Make Better Pottery with LOBES!

- This week Ann downs a 6 pack of Michelob Beer and attempts to...oh, never mind. If you want to learn how to add some UMPH to your pots then you should think about LOBES! Yeah, they can add interest and pizazz to your pots. Ann made a I Dream of Jeannie bottle for Jim (so he could make his three wishes) but he promptly broke when filming it. Ann evidently got her first wish. Anyway, enjoy you loyal friends!

We typically bisque to Cone 04 and fire to Cone 5-6
Ann uses Standard English Porcelain no. 365 unless specified otherwise in the video

Great ideas Ann. One thought...for the straight-line challenged (like me!) a laser level is a fabulous tool. They're $10 - $15 on Amazon and work great as a throwing gauge as well. Thanks for all the how-to videos and ideas!

@@annruel1982 I wish I could take credit, but I got the idea from Old Forge Creations as well. It works great, is versatile, and less expensive than a commercial throwing gauge...and it doesn't get in the way!

This couldn't have come at a more apt time. This week I was trying to make bundt pans and lobes is what makes it a bundt pan but I was not having very good luck with them. This will help a lot, thanks.
Great minds think a like Vicki, haha. I hope that helps a little. Just remember that if you are going to stretch out the clay for the lobes, keep the clay a little thicker than you normally would throw it, right. Good luck!
I so enjoyed this video Anne, l have been away from pottery for about two years due to a bad rotator cuff, then a failed surgery. This just made-me long to get back to my wheel! Wonderful tutorial , exceedingly good.

I love Poppies my favorite is blue. You know you have to cast the seeds in snow and mulch end of January .Could you do Sapphire blue glaze with flowers?

Your pottery is amazing, absolutely love it. I see that your designs are not glazed with the clear glaze? Do you varnished them? Do you use wax resistance for the designs and the clear glaze?
