- I was just sitting around jamming and decided to throw a quick clean demo of these Fender Pure Vintage '65 Stratocaster pickups on CZcams!
I just installed these into my Warmoth Strat a couple months back and they were exactly what I was looking for in a great set of Stratocaster pickups -- bright without being piercing, punchy, good output, and retain that glassy tone I loved about the old Fender Custom Shop '69 Pickups I used to have!
All you're hearing here is guitar, microphone, camera mic and amp (a '65 Fender Deluxe Reverb Reissue). Amp settings are included in the video, and it was miked up with a Shure SM57.

Lovely playing mate, sounds great. I am awaiting delivery of a Strat that has these in, looking forward to trying them out.
Excellent demo, very musical and the clean tones are essential when trying to assess whether you like the sound.
Beautiful. I’m sold on these pups.
Nicely done my friend!
Thank you much buddy!
Just bought these pickups to put on a Fender MIM 2015. I think it will sound great!
Wow, your playing is delicate and tasty. Love it. The pickups too.
Doggone it, that's some beautiful playing! You could take your first composition (neck pickup), sit down at a coffeehouse, and play just that for three hours straight, and I don't think any of the patrons would grow tired of it!
Ordered a set 65 pups from Japan and gonna put them in my Elite strat!
Wow the Bridge is surprisingly useable !
That is one of the big reasons I like this set so much -- none of that Strat "icepick" tone in the bridge position!
Always has been
100%! I have an American Original 1960s Strat that comes with these pickups and the first thing I noticed is how useable the bridge is. These are my favourite pickups of any Strat I’ve owned; the electronics in my Eric Clapton Strat come in close second.
The Pure 65s just sound so balanced and warm.
@@mikec3454 + one on the Clapton Strat...I feel like I'm cheating when I play it😂😂
I have a set of CS 69s but I find them a bit weak. Will the 65 sound better? I'm into Blues, Soul and Classic Rock. Thanks!!
That's exactly the same reason I bought this set! I had the 69's and while they sounded great, they were way too low output for my needs. These PV '65's were the cure for me, so I think yes you'll dig them a TON more.
@@MattTheGuitarGuy Great stuff!!
Great sound. How close are your pickups to the strings? Mine came buried in the body
Normally I keep them pretty low in the pickguard, but these I've raised up a fair amount, about a 1/4" above the guard -- seemed to make them a bit more punchy and "big" sounding.
@@MattTheGuitarGuy thanks this helps.
What tone cap value?
It's a .022 orange drop.
Well they sound great here - I want to get rid of some Texas Specials that I have in a second hand strat and I love classic early Fender sounds but I'm not sure whether '57 '62 '65 or '69 is what I need. These really do seem to retain that sound, because the Texas Specials don't even sound like a strat to me.
