Are they not wearing wetsuits anymore during pool training. When I went through AST A school we wore the shorty wetsuits which made everything way more difficult? Just curious if they changed that. That Pool is a blast to train in though, loved my time there.
are you still in? im 27 with tons of water time extremely comfortable with swimming and extended period breathe holds. Im just so damn skinny its tough for me to add any sort of muscle or fat but i want to be a swimmer so badly
Quick question I’m really interested in becoming an AST I feel that is my calling. Would doing CrossFit then go to the pool for more training for about an hour everyday be a good system to get ready for AST A school?
I recommend more work. I'm interested in going in the same direction. I have buddies that have been through it and they say it's the toughest training in the military. So I personally recommend doing a ton more like running and a bunch of leg and arm workouts along with stamina workouts and pool exercises.
In school this is the training schedule… M,W,F Land PT 6-9 Pool 9:30-11:30 Lunch 11:30-12ish Pool 12ish-3pm Tues,Thurs 7-9 Regen (active recovery) 9-11 classroom 11-12 lunch 12-3 classroom
Double days and more training will definitely show your body, mainly your CNS, how to adapt to the increased workload. But be careful, don’t overdo it before even going to school. 12 weeks before school I didn’t do anything gnarly in the gym. Just maintained where I was and focused on mobility and flexibility.
You just put them on with both hands. Or one hand if you’re talented. Then you “clear” your mask by blowing air out of your nose and slightly tilting the mask upward from the bottom of the mask.
Technically, yes. But you still have to get qualified as a aircrew member and then get qualified as a rescue swimmer to operate with the helicopter and other rescue devices.

@@mrjwil2012 I was towing a 220lb heavy man 0.37 miles, and a 175lb fully dressed person for 0.37 miles.. I had this test for the lifeguard license... and I'm a girl 5'3 Is that good? Would I qualify for AST school if I would practise a lot?

Yea you don’t wear the shorties no more. And school is 6 months instead of the 18 weeks. Split into 3 phases
