I find it interesting that the reaction is "I don't care about this stuff get back to work" That is a little how Franklin views himself which is how the addiction started. Also, with all the chaos you can imagine other staff being like help or get out of the way even if unintentionally. Things like that can have consequences...

I always liked Patricia Tallman on B5, but i really became a fan when I learned about her second career. She worked as a stunt double for many of the women in the Star Trek shows and movies! She regularly doubled for Gates McFadden and Nana Visitor. She even continued this work while playing Lyta on B5. In the movie Star Trek Generations, when Beverly Crusher gets pushed off the holodeck ship into the water, that's our girl Pat doing the stunt.

@Gerard, Lyta is only measured as a P5 for PsiCorp as a Commercial Telepath. When she went to the Vorlon Homeworld, they changed her. We don't know how powerful she actually is.
@Michael "Who's ships are those?" The large green sunfish looking ships are Brakiri. They look almost human with those wrinkly foreheads and deep set eyes. When the Shadows first started fighting openly a few episodes ago, they attacked the Brakiri first. We saw them talking with the alien inside the space suit and the weird bug eyes in that episode, the other aliens were called the Gaim, insectoids. The smaller ships that look like airplanes are Drazy Warhawks. Drazi are the Purple/Green guys. The flying saucers are from aliens called the Vree. We only see them once, the Grey Aliens.

Ulkesh is the same Vorlon who you have seen on Minbar. He was ambassador there and helped build the White Star. Kosh and Ulkesh were the two Vorlons most often leaving their empire to deal with other races in the Galaxy. Yes, he is more militant than Kosh, a tiny bit younger and is now basically a grieving titan of legend, pissed off it´s partner/spouse was murdered. So when you go all happy about prospect of it going into war, I get cold sweat. Vorlons pretend they are divine beings to other races, you want that kind of ego and power on a battlefield?

    • @Ruosteinenknight
      @Ruosteinenknight Před 6 dny +9

JMS said that while Ulkesh and Kosh held mutual respect towards each other, they also harbored suspicion towards each other. Ulkesh thought that Kosh was too soft and allowed the younger races too much leeway, where as Kosh thought Ulkesh is far too short tempered and worried what might happen without him as a moderating influence.

"Dwayne" is the very same one that was in Minbar at the beginning of ep 3x16, and in B4 with Valen at the end of 3x17.
The singer (Erika Gimbel) wanted medicine for pain management, but didn't want to talk about her disease, since she must've thought it'd be a buzzkill. I didn't know any terminal patient that I didn't know beforehand their situation, so I don't know how realistic this attitude would be.

This was also Sinclair's experience with Ulkesh, finding him cold and terse compared to Kosh during his stay on Minbar and in the past as Valen. He often wondered which of them represents the "typical" Vorlon.

I heard you guys say, you dont know what the writers were up to in this. There were no 'writers' per say. J. Michael Straczynski, creator of B5, wrote 92 out of 110 episodes. No one else has ever done such a thing. JMS wrote half of season 1, all of seasons 2 - 4, and most of season 5. So all of this is all part of JMS' big story which he plotted out in its entirety before the show was ever even made. He plotted it out a million years into the past, and a million years into the future. So Franklin's whole story with this woman, it is all going somewhere. I promise you that.

And the shitty part here about the Psycic things is that Lyta Alexander was a wee bit altered by the Vorlons during her stay with them and isn't exactly a P5 rating telepath any more... And if the Shadows were importing Psy-cops for their ships, well, those boys tend to be P10 and above.

We don't know how many telepaths the Shadows got. The ship they intercepted might have been the first given them from the PSI Corps. So it's possible that the Shadows don't have many ships with telepaths in them.
The thing about the Narn ship. It's useless without Babylon 5. they need a base to repair and resupply. Without a safe haven the Centauri will hunt it down sooner or later. The more so the other ships they might recover. They won't get them combat ready without a base. Sure, Sheridan going himself was foolhardy, but without him their alliance will fall apart and the Shadows will win. With that any chance for the Narn to get their homeworld back vanishes.
What I never considered is that the studio might have mandated to have the doctor on the station as a main character. It's quite possible. If you look back, the doctor one of the main characters in Star Trek for classic and TNG back then. On Babylon 5 you could make a show of it's own about medical staff. It's been mentioned that there is more than one medlab on the station and with 250,000 people they will always have something to do. Especially as they have to look after the combat readiness of the military part of the crew.

Level P 5 is not enough to suppress a Shadow ship. Her level increased the moment Sheridan touched her. Guess why.

My interpretation of "we are all Kosh" is that the Vorlon are not big on individuality, but they are not a true Hive mind. So individual names are not allowed. All are Kosh.

But they did have individual names. Kosh was their senior, their top dog. So, their allegiance was to Kosh, they all represented his principles

    Lyta is not a P5
She has been modified, she has gills to breath Vorlon atmosphere in S3E4 when she returned Franklin did a medical check up on her and determined she was in better health than when she left
Also, next episode, 19 "Grey 17 is Missing" is the worst episode in the show
There are 2 plots, Minbari which is great and Grey 17 which is just absolute nonsense
