Is the Nikon D90 still a STRONG camera in 2023?

  • Yes. It's still a VERY capable camera in 2023 and on! This camera was my first camera into the 'mid-range' enthusiast cameras after I sold my D40 for this back in 2010-2011. I LEARNED photography and camera settings with this camera and it was an excellent camera to learn with, especially since I used the older Nikon D lenses with it. I would HIGHLY recommend this camera for beginners, especially if most of the newer cameras are far out of your budget.
    Grab a decent portrait lens to go with it and you'll be set!

      Definitely ! I brought mine while trekking in Scotland, Japan, Finland countless times. The worst weather possible hasn't killed this camera. Pretty much immortal. Even now, nearly 15 years after I bought it, still working perfectly.
      Also, as long as you don't attempt to make videos, a single battery lasts for days. Compared to newest models that's a huge benefit.

    Great camera, bought the D90 back in 2008 and have used it until last year 2022 when mirror got stuck while traveling through Korea. Tried every trick found on the web without success, and repairing seemed more than the camera was worth.
    Did some research and decided to go with Sony A7M4 and two zoom lens in Korea, paying about 20% less than if I had bought them back in the US.
    I was so attached to D90, I held onto it; and while traveling through the Philippines, found a camera shop that was able to repair it for less than $70. Love both cameras.

    i bought the Nikon D90 in 2010. It was my choice against newer cameras for the balance between price and performance. I haven't used it a lot beyond 2012, and it was basically in the bag. I haven't been too much into photography and don't have other cameras to compare it with, apart from my iPhone, but I really liked this video today. I've dug out my D90 and maybe will use some of it in the coming days. Maybe an upgrade next year.

    Great informative video! It's a great camera. I too had and still have the Nikon D90 which has been used for many of my travels to Japan, NYC, Paris, Rome, the Caribbean etc along with my 18-200mm vr lens. • @888timesmart
      @888timesmart Před 8 měsíci

      @@tourinojacks5844 The 750 is by far the best in low light since it is full frame. After that, I think the other two are close, but operate pretty differently. For travel, the 5600 is smaller and has the swivel screen. The 7000 has more features, faster shutter, dual cards and such. But for being so old, the 90 still astonishes in color and sharpness.

    In 2010, I used a D90 for about 6 months and quickly sold it again because I missed the aperture sensor ring (I needed that for MF lenses).
    I kind of still miss it; it has a 2nd gen sensor (a very nice Sony CMOS, where most other camera's had CCD sensors at the time) and was actually better than a Nikon D300 or even a D2x... Nice that it came in the package of a D40; small, lightweight.
    At the time I only used it with AF-S lenses because they were a lot faster focusing than AF-D lenses (the AF CPU and the motor in the D90 for AF-D are not that fast/strong).

    • @BoostLeekdMedia
      @BoostLeekdMedia  Před rokem

    I bought my D90 in 2009, then a Sony NEX 7 in 2011, and then a Nikon D800 in 2013. I love them all and still use them all. The D800 is for my serious art work, but when travelling on holiday I have my trusty Crumpler bag with a 2 rig set-up. The NEX 7 has its 18-55 lens (and I have printed flawless 1 metre wide shots with this) and the D90 has a Sigma 10-20. This pair gives me everything I need for my travel photography needs. The Sony NEX 7 is still awesome, but the build quality of the Nikon's is incredible.

    Stumbled here after seeing a review of the D90. First camera for me was the Nikon D50. I thought it was amazing and was impressed with the vibrant colors and the fact that it seemed to make my photography better than I was able to do. later I abandoned Nikon for Canon after too much research. One thing that is a noticeable distinction between the two is the interchangeability of lenses between the Rebel and the xxd series Canons. Of note particularly is the IS capability - still interchangeable between the entire camera lineup. This has become more prominent as the DSLR market ages. There are a LOT of lenses available on the used market. Although I have a soft spot in my heart still for Nikon, I have capitulated to the incredible number of options of Canon in terms of lenses, at least. OF course, once you have invested in glass, it sets your direction for a long time. Still love the Nikons though...

    • @BoostLeekdMedia
      @BoostLeekdMedia  Před 4 měsíci

      Thank you for sharing! Interesting experiences you had with your Canon cameras and lenses. It seems that Canon and Nikon were neck and neck in terms of photography and lenses. Canon definitely has the upperhand for video performance though. But totally agree with you about the glass. A good piece of glass, goes a long ways in your photography journey. Appreciate you sharing your experiences.

    My first DSLR was the D3200 i still currently have. When i was first looking into getting into DSLRs a few years ago the D90 was still one of the top ones to pick up. But at the time they were not very affordable to someone like me who was just making the transition from Digital zoom cameras like the Coolpix L120. Even then it still took me a few years to even get my D3200. When i started looking at this level of camera the D3000s were just coming out. But now that i am in a better position financially i am seriously considering the idea of picking up a used D90 as well as a D7000 or 7100 to have as secondary cameras to use with my D3200 which i may still end up picking up a spare one of that body as well.

    • @BoostLeekdMedia
      @BoostLeekdMedia  Před rokem

      I think the D7000 (or even the D7100) would make for a nice camera to partner up with your D3200. The only reason I would go with the D90 is the price of one compared to the D7100. I haven't seen the D7100 go lower than $300 around my town but I have seen plenty of D90's on sale for under $150 but those are gone almost immediately.

    • @OutlawH2
      @OutlawH2 Před rokem

      @BoostLeekd Media on the site I'm looking at them on they are comparable in price. They have the D3200s at great prices too that's why I might grab a spare D3200 or D3300 as well. I liked my D90... mostly, but I happened to pick up a faulty one, which had the infamous Green Light of Death issue. (Basically, it drains the battery like crazy even if it's turned off.) Good quality of images, decent set of features, but only buy one if you are confident that particular example doesn't have this problem. These days I would rather go for a D7100 instead which is vastly more advanced (not just megapixel-wise, but the AF system as well, etc.) and can be had for quite reasonable prices.

    I recently purchased a second-hand D90, which comes with 18-105mm 3.5-5.6g and 50mm 1.8D lenses. In the past few years, I used my phone for photography, and the D90 is very suitable for beginners to start with DSLRs. Unfortunately, the D90 is not very useful when there is insufficient light

From what I'm seeing, depending on the condition the bodies, I have seen the D7000 bodies go for under $200 and I've seen plenty for under $150 but those are almost immediately sold. So, that's a sign that they're still VERY popular.
      I still remember the D90 and D7000 era as well. But the D7000 definitely had the better tech. Either way, the great thing about the D7000 is that you can utilize the amazing line of Nikon lenses.

      If we're talking about convenience and portability, the 15pro is the clear winner. If we're talking about image quality, the D90 will the one photographers go to. If you know what you're doing, the image quality obliterates the 15Pro. The 15Pro's zoom (or "telephoto") will produce unusable images compared to a D90 with a $80 55-200 VR lens.

    Сейчас 2023 год. Просто по приколу купил себе данную камеру. Короче, это "Dark side of the moon" на виниле...
