- In this video, I visited 8 football stadiums in the south of England!
www.fanbaseclub.com/
/ fanbase_clubs
The teams I went to in this vlog were:
1. Tring Athletic - Grass Roots Stadium
2. Dunstable Town - Creasey Park
3. Luton Town - Kenilworth Road
4. St Albans City - Clarence Park
5. Billericay Town - New Lodge
6. Chelmsford City - Melbourne Stadium
7. Braintree Town - Cressing Road
8. Stevenage - Lamex Stadium
I love groundhopping! The majority of these teams were non league but Stevenage and Luton both play in the EFL.

Where else would make a good location for a groundhopping video?
QPR?
Sutton United?
Charlton, QPR, Welling United, Chorley, Dover Athletic & Bradford City
Roots hall
Come to Belfast. Few really old grounds with lots of history. Solitude home of cliftonville. The oval home of glentoran
And now the Keni is a Premier League stadium, unbelievable!
unbelievable???? hahaha all rigged just for entertainment of masses
Who watching this after luton promoted to the premier?
Once you have been to Kenilworth Road you can stop, nowhere else matches up for excitement or loyalty of support. The FA and Football League coming together to dock us 30 points in 2008 united fans and club together and that bond is the strength of our club
It's a absolute dump!
Old,dirty and needs to be demolished!
Kenilworth Road or Luton the actual town it's self.
@@lucaschapman2188 😂😂😂😂
@@stevenjohnson7442 Dreadful place... Only Blackpool has been a worse experience than having to stay in Luton.
@@peterburry3553 im a Luton fan but I can’t say any of these comments are wrong tbh 😂
went to Luton many years ago as an visiting supporter... when you enter through those turnstiles the fans toilet are actually underneath the houses, ladies to the left, gents to the right... to access the away stand behind the goal you had to climb 2 flights of metal stairs.... as you reach the top of the 1st flight you could see directly into a house through a window barely 6 feet from the stairs,,, we were waving to the lady that lived there,,, she ignored us & just carried on what appeared to be her washing up,,,,
Luton fan here, I'm going to miss our character filled old school ground so much ( new stadium in 2 - 3 years )
I'm 100% certain a lot of visiting fans will feel the same & miss it too 😢😢
Same mate. Our fans keep telling me we need to move to get success! Utter rubbish. We are successful. Compared to watfud. That success coming whilst at KR. Then they’ll say there’s no room to grow the stadium. We don’t always fill it now. So finding room with the genius architects these days is no problem. La Bombanera (Boca Juniors) has three sides and one side of boxes on top of each other with five rows of seats beneath. There are no valid arguments to moving from our home but we are the minority sadly.
soon to be prem!
Luton fan here - love the video.
Don't know if anyone else has explained but the current situation with the stadium is that it is in early stages of construction. It's located at Power Court, a short walk from Luton train station, and should be ready for use by the start of the 2024/25 season. I think it's designed to hold around 20,000 fans (double the current capacity) with room for expansion.
But yes, it will be very necessary if we ever want to be a Premier League side.
Thanks for watching and for the explanation of the new stadium. Looking forward to seeing what it's like. I'll need to get along to a game at Kenilworth before it goes!
@@FootyAdventures come along to a Luton game next time you are near Tring before the stadium goes. You'd love the atmosphere in there. Wooden stands and sold out most weeks.
Premier league ??? Liquidation is far more likely
Great vid mate esp Luton town it always gets me on people’s views on the away stand it is indeed nostalgic
@@Mcfckinkladze respect Luton. Very stable and well run club from what I’ve seen. In recent years. I’m a Chelsea fan. But love know about lower leagues across the world. And obviously that includes England. Luton have always punched above their weight. the EFL championship is an unforgiving league. But it’s possible you might see Luton in the EPL one day. I think we need to celebrate how clubs like Luton rise through the league systems.
Just found your channel Sam. Interesting to see the various footy grounds around the country and their communities. Keep it up. Notts County fan!
IMO this is the best football channel on CZcams, thanks again Sam for another interesting review.
Only found this channel in the last 2 weeks but I love it already. Some great videos on the channel and are very informative. Especially the video about Scottish grounds as I know very little about Scottish football
"Dunstable ultras" 😂 And that wee terrace. Quality stuff mate 👌
A lot of lovely little clubs in Essex. Been Luton with Dagenham you walk up stairs in the away end and see into everyone gardens.
Stumbled across your channel mate. Love it! This is vid in particular is excellent for true footy fans. Cheers!
Erling Haaland and Bukayo Saka are coming here for away days - just imagine
You are huuuuge mate, really nice videos you got! Greetings from Brazil, Ceará SC fan support and carry on :)
Great vids mate, love these small grounds.
Everything I see that's unique or strange about football you've done a video on. Amazing stuff man keep it up forever
Brilliant. Your enthusiasm for the nooks and crannies is wonderful!
Your observations at Luton of the house/stand proximity and the need for the stadium to expand reminds me of the situation at Anfield (yes THE Anfield) in my lifetime. The Kemlyn Rd stand (where the Centenary Stand/Sir Kenny Stand now.. er.. stands) was entered by a lane behind the houses in the Kemlyn Road and about as wide as that you walked down at Kenilworth Rd. The stand held 5000(ish)?
LFC has expanded: but at a cost - buying up houses (often 'on the quiet' to keep cost down?) and leading to harassment (by 'fans' not the club) of those who did not wish to sell etc.
Hopefully this will all work out reasonably well in the end(?) a bigger ground, more success, visitors, and of course the world needs more Costa and Starbucks and Wetherspoons 😀 The Albert is still there - and as the Bible explains 'The Albert is a sign that God won't flood the world as he did in the time of Noah'.. or is that a rainbow?.. but what happens if The Albert disappears? anyway, smart area... Clean but dull perhaps, but hey ho, I'm an old man and an LFC fan.
Congratulations 🥳 🎉 👏 on 40K subscribers Sam liked all of your videos keep up the amazing work one of my favourite channels on CZcams ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🖤🤍🤎
Legend! Thank you so much for your support, I really appreciate it. All the best!!!
Premier league
Here we go!❤❤❤OYOYOY!
Dream come true.
..
LUTON Town is in the Premier League ! ....
Great upload. Really enjoyed that. Billericay Towns ground is fantastic. Would like to visit.
Great to see another groundspotting video, you sure put some miles in on an unusual route ! Stevenage was a strange choice after Braintree, if you'd wanted to end up at an EFL club, Colchester would have been easier, about 20-25 mins from The Iron and you'd have got there in daylight ! I can't believe you went to my club Billericay without telling me ... lol !
PS: Please check your FB messages mate , I sent you info on Billericay ages ago including photos of the mural before "Tamplin In Bed" got erased !!
Well done as always. I'm beginning to come to your point of view when comes to seeing these smaller clubs. Sure its grand to see the big clubs but I think its really fun to see &here about the local clubs . I'm going to ask to see a trip to Cornwall if its within your means and time your the best Sam. COYG !🔴⚪
Im thinking the bean cousins are starting to really become a problem
I’m a Luton Town supporter from NZ love your video
Kenilworth Road…the Vatican of Football. The old girl rocks with the best of them. Double the attendance and we are still louder. Last night v Middlesbrough was another rocking evening game.
I’m a boro fan our defence was shocking
It's old... dirty, disgusting and needs to be demolished ASAP!
Dear @Jamis Billson: On May 27, 2023, today, Luton Town is Vatican City! Their spirit will rock without subsiding.
The Luton architects are tending thither, toiling toward a towering stadium: the terrain taking in the talent of Trent Alexander and his premier ilk.
If they can stay up -- the sky is the limit.
Brilliant love that stadium
Great video Sam I still can't get over Luton's ground, amazing haha! Some nice little grounds there, apart from Braintree 😉
Thanks mate! Much appreciated. Still need to visit Crabble don't I! Hope you're well :)
@@FootyAdventures yeah man, haven't won once yet this season and still on -9, its an awful time for the club, many fans refusing to pay the extortionate prices, owner calling our fans disgusting for voicing their opinion on the manager etc. But I personally will stay through thick and thin, luckily I got a season ticket for £50, or else it would be tough to cover. Think the club definitely needs it's story shared yes. Hope to see you soon
Love the reference to Gavin & Stacey! Class vid son 👏👍🏼
Working my way through your videos and just watched this one. I was born in Chelmsford and live close to Braintree stadium so was good to see these. Wish I knew you was here when filming!
I’m a Southend fan and thought you was going to go there!
Stumbled across this, great vid pal. From a Brentford fan living a walk from Billericay's New Lodge
I played for Tring when I was younger
I support Hadley and I think Tring is the best away day in our league. Excellent ground, atmosphere and great local beer.
How local is the beer?
@@seanpadraigobrien1260: Oh Sean P: Wow!
Propper interesting video man! Hope to see you at another Blackpool game soon cos u seem to be a good luck charm for us 😂🍊🍊🍊
I went to college at creasey Park for my football development programme and played there every week lovely little ground. Amazing video !
Very good from you as you don't point out small mistakes, rather give the positive insights ❤❤
Excellent video again Sam.
Love your channel mate. I just subscribed😁
ah finally luton town my lovely little club. so proud of them. I'm an expat living in yorkshire haha so i miss that flea bitten ground a lot. character to some degree. those 'executive' boxes are an abomination. i love the nets to catch the stray balls ffs😂
I’m still trying to get those responsible for those boxes arrested, charged and jailed for life. Sums modern football up. Swap the Bobbers (I think a ‘bob’ was 5p) Stand for Executive Boxes. I will miss Kenilworth Road when we move. And I think away fans will too.
@@jamisbillson4872 Yes, absolutely agree, those executive boxes damaged the Club in so many ways, ranging from reducing the capacity through to taking something away from the atmosphere etc. and making that whole length incongruous with the nature of the rest of the ground. It'll still be an incredibly sad day when we move, I've been coming since the 70s and my dad and his peers go back to the 40s.
@@thomasgray5406: Dear Thomas Gray: I hope that you restrain your anti-corporate perturbation.
Luton town always brings Harry haslam to mind ..loved him as a manager ..interesting stadium for sure ..thanks for the vids ..enjoy them all
Delighted I found your channel ! I love going round grounds too like you and amazingly last week I was only in Luton and yes your right it is a very poor stadium and they need a new one fast !!!
Thank you very much!!!
Brilliant vid. Nice to see grounds I'd never see.
Another great video..However you missed out on the mighty Hitchin Towns Top field stadium.. Next time you're in the area make sure you give it a visit. Anyway mate keep the videos coming.
come before we get relegated
What's a Hitchen town?
Not a Luton Town fan. But they are my local club. And it’s always an experience dangling off the rainy wet stairs above Hatters Way
Luton pride! Massive fan, all the way from New Zealand 🇳🇿
Love how u find the positives 👍visited Luton away game many years ago gotta say I hated it couldn't believe going into stand was literally in people's back yard went to a chippy ln area n chips were vile brown oil n too top it we lost 😂
Such old and small stadiums give me peace. That's why I love English football teams so much. greetings from Turkey.
Great video and excellent commentary from yourself.
Good away day Luton always interesting going in them turnstiles
finally at Kenilworth Road :) hope you enjoyed going there
So glad I found this channel!
Great to see you visit my club, Chelmsford City. Our nickname for the ground is The Gulag due to not being the most hospital place to watch football due to the running track etc.
Couple of interesting bits of info:
The terracing at each of the ground behind the goals were paid for by supporters: RO-RO (roll on roll off) and CRO-RO (covered roll one roll off), The CRO-RO has to be dismantled and stored away each close season so does not impact on athletics.
Original ground was The Stadium in the centre of Chelmsford near the county cricket ground...long story but sold off as development land for houses.😡
As a link to another ground in the vid, we then spent 9 years sharing with Billericay Town (after a year at Maldon & Tiptree) before finally being able to return to Chelmsford.
Glen Tamplin, infamous in the local Essex football scene but, credit where it is due, invested in the facilities at Billericay as you can see (as well as on a lot of money on "players")
went luton with cardiff end of november, absolutely freezing but class away day
Billericay towns ground is beautiful for a non league ground good video again as like the rest you do
Thanks 👍
Only started watching since your Blackpool FC (you are clearly a Seasider!) and I'm really enjoying your new vlogs and back catalogue. Keep up the good work.
The more you are doing the more you are getting out there to the wider viewer. You are a born presenter.
I hope your channel grows as you are more legitimate than Tubers like Thogden.
Love these groundhopping videos. Well done again. Dulwich 8-7 St Albans still wouldn't have been exciting as Reading v Blackpool 🤣
Went to Luton away last year and by far the best away day, looking forward to going back
The Luton Stadium reminds me of the old clock end at Highbury
Can you imagine now? Lol.. welcome to Premiere league Luton Town..
player on the door is allan campbell that played for us.(motherwell) another class video mate
Great vid Sam.
Quality video, hope you enjoyed visiting our home. You are more than welcome to come back again to watch a game!
Nice new logo DTFC, good luck from a Luton fan
@@dabro2080 The Dunny are like our little sister club. No toilet jokes allowed.
Really enjoyable from a football fan born and bred in Australia 👍
I've never been to Kennilworth Road, but the turnstiles in houses reminds me of going to see Leicester at Filbert Street as an away supporter - it was the same set up. Highbury might have also had a similar arrangement if I remember correctly.
you dont wanna go there
Swanseas old ground the Vetchfield was the same
@@kevins9417 lol nope
@@TaylorMadeArmyTV wasn't it? I'm sure, i can remember this?
I bieber fratton park is the same....cant beat the old stadiums but Luton In desperate need of a new ground
Ah finally someone made a vlog about Luton Town, new subs here!
Amazing thanks so much! I'll have to go to a match a Kenilworth soon!
Another great vlog 👍
We that is Aldershot Town played Tring in March 1993 in the Diadora Div 3.It was Aldershots resurrection year after league expulsion in March 92.The game was won comfortably and secured our promotion. I remember it being reported in the Times. The piece stated that Tring sounded like a musical note which did not please the club
Another great video 👍 have you ever been to bromsgrove sporting, used to be bromsgrove rovers ?
Enjoyed your video, fair play for attempting to look at 8 grounds in a day… to the extent where you ran out of daylight hours!
Luton new stadium start building next year COYH🥳
Nice!! I'll have to watch a game at Kenilworth before it goes 🙂
@@FootyAdventures: Please rush!
Can't wait to see this stadium in the Premiership next season 🥳😂
Some nice grounds here - this is proper football!
that away gate at Luton! old school for sure. hope they win tomorrow to get promoted!
Bellísimo ese club, en vecindario. 👏👏
My two clubs in one video, home town St Albans and professional team I support, Luton. Great grounds. Nice video. Luton moving to a new ground in 2024 - well that is the plan, been waiting all my 60 years. Hoping we will be in the Premier League at Kenilworth Rd next season, that will upset the prawn sandwich brigade!
And here they are! St Alban's almost made the National League too!
I'll probably never make it to the UK, so I love these videos of smaller stadiums. I wish we had the kind of foundation in soccer (Let me be, I'm American). The closest sport we have to the tiered system is baseball, and even then, the closest team to me is about 25 miles away.
There are also "lower" soccer leagues in the US
@@aubsta1 Yeah, but nothing like the pro/rel system or the number of clubs
Whos here after Luton have secured promotion to the premier league?
Quality work!
I love to visit obscure grounds.. Aylesbury United, Sterling Albion, Dorchester Town, Leyton Town (very sadly now extinct) Harrogate Town, Harlow Town ,Chelmsford City (Old and current) Great Wakering Rovers, St Albans, Cit, Rugby Town , Barnet's Two venues, Eintracht Frankfurt .Wealdstones original ground and current one, Potters Bar Town, Biggleswade Town, Thurrock United etc etc . Like yourself I'm a football romantic.
As for Luton they've had a tremendous season under ex SUFC Nathan Jones. Kenilworth Rd is almost as bad as Roots Hall. The new fabled ground for us is now due to open in 2078.
Aveley's new one is good.
Are u using a gimbal here?
Come to Ebbsfleet United mate, great videos, subscribed, keep up the good work
omg my hometown will definitely be going for the upcoming games next season
Another great video! After watching these videos, who doesn't want to explore these small grounds for themselves and see some live football there? You may support a Premier League team Sam, but you do more to promote smaller clubs than anyone else. Thanks!
Thanks Alan. Yeah as much as the Premier League is really exciting and I love to watch it, you can't forget the smaller teams that make up the entire eco system. Our non leagues are genuinely the best in the world and we're so lucky to have them!
Been to a few of these types of ground up North. I’ve grown up as a Man United fan and I love the big European nights under the floodlights but I’ve also followed Altrincham since secondary school as well, been to a few away games in the Greater Manchester area and a couple further afield (Fratton Park in the FA Cup was a mission!). Off to Gateshead away on Saturday for a 1st round proper FA Cup game
@@Mikeb1001 Gateshead Stadium is a big arena, not least because of the athletics track around the outside of the pitch. Take your binoculars, spectators are some way from the pitch ) Have a great awayday!
Crazy y'all got promoted to the Premier League!!!
Are those windows above the away turnstile part of the stadium or part of the houses next door? Just thought match days would be very interesting if you lived above the turnstiles. I'd pull up a chair an hour before each kick off
Hey! It was brilliant for you to feature my club St Albans. Don’t know if u remember but I briefly met you at St Albans and assured you that you could film and then directed you to the media manager just to double check. Your video came up on my page on CZcams weird that lol!
Oh cool yeah I remember, thanks very much for your help! I'll have to come down for a game next time I'm in the south of England :) Cheers!!
Kenilworth Road may look a bit ramshackle now, but it's full of character and history. And it's located where the people actually live right next to their doorbells, back gardens and backyards. This is (or was) British football from my point of view. I wish they could refurbish this unique and magnificent stadium insteading of building a new 'modern' one anywhere in the outskirts.
Thanks for your visit at Braintree Town, Essex. Braintree is the hometown of Liam Howlett who started recording in his bedroom and the place where The Prodigy actually started in their beginnings as far as I know. P.S. Rest in peace, Keith Flint (who also lived in Essex, not that far away from Braintree)
Starting in my home town 🙌🏻
Brilliant video
Billericay Town have got a cracking little stadium.
My club Plymouth Argyle has the Mayflower Ship on our crest also named a stand called The Mayflower.
I've been to four of those.... Local to me too. Dunstable, Luton, Tring, Stevensge and St Albans.. Love your videos.
You should visit Poole town fc, down in Poole, Dorset. Great little ground with passionate fans
Southend Uniteds current ground Roots Hall would be a good ground to go to. We’ve played there since the mid 1955s and 3 sides are the ground are amongst housing and flats. The near by grounds for Southend Manor and Great Wakering Rovers would also be good to see on the channel
I love the location of these grounds, Elm Park, Underhill,Highbury, the original Den, one by one they’re being lost.
Nice review 👌
I'm from luton support Luton Town
It make a change for someone to come to Luton and say positive things.
Have you visit Vicarage Road of Watford fc already?
Nice ground and a goop pub across the stadium.
I've been to this stadium before. Luton is my second club as I support Southend but because I've got connections to Luton through family
Great video I was born really close to tring
Kdb going here, can't wait
Imagine the mobs of Liverpool and Man U going there.
luton town only missed the first prem season by a few points. it's crazy what journey we've been on since 91/92 season lol. what a terrible yet amazing journey. i live in doncaster now, who's team has had a similar story in recent years.
Why did you move to Doncaster for? And how long you lived in Yorkshire for now?
