I heard this version almost 40 years ago but I never caught the name of the symphony that played it. I've searched for years but couldn't find it. Some were close but not the one I heard and I gave up. But finally, I found it!! When the violins start to rise as the piece approaches the end, something inside me soars along with them. No other version does that to me. The sweetest dream I ever had was of me playing this on a violin. I can still remember it clearly - the violin tucked against my neck, under the side of my face, eyes closed, bow moving across the strings, playing this. I can still feel the upwelling in my heart as I played. The dream feels as strong now as it did when I awoke those many years ago!
The beautiful thing about dreams my friend, is that for every today & tomorrow that we're Blessed to awaken to? So too, can a dream come true as you pick a violin... Whether it's for the very first time or the hundredth time... ...and whether it be a group lesson or private lesson? That upwelling in your heart can be awoken again and again as you pick up a violin and play even if a little piece of Pachelbel's Canon (in D MAJOR of course)... And perhaps the piece you play? Denzel Wenzel I spent some of my youth in Dresden. We used to sit in the square near the "bear cage" and listen to youth groups playing this and other classical works. The sun sets late in Dresden. Happy days following the fall of the wall. The smell of flowers and lazy summer nights listening to this. Not stiff collars. No politics. Just pure bliss.

What made it interesting was the song on the album after was the Trumpeters Volitare. She is now 36 and still loves to hear Canonu.

PERFECT tempo. I love the slightly slower versions of Canon in D, such as this one. Some performances are just too rushed...and as beautiful as they are, they make me feel antsy for some reason. It Was Not Composed To Be Play At This Slow Tempo, It Wasn't Meant To Be Relaxing. It's The Baroque Era.
