Gosh, you can really tell the quality of the cards from the video. Love the super close-up of the cards. The print quality - lines and colours - is stunning. I do think beautiful things should be used - if it were the actual original 1910 deck then maybe not. You clearly enjoyed handling them and we are here for such a short time that it is important to take pleasure and joy when we can. I had a feeling the Fool card would come in the post! How wonderful is Cheryl of Oneness Emporium.
Hmmmm. I'm glad i watched this. I was sooooo close to ordering it the other day. I LOVE all my other Taschen books and enjoy my tarot book library. However, it seems the outer packaging box is a little excessive, I'm not sure i can justify spending $125....I feel $25+ of that is just for the box 😂 Idk, I'll think on it and see if the price drops. I wish the book by itself was available. I have little interest in the deck it comes with 🤷♀️
I finally bought this and it should arrive tomorrow. I kept coming back to this video and finally treated myself to this book and deck. Thank you for such a great video and Namaste 🙏
What a beautiful set. Absolutely gorgeous and such an amazing reference book for RWS lovers. A wonderful purchase and a great review, thank you Simon. Enjoy. 🙏🏻💕
Wow. Just today I found out about this in the Internet. You video was the first one I watched for an unboxing. Looks stunning and massive. Maybe Taschen will release something similar about the Thoth Tarot one day. But this here is definitely on my must have list. Thanks for your video presentation and greets from Germany.
What an absolutely beautiful set Simon 😍 so pleased you were able to purchase it for yourself as a Christmas gift. This is definitely a must for you. The quality just looks amazing, I know Taschen generally is I have their Witchcraft book. The cards look lovely too, they look to be very nice quality and I love the black and gold packaging with the red inside. Excellent walkthrough my friend 😍❤️
Lucky you. My deck would not come out of the sleeve. Glued in or too tight, I had to rip it open. Very sad. On top of that, the World card on the front of the display box was crooked and not squarely placed upon the indented portion provided.
@@the_hermits_cave Also, I decided to return for a replacement. Watching you handle it with ease made me realize how poorly mine was produced. Thank you for the inspiration. Otherwise, it's a beautiful set and I can't wait to get one I don't need pliers to handle!
I read your review on Amazon, I think. I actually took it out of my cart. Lol. I was like for $125 no thanks. I'll watch this video and see what I think. Lol
@@tarottarantulas I felt the honesty was important in that review but I will come back an re-review should the "return and replace" work out which I really hope it does. The book is beautiful, and had all worked as Simon's, I would have felt it was worth the hefty price tag and I would have written a glowing review. My deck sleeve issue may have been a one off as Simon's did not have that issue. Crossing fingers my replacement will be trouble free!
Thanks for showing this deck, this has made me want it all the more now, and in Australia it is $179.90 aud and will be released on the 12th of January, although knowing booktopia and will probably end up being delayed
I just received a copy of this. It is beyond awesome! Everyone mentions that the Queens were before the Kings. I remember seeing somewhere in some system, Queens came first.
For anyone, for had a hard day opening the deck: fixate two long parallel ribs on the top with thumb and index fingers of the left hand. Use your right hand to hold the inner part and pull it up. Main trick is your left hand fixating outer part - that is all
Steel Wizard is such a disappointment. I bought it twice and both times it had different cosmetic errors. Bent edges first time and the second time; the cards cut so uneven there is a white line going down the back of all the cards. Im happy you had a little better of a deck. Anyway, Im here for this deck. I would love to get it! Lucky 🍀 you!
I just bought this set. The card thickness is close to the original printing. Much thicker than the centennial. The quality of the printing in my opinion is also much better than that of the vintage blue box and the crackle back A.E. Waite by AGM. The 70's Blue box was also recoloured for its printing so there are differences between it and the genuine pam A. I just love the replica Keys to the Tarot booklet. :) From what I have seen this is the best reprint of PAM A since the 1910 edition.
I wanted this so much, but had to be sensible his month. I am watching now to see whether to save for it or not! I’m hoping I’ll be put off - I’m not going to be am I?
So, I would have thought the scan would have been Kanji's scan rather than Saskia's. Maybe she has both but she always talks about her R&L deck being scanned. Either way, even though I'm bleeding money right now, I'm going to try to figure out a way to get this. Thanks for the review, as always. :)
@@the_hermits_cave I have the roses and lillies and Pam A after watching your reviews. I got my first blushing fool in 2022 after watching a review you did also. I’m trying to cut down this year but I love an RWS deck.
Mine hasn't arrived yet. I doubt I'll use it for reading but I will use it for study. My Dali Tarot by Taschen gets used in the same way. Great video, thanks!
Indeed a very beautiful set 👍🏼but this is kind of pricey for what you get , around 125$ for that set is expensive. The book 📕 looks great but the deck not even gilded, and the “pictorial key to the tarot “ is very small , looks like a pocket booklet, should have been bigger in my opinion. I would buy the book alone, but the deck no. I have in my collection RWS decks that looks the same or even of better quality than the one that comes in the set. But thank you for this excellent review, as always Simon 🤗🌹🪬
What I understand it is trying to replicate the original, so the cards wouldn’t be gilded and the key to the tarot book is the actual size of the original from 1910.
@@the_hermits_cave I like the centennial and the giant rider, recently ordered the small yellow box and the colours were horrible, also very basic card stock. I’m awaiting for my erenberg copy to arrive. Thankfully we can get Conrad’s decks, they are great. Also I hope they will stop printing the copyright on the cards from now on, I noticed the new Aquarian doesn’t have it.

Wow beautiful packaging. TASCHEN always creates wonderful books. Definitely works of art to be displayed as well as a great read.
Thanks for doing this review, I’ve been curious about it. Looks beautiful, Taschen does not disappoint!

I’d love to know this as it does look lovely but I’m on the fence as whether to break the bank for it.
@@frantarot_and_the_scorpio8505 same. I feel like I would be spending so much on just the box. Lol. I wish I could just get the book.
Conrad’s decks are great quality reproductions. They are on MPC playing card stock if you are familiar with that.
