- In this game of Civ 6, we’ll be playing as Catherine’s France, and my channel supporters have told me to look back at this version of Catherine I haven’t spent much time with!
Whilst I’ve played Catherine before, I found her to be slightly underwhelming. Turns out I was playing her wrong. Very wrong.
Welcome to one of the most secret overpowered strategies in Civ 6 right now!!! Court festivals for the win!!!
All maps, mods and tech support on getting these games to work are available on my discord, so swing by! If you want to help plan this series, consider becoming a channel supporter using the links below.

In mutiplayer, she was actually used to win one of the final games in the civ world championship. The format is played with teams in a 4v4, with the strategy being for your entire team to improve every lux as soon as possible and send to her and project to win early. She achieved a tourism victory turn 37 getting 7/6 tourist, while the opposing team had a pericles at 70+ culture trying to defend while she only had 9 culture
That's actually really cool!
You don't happen to have a link to a vod or something?
@EpicScizor don't want to post a link but you can search "trying to defend culture victory in cwc finals game 2" for the pov of the pericles player (jacktheripper)
Just imagine if Auckland was in this game. It would have been brilliant, Brilliant i say!
Or Hong Kong!
@@IndesliciveMelonI played a game where I had them both in and got Kilwa using a similar set up. It's was so good.
I was doing the projects in about 4 turns (with only workshops) with like, 18 civics left.
(I was also using owls of Minerva and had a bunch of trade routes that gave production from Singapore, democracy, and government cards)
Auckland and Nan Madol is such an overpowered combo on water heavy maps.

Wow, didn't expect it to emd in just two episodes! Amazing work!
Cheers! I really didn't think this tactic would work so well!
No joke, these special projects are the the most broken things in the game. Like with Pedro, you just run carnivals, and from the medieval era, you basically have monopoly on every engineer, merchant, writer, artist and musician. More musicians will park outside your cities, than the number of cities you have after a while :)
And if you think about it, this is the quintessential message the developers send to us - if you party hard enough, you'll win it all.
It's a lesson we should all learn!
Brazil might just have to be on my shortlist of people to play soon. Do the projects only give points for those particular GP, and is it an even spread of them all or just random? I haven't really looked deeply into how the project awards GPP.
@@jameshall1300 You actually get 11% of the invested production (on standard speed) towards each of those great persons. You basically push industrial zones and street carnivals/copacabanas, spam the project, and go for whatever win you want to get. It's insane :)
@@blaubeer8039 damn, that sounds pretty broken honestly. Now I have to try it.
I never knew this Civ was so powerful, I played them before but never even realized they had this project. I need to read more while playing Civ. Who knew that reading is so important LOL
I never knew it stacked so well either - lot's of fun!
btw synthetic technocracy is also 30% to city projects, not that it mattered :D
The Turtles make everyone “Happy Together!”.
Yay for Flo n Eddie
So impressive!
A new Ursa video?!? Magnificent!
Huzzah!
I slept for 14 hours by listening to your video.
I have never slept for so long in my life thank you
Hahaha - thank you I guess...???
Yesss!!! ❤ my favorite leader getting the love lol
Such a fun (and busted) strategy, gg.
Quite a magnificent victory! (See what I did there?) Cheers, Ivan :D
Very good :)
when i see her mask ,it is theme with Castlevania Nocturn i was watch she sure use some dark magic to win.
Finally some math on this channel!
I’d like to see a high appeal game soon!
Wow. Those festivals were so powerful.
So powerful!
I take back what I said last video! I wonder how fast you could get an optimised win with this?! I sense a new community challenge.
Trying to balance unlocking high production techs but minimising unlocking techs to keep the project cost down is an interesting puzzle and trying to expand like crazy to claim luxuries and develop massive gold to buy up all the AIs luxuries is a fun sub-game.
That would be a fun challenge! I'd like to see it = )
Hey man, I was wondering, does the Buenos Aires suzerain bonus affects the court festival?!?!
nice game BTW, as always 👍👍👌👌
Alas it does not, I don't think! Love the idea though = )
magnificent
Great Zimbabwe in paris would be amazing
you know if you did this in one of your super TSL maps with like 50 civs, you might be able to achieve a Tourist win. Catharine makes it possible.
got another challenge for you maybe. possible mixed with a bigger map. you play catharine, and you have corporations on. But you arent allowed to use corporations. its just to try and let the AI compete with you
I think it wouldn't work because the mod that lets you have 50 players doesn't count trourists past 20 players. Otherwise, I definitely would agree with these shenanigans
Ah but you see, her ability hits *everyone*. So itd hit the ones that do count *and* the ones that dont, ignoring if theyve been met or not.
The usual draw back in the huge tsl maps is that its impossible to tell which 20 count, and traditional tourism requires you to know them. This one, however, does not
If it actually does ignore the 20 player limit problem, then this would be completely and awesomely broken
awww what the holy turtles project and win
nice
Could be doing festivals in many cities. Even if they were slow to do.
Edit: You did it eventually and it was crazy powerful. That project does not need less production, it needs a nerf.
I think the policy for lower cost of tile buying would have served you greatly.
"Well that escalated quickly"
Delightfully effective!
Don't forget you can get Royal Society and dump builders into that project
🎉
royal society + court festival
It's a fantastic combo!
I also almost every time buy 20 units of whatever strategic I need but pays every time to buy 21 units instead, for said unit to be able to heal
Always a good option!
🖖
Did you choose archipelago as the map so that there will a lot of ocean, thus a lor of ocean based luxuries?
That's what I was thinking! I think pretty much any map can do it though provided the luxuries spawn. The bigger the better!
Huzzah!
Huzzah!
Feasting your way to a W? Huzzah!
Huzzah!
I always feel werid about turtles giving food, why are we eating the poor turtles
It's ok - we employ the turtles as cooks and they feed us!
Turtle soup is a thing, at least where I live in Hickville USA.
What if you work al your cities the festival very early but stop 1 turn before finish it. And then settle and grab al the luxeries and in the same tame finish all of them. Insetad win of wil the cost of the festival go up if you already work the project?
You know I'm not sure! Good question
How about a religious belief: food for duplicate luxuries?
That would be awesome - we need a mechanic like this in the game I think!
All the people going to gather?
Sounds a bit like Burning Man, or San Sebastian...
huzzah
Huzzah!
Here for 60
How did japan manage to put his city in less than 3 tile from Renne ?
I thought I was going crazy when I was asking the same thing.
Cities are allowed to be one tile closer together if they're on different landmasses.
@@chrizzie1 never happened to me yet
@@ravioli6649it works, even if your map pins say it won't. They have to either be separated fully by water, or be on a different continent if connected by land.
Is there another game mechanic that rewards luxury dupicates?
Without game modes I can’t think of any besides the World Congress giving the option to provide amenities for the duplicates of a luxury. Monopolies & Corporations can give you some benefits to gold and tourism.
Might be missing something though.
@@happyturtle9360yeah, me niether
It's pretty unique I think!
having too much fun in paris. hope robespierre wont hear this
69 luxuries... nice!
How do you switch between your cities so quieckly?
If on pc you can press [ or ]
There's also a key that's specifically for your capital iirc.
Early Bears!!!
Huzzah!
:)

Daily comment.
£513 - It's obvious this game is not being played in an optimised way when you chose to not build the University of Sankore.
And for that I apologise
🦀🎡🥳🎉
damn... you're gonna lose friends if you ever managed to finnese this out on a PVP match.
this is waaaaaaay worse that Bizantium printing ZERO COST horses or just being a pain in the ass with Babylon.
Good thing I don't play multiplayer = )
it would be rich people throwing pearls in the holes of a turtle shell as a national passtime. first you lube you hands in whale oil then try and flick the pearl in the hole
What a party that would be
