    Today I will be showing how to replace old lithium batteries with a new one on the Philips portable DVD player. It shouldn't take you more than an hour to do this.

    Wish the video sound was louder. I've turned up my Sony Vaio laptop to max, and it just seems to be getting quieter. Can't use headphones, slot broken. I really want to try this. Just a few suggestions on your video: please use super bright lights when taping, when showing close up work go ahead and use a large magnifying glass (to help us old people, who don't see so good, benefit from your expertise). Thank you so much for the video.

    Any issues charging a higher capacity LiPo with the original power supply?
    I'm looking at installing a new 3.7V 5.2Ah battery in mine.

    How do I connect the yellow wires of the two new batteries? Thank you!

    • @educatetube
      @educatetube  Před 8 lety

      +Andrea Mazzarello Hi Andrea, I think the yellow wire is connected to the white wire of the battery. Make sure you know what the yellow wires are for. Usually the black and red wires are the positive and negative terminals of the lithium battery and the yellow wire may be for voltage regulation monitoring.

    I know this video is old but i found a silver Mintek portable DVD player at Goodwill model number MPD/ 1810 for only $7 it came with the battery pack installed and actually plays very good for it's age but i think it starting to go since this player is from 2003 and the brand is no longer in buisness. Is it possible to rebuild the battery the battery isn't even built in to the player they are inside a pack that attaches to the back of the player. Any advise on that. i could probably sell this player for about $40 to $50 i rather not sell it if i know the battery is showing signs that its on its way out

      What type of battery is it using? Yes, you should be able to change the battery if you know the voltage and amperage and then match the exact specs.

      I used 3.7v 1850mA lithium batteries. If the circuit requires 7.4v then connect the Lithium batteries in series.

  • @ordinaryofmydaughterhii-sa8894

    thank you for reply.
    so, you put 3.7V 1850 x 2pcs?

    • @educatetube
      @educatetube  Před 8 lety +1

      +tetsu nag Yes, it has to be connected in series as we want 7.2 to 7.4 v depending on your device requirement. Check your old batteries and see how they are connected.

      I'm having trouble locating the same batteries that you have.. all I'm seeing on Amazon and Ebay are ones with only 2 leads coming out, a red/black one. Was also considering this one but again it too only has two leads, rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F173829758388

    • @educatetube
      @educatetube  Před 7 lety +1

      Yes it should work. Be careful with the amount of amperage of the new lipo battery. Make sure it is not greater than 1.5x the original as the circuit may not be able to handle it.
