shirley Bassey. LOL. It seems like the Welsh have great speakers and singers. Check out Steve Balsamo.
No doubt!
The Welsh are alot of the times amazing vocalists
I would love to see you do a reaction to the duet he did with Cyndi Lauper on his TV show in the 1980's as it shows how incredible both their voices are
Wow Beth you have been busy lately! Thanks for the great content! Your positive attitude makes my day.
Thank you for your wonderful reaction. Tom Jones had a TV show that I remember watching back in the late 1960's here in the US when I was a kid. He is still going strong at 80 years of age. I always thought of Tom Jones as the UK's answer to Elvis Presley. They were actually good friends back in the day. I also wanted to let you know that one of my favorite Elvis songs I Can't Help Falling In Love. Has a new cover performed by none other than Diana Ankudinova. She is 18 now and has expanded both her range and power. I would love to hear your reaction to hearing her sing in 2021. Please stay safe.
SO COOL! I requested this song years ago, finally Beth takes a look at it đđ
Thanks for exposing us to a wide array of music. A couple years ago he did a tiny desk concert. It was wonderful.
A classically trained voice! (No doubt a result of singing all those Welsh Hymns, đ) Not for everybody, but always helpful for ANY singer! Thanks once again, Beth.
Hymns like Guide Me O Thou Great Redeemer, All Through the Night/Ar Hyd y Nos, and traditional songs like Myfanwy, Calon Lan- the great tradition of male voice choir and rugby crowd singing too.,
Tom Jones and Karen Carpenter are easily my two favorites.
Even Elvis went to see Tom singing!!...he was amazed by him!đđđ
Thank you Beth!!!!!! Great call!
Thank you so much for this review of Tom Jones he absolutely has been my Favorite singer of all time. I would really love if you would review more of his songs. I who have nothing a powerhouse ballad, Without Love I have nothing at all is another one of my favorites. Again thank you I truly enjoyed your insightful remarks and of course Sir Tom Jones performances!
Lonnie Donegan's original recording is on YT and Tom gives it much more oomph, but Lonnie's is just as powerful in its own way. Lovely reaction to a very emotional song.
You shuld see the preformance of this song on The Voice UK with the son of the author of this song đđïžđ¶
Was just coming to comment the same thing
Beth, I love it that your whole body reacts and your total appreciation of this wonder. Whenever I hear or see his performances, I always think, "and God created man". This MAN is amazing! Thank you.
We just luv all his songs, especially this song
Must be getting old, I remember this era so well.
You are the best vocal coach on CZcams, Bravo!
Great job with the review! Thanks!
Goosebumps
Yr b4 I was born what a legend
Such a talented and handsome manâ€.
Yes he is my favourite singer .what a legend .â€
Early squad! Love you, Beth! â€ïž
Sometimes there is no musical explanation.. It's just great and awsome hahahaah
Watch some of The Voice UK on CZcams. He can still belt it at, I believe, 80 years of age.
LEGENDâ€
Absolutely the best đ
Check him out doing "She's a Lady"
Iâve thought about adding this song to my list of auditions on AGT! I also love singing Elvis version of this song! đđ€
thanks Beth
Masterpiece.
To the lady that broke ol Tommy's
A greatful world hates you and thanks you.
Without you we wouldn't have this classic.
I love you Beth !!
thank you.
Your reaction is exactly why Tom got the attention and invites from any many women.
Beth
The Voice: UK CZcams channel has Sir Tom Jones singing this song with a contestant, Peter Donegan, son of Lonnie Donegan, songwriter who wrote this song for Tom Jones. His mom, Lonnie's widow was very emotional seeing their son doing a duet with Tom Jones.
I always thought that Elvis on his '68 comeback special where he sang the song "If I can Dream" was the most emotional song I had ever heard, Elvis closed the show with this song, he put it in as a tribute to Martin Luther King Jr. who had been assassinated two months before...... czcams.com/video/u-pP_dCenJA/video.html
But I must say this song emotionally is right there!
You got it, girl! Spot on!
Nice sharing đđ
Todo un simbolo de los años 70
Beth, great reaction!! We lost Jay Black on friday. Please review Jay And The Americans song "Cara Mia". In the 1960s he was "The Voice". Thank you.
His voice is not the only thing thatâs big đźđź
fenomenalÂĄÂĄÂĄ
Puppies, little cuddles and a small tear. Ok get me out of here. I am sold!!:):):)
Another exquisite video Beth. There are so many singers' work I'd like to see you analyse.
I'd love you to cover one of Glen Campbell's live performances from say '68 to '78.
No worries or wondering if he's lip-syncing or there's some auto tune mixer being used.. *Talent* pure & simple .
When I'm dreaming I'm singing like Tom Jones to a huge audience and halfway through the song I wake up and never get a standing ovation for my frog like finish to the song, some people have all the luck and Tom Jones is one of them

Beth. Thank you. You are awesome.
Aren't many men in Wales well trained in singing, even among amateurs? Welsh male voice choirs are world reknown. Tom Jones is one of the greats. I too was classically trained.
He is the king of crooners hands down.
Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby, Elvis Presley, and Yanni have nothing over Tom Jones.
Not just his vocals but his charisma is unchallenged.
Then you add in the fact that he was married to his childhood sweetheart for 59 years and you've got to say that his character is equally amazing.
My mom just loved Tom.
Have you ever thought about listening to, analyzing & Breaking down âDean Martinâ & His Vocals ???
He still sounds good in his 80s.
Iâm addicted to Tom Jones Reaction Videos. Donât tell nobody
the refrain on the chorus kills me too.
No se puede cantar mejor......olé por el maestro
This is the ordinary and tasteless comment that everyone hates! Beth is gorgeous!
"I, who has nothing" my favorite
Beth you look lovely in black đ€ - great video đ„
Tom Jones is a legend. More, more, more. I would love to see your thoughts on "Delilah".
yes Tom is from just up the road
You need to look at the clip that Tom sung with the writer of the song Lonnie Donnigans son Peter. It show what a true gentleman Tom is truly amazing
It's if as though he has a unique mix that no one before or after has done.
It's like he's mixing crooner along with the soul singer and I cannot recall anyone quite the same way.
I haven fallen in love with you Beth, keep your amazing job, you're such a sweet and incredible person â€ïž

Please, make a video about The Sundays' Harriet Wheeler! She has one of the best voices I've ever heard
"Here's Where The Story Ends" was the first I heard, and her voice got me. Ethereal to me @1986.
Suggestion: City and Colour - If I Should Go Before You - Live at City Winery
