Well, not at legal speed limits 😂
*Rimac has joined the chat*
One could hear a few croatians laughing in the distance...
Can you drive in a straight line
Hammond: yes
XD
This is actually surreal, engineers that design this kind of stuff are nothing short of geniuses
I agree it's pretty impressive..but in modern engineering terms it's not that complicated. Just the equivalent of a big radio controlled train set really.
Schalke's stadium has this feature for almost 20 years
@@zargonthemagnificent330 its not really the same at all. Stop trying to downplay the engineers here.
Sheldon: cringe
@@jakebrown729 he has a fair point. It’s not exactly the most complicated thing ever
Got to admit, that is one amazing stadium. State of the art. Super modern

Fun Fact: They were only able to achieve the space required for this engineering feat by not building a trophy room in the stadium
24 trophies

@A James what does that even mean?
Francis Gray mate you forgot about the glorious audi cup. Some say it’s better than that champions league
no wonder spurs never have a transfer budget
They say the money needs to be spend on the pitch/field, Spurs took it to literally.
@@Markuden ye dude. i didnt even realise this stadium was so insane. Props to them for doing it. it may pay off in future.
They'll get that NFL money to sort that out tbf
Next 20 years for Spurs will be a Penny pinch.
This season spurs have been one of the highest spending teams. That’s because of Levy’s financial genius and the return from the stadium, so yeah it has been a pretty wise move for them.
Wow this stadium is impeccable, I was today's years old when I discovered such a marvel. Well done Spurs
It’s cool but it’s spurs
@@Alig-07 surprised they didn't bottle it

Real Madrid’s stadium which is currently being renovated will have a mechanism that allows the ground to open up and have the pitch go undergound for other ones to go up in it’s place. No dragging fields all the way out of the stadium. Also when they’re undergound there is an automated watering system that takes care of the pitches down there.
@@HK1_11It’s the same engineering, just vertical instead of horizontal. The same company is doing it.
What an engineering marvel! 🤯
Kudos Spurs owner... 👏

It's true you know
And the hockey rink beneath that
In Arnhem, The Netherlands, they move the whole field is moved in one piece to outside the stadium.
That way it will get sun and rain while outside.
The pit is not used for other sports but as a music theatre.
I've been in engineering all my life and worked on some incredible sites but this takes the my breath away
It's absolutely awesome.

Every other stadium: *just paints over it*
Spurs:
I think the yanks helped pay for it that's why
@@sdprz7893 yea they did, the stadiums been designed for NFL games probably more than football.
E.X. The changing rooms are at the other side of the stadium as in NFL teams walk out on opposing sides and so thats how it was designed as the yanks apparently couldnt handle walking out on one side at Wembley.
You gotta take in consideration that its just not Spurs pitch only but the national Team pitch as well. So you have to take care of the most impoertant pitch in England, and probably on of the most important places for soccer
J Carlos the international team plays at Wembley not here
Claret and blue army yeah they wouldn’t make the England team play in this shithole
this is what the colosseum must've felt like back in the early ADs
I know right calling football "Soccer" we live in very strange times 😒
Great analogy
Coincidentally, the Colosseum holds about as many spectators.
And the sand floor was on top of removable wooden boards, because they also had all kinds fancy machines in the basements.
@@erickeane471 yes it was a anally analogy
I bet the tiger pits were the equivalent of the moving pitch
"Its a natural thing to worry about the pitch."
Yep, completely natural to be worried about 9000 tonnes of motorized grass.
As an Arsenal fan it does pain me a little bit to say this. But this stadium is absolutely fantastic. (Even if it is just the Emirates 2.0 in terms of its design except for the NFL features) respect where it's due.
they did everything right what the emirate got wrong lol its nothing like emirate's in design lost with that comment
They got a stadium and u guys got a legacy (and a non empty trophy room)...and that part my friend, can't be bough with money. and this is coming from a Liverpool fan.
The debt seems enormous but with pl money champions league etc etc in 15/20 years it will be paid off and after that its all profit.
Why would that be painful? I've never heard someone saying om going to this club because they have amazing stadium
You do know that trophies aren’t only official after the 1992? Tottenham have won lots of trophies in the clubs history, obviously not as much as the top dogs but it’s still a legacy
Guess what: There's a basketball court below the NFL field
Chris Gouidas and an Olympic swimming pool under that!
And a racing track below that

All Spurs supporters should watch this video and appreciate more the wonder that is Tottenham Hotspur Stadium
just need the team to match the stadium quality now
AlmightyStarfire Oh dear , a palace with no furniture .
As both a spurs supporter and a huge nfl fan I’m amazed
@@ScrewInTheTuna_ Now we got Conte, and team is quality.
The football playing surface at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is composed of Desso GrassMaster hybrid turf. However, the stadium has the capacity for two pitches, with an artificial surface stowed under the football pitch for use in NFL games, concerts, and other events
Just info for anyone wanting to know what the pitch types are 👍
It actually uses a carpet-based hybrid grass called Playmaster by Tarkett Sports.
Thanks for the explanation because he didn’t say where the NFL pitch was stored.
I like the guy Richard was talking with when moving the pitch. He seems quite nice and knowledgeable.
It was released by “discovery Australia” so that’s why he calls it soccer
Its ironic how they (some places) call a ball game where you run with a ball in your hand football, buy a game where you use the ball 99% with your feet is called soccer. Well, both works.
Football was around before Australia and the USA by the way, so it's football not soccer. More to the point their games they use their hands on the pitch, we don't so they shouold cal their 'games' soccer.
Jerome It’s called football because the ball is a foot long.
They call it football in aus
no excuse, and most in aus call it football anyway
As a Arsenal fan, I will give full credit to Tottenham as the Stadium and pitch are World Class. Once a more normal World returns and Sport it will be amazing to visit the New Stadium and experience the atompshere!!
As an avid fan of plants, I will give full credit to the wonderful grass within the Tottenham Hotspur stadium.
Agreed

well you’re not a proper arsenal fan then
Whoopie, Stadiums have been doing this for 20 years in America.
Every single Richard Hammond documentary are worth to watch
Never thought as an Arsenal fan I would've watched a spurs video but this is astonishing.
It’s catering to mostly American viewership. That’s why he’s saying soccer.

Future Drive Games Australians are British Texans, so I’d like to think that it’s a mix of both.
I thought they repainted the pitch
My life is a lie
They did that in Wembley stadium. But not anymore, bcoz they've got this place.
They do that in older stadiums for sure
habeeb aga there are actually 2 London games. Well actually 4. 2 in the Tottenham Stadium and 2 still in Wembley.
Yaz yeah every other stadium on the planet paints the pitch, Tottenham’s is the only one in the world to do this
Everyone else does, this is the only one that doesn’t but it was only built the other year and it cost them a few billion so you’d expect it tbh 😂

Yeah but this is Tottenham.
Yes, one of the biggest differences between these two clubs, is that Real Madrid's museum is full of trophies and Tottenha's is empty.
Wow, what a beautiful stadium.
Great tour of the stadium but where is the trophy cabinet?
CheeseSteak17 Hahahahahahaha was expecting that.

Oooo.... that one might leave a mark....
its in the basketball court
With the 27 major trophy’s?
I just assumed they played on the same field and just repainted it. Seems a bit extra but very cool nonetheless.
@Nufc Magpies 123 you're no where in the ball park with that guess.
@Nufc Magpies 123 The entire stadium can cost upwards of 1 billion dollars. The field is 1 million to replace
The reason they did it this way was so both premier league games and NFL games can be played on the same weekend.
Pitch pitch pitch get it right
@@MikeTheGreat1994 was never designed for the same weekend. 1 nfl takes Wembley as first choice 2 it takes a bit of time to get the pitch fully ready it’s not just removing the football pitch there’s adding the goals and painting extra

This is a cool show, thanks Hammond!

In Gelsenkirchen, Germany, they slide out the whole feeld in ine piece. One stand rests on hydraulic supports that can be raised to make way for the huge concrete plate supporting the feeld. They don't move it into a car park aswell, they move it outdoors in front of the enclosed stadium.
Oh, and not to forget the best. They don't have a useless football feeld under it, there's just a congrete floor. This is create for concerts, car racing and even biathlon events.
ah, it all makes sense now, spurs is actually saving space by keeping the trophy room empty so that grass can be kept alive!
🤣

question: why is there an NFL pitch in England ??
There are multiple NFL games played in London every year. They were previously played in Wembley Stadium, but the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium became the new permanent host for it starting in 2019. Each game sells out, so there is a market for it.

There's something wrong with hearing a Brit call his national sport soccer

Annoying
Frisbe And your mums called a slag
It's because it's distributed for multiple markets where it's (unfortunately) known as soccer. Notice that he calls it football in a lot of the footage shot in the stadium. The "soccer" lines are recorded in voiceovers afterwards.
Frisbe n no it’s not mate
Frisbe it’s called football because you kick the BALL with your FOOT. Got it buddy?
Genius engineering !!
In Germany there is also a soccer-stadium (Veltins-Arena in Schalke) which can remove the field in one part. But they put it outside for better growing and watering.
When the field is at the outside you can do concerts or other shows on the concrete floor.
There is no room outside the stadium for that to happen at Spurs, that is why this system was designed, people keep saying that Stadiums in Holland and Germany have had removable pitches for many years, and we know that, but this is the first pitch that splits up and is stored inside the stadium.
It's a beautiful stadium - absolutely state of the art. Makes me wonder how amazing Old Trafford could be if the Glazers had invested in it...
