  • Leaving Owl Harbor Marina after a decade feels like bidding farewell to a piece of my heart. The friendships formed here over the years have grown into something akin to family. These dockside neighbors have shared innumerable sunsets, stormy nights, and the simple joys of life afloat. But as we prepare to embark on a journey to explore the world, we can't help but feel the weight of saying goodbye.
The bonds forged over a decade at Owl Harbor Marina are deeper than the waters that surround us. We've laughed, celebrated, and supported each other through life's highs and lows. Leaving these dear friends, who have become like a second family, is a heart-wrenching challenge. Their absence will be deeply felt as we venture into the unknown.
As we set sail to explore new horizons and embrace the adventures that await, we carry with us the cherished memories of Owl Harbor and the friendships that have become an integral part of our life. The difficulty of leaving is a testament to the richness of the experiences we've shared, and we hope to return one day, knowing that these friendships will endure, no matter the distance or time apart.

    -----------------------------------
We’re Jeni and Rich. We’re really just a couple of average Joes. In a nutshell we met and married in our early 20s; I graduated from college in my late 20s; adopted two cats and a dog in the late 90s; sold a house and bought a new house in our mid 30s; then sold the new house and moved onto a sailboat in our early 40s. In between all that we had a bunch of fun like camping, scuba diving, watching hockey games (Go Red Wings!), concerts, traveling, spear fishing, restoring a 1963 Chevy II Nova; spending time with family and friends. A few years ago we decided to lay off all the fun-having to fix up this old boat. We figure if we put our noses to the grindstone for a few years, we’ll be able to travel for a few years and do all the fun things we’ve missed.

Congratulations! Many people dream of this day but few actually do it. How exciting to start your adventure. I remember our send off from Long Beach, CA. It was bittersweet but well worth it. Have fun and be safe!

It has been incredible to watch your dream turn to an adventure. I’ve never known two people like you; the work you have done, your skills, your abilities, and most of all your friendship. I love you both and will miss our face to face laughs - but. I’ll be watching 😎. Take care of our little girl, she’s lucky to be on this journey with her two favorite people. Can’t wait to see you soon❤❤❤

I bet you are well liked and will be missed at your old marina. I about as freaked out as the cat. When you shook the hornets nests out of the main sail and bought $500 of diesel I knew it had been a while. Go get them. Join a cheap yacht club as the reciprocal moorage can give you cheap moorage and services. Especially if your cruising. Most people leave in the spring, not you guys. Good luck. To only have 4-6 ships left in Sassoon bay is crazy.
