This week we travel 15 hours from Santa Rosalia to San Francisquito. Rich tries out his new fishing gear while I heckle him from the dinghy. The weather was dreary and we spent a lot of time chillng on the boat until tragedy struck.

We’re Jeni and Rich. We’re really just a couple of average Joes. In a nutshell we met and married in our early 20s; I graduated from college in my late 20s; adopted two cats and a dog in the late 90s; sold a house and bought a new house in our mid 30s; then sold the new house and moved onto a sailboat in our early 40s. In between all that we had a bunch of fun like camping, scuba diving, watching hockey games (Go Red Wings!), concerts, traveling, spear fishing, restoring a 1963 Chevy II Nova; spending time with family and friends. A few years ago we decided to lay off all the fun-having to fix up this old boat. We figure if we put our noses to the grindstone for a few years, we’ll be able to travel for a few years and do all the fun things we’ve missed.

Some interesting tidbits about Punta Chivato. Posada de las Flores is an abandoned hotel located in Punta Chivato, Baja California Sur. The hotel was once a luxury destination, favored by celebrities such as John Wayne and frequented by the famous oceanographer Jacques Cousteau. I just wanted to say that I've been watching your videos for some time and you are one of my favorite sailing channels. Your videos are informative - both the sailing, nature, and DIY. You guys have a great energy together and your videos feel REAL - a rarity in the CZcams sailing world. I totally understand feeling burnt out with all the video work. It's no easy task. Perhaps consider cutting back the number of videos so you have more time for yourselves. Thanks for sharing your stories and your sage advice. I've learned a lot from your channel. Safe and fun travels!

Mine broke and dropped 250’ of chain and a 75 lb anchor that had to be hand hauled twice. Powerboat so no winches. Rigged a raising system 2’ at a time. No more teasing about windlass. Or is this on the separate fresh water side from the other water pump and exchanger?

You give the impression that the ADP is a sacrificial diode and will need to be replaced if the alt is cut out at high amps. We're already liking it here. Tomorrow, marina staff will shuttle us around town to handle immigration, port clearance, and a TIP. Everyone has been super friendly and helpful. It seems you dodged a bullet at Mission Bay that we did not. Apparently, there's been a large jib floating around below the surface of the anchorage for years. When departing there for Ensenada at 3 AM Friday, the engine suddenly stopped and we were adrift. Yes, we had wrapped our prop with that jib, and spent much of the day separating the two. Fortunately, there was no noticeable damage to prop, shaft, or transmission, and we were able to leave the following day for Mexico.
