I don't think anyone who has been following this channel has missed the fact this is a very rare occurrence. Hearing from Zeal and Joe talk about the high standards and the excellence of everything that is being done is a confirmation. Leo has given all of us a very rare opportunity to see what is possible in this world filled with mediocrity. I haven't contributed a great deal but I feel a sense of pride in what has been accomplished. This is so rare in life. Thank you Leo and thanks to all the folks who volunteered along the way as well as the professionals who brought their skills to this project. And please take us along as the adventure continues. We once made it to the Moon but for some reason are incapable of doing so now.
What Leo has done is akin to the first Moon landing. A determination to see the plan through and an ability to gather together a crew of like-minded people with incredible old-world skills gives us hope that we all might just make it if there are enough Leo's to go around.

If I could make one suggestion about the videos of tally Ho traveling, it would be nice to include a line on a map showing it's journey. A lot of ppl aren't going to recognize straits, ports, or other places simply by name as it goes along or understand the distances being traveled between them, a visual on a map would make that all intuitive though.

7 years ago this channel randomly appeared in my YT feed, very early on Leo had a volunteer who was wearing an Acorn to Arabella t-shirt, can't recall his name at the moment, but I looked up the channel and saw their 10k lb lead keel pour video and was instantly hooked to 2 boat building channels, both unique in so many ways, but equally compelling and interesting stories. Being a restoration carpenter for most of my adult life you have both taught me how to be a better carpenter, how to figure out complex problems with rather simple methods, priceless insights into pattern making, etc... thank you both for such a wonderful journey of discovery rebuilding and building classic wooden sailing vessels. Back in April 2017, I moved into my newly acquired 300+ years old house, embarking on a major solo restoration project and I have been living on a construction site ever since. With my TV being safely stowed away, my interest in naval history and CZcams’s algorithm cleverly conspired to make me discover Tally Ho just as Leo had posted his second or third episode. I’ve been firmly on board for the ride ever since and have thoroughly enjoyed every single second. Twice over, that is. I even toyed with the idea of flying over to the US to help on Tally Ho for a while, but sadly that was not practicable on top of my own project.
Leo’s dedication to doing the right thing right is just absolutely awesome and so are the results as today’s video again shows. His videos have not only been a way for me to relax on weekend evenings, but also a source of much learning about woodworking, and sometimes even a motivator and inspiration to get restarted on solving some nasty problem in my own project that had me stomped for a while.
Seeing Tally Ho leave for a first real voyage after 7 years is just so incredibly rewarding! Some tears have been shed over here today and the past weeks…
PS: I recently started to rewatch the whole series because I just can’t get enough of it! Seeing Leo “once more” manipulate the keel timber on his own; relofting the boat; calculating frame bevels; notching frames into the keel one by one; etc. etc. etc., while now better knowing how much more is still to come, just makes one realize even more the enormity of the work, compared to what I had imagined originally. A bit like with my house, actually… 😉

The guys working on the boat were discussing "who had the sharpest chisels" and all agreed that it was Leo, who then went on to show us all how he kept his tools sharp. After watching another couple of episodes I went back to the very beginning to watch each and every episode from day one, and what a journey its been. 7 years. Wow. I have been following this channel for 7 years. A video comes out every two weeks on a Sunday. I sit in my room or the front red chair and watch it. What a journey it's been. It's not a restoration but a complete rebuild but using all the original plans. Leo has been absolutely thorough in his work. Meticulous and precise. It's been a joy to watch it all. As someone remarked, it has moved from being a boat rebuild channel to a sailing channel as of today. Can't wait to see the videos in this second part.
Thank you for making brilliant masterfully produced videos of this whole process, explaining everything in so much detail, for introducing everyone to us and allowing us to watch them do their work. It's been an absolute delight in every way. Im a non sailor in Kuala Lumpur and I cannot say it enough how much I've enjoyed watching these videos for the last seven years.
This series has been about boat building, boat restoration, but also about having a dream and not giving up, about working with people, the relationships, about leadership, decision-making, about systems and materials, about wood, about craftsmanship, the art of making something well, about the notion of excellence, about people and places, about lovely pets, about video production, music selection, script writing, editing, what have I missed, and more.
Thank you. Happy sailing, happy adventures. Well done.

This is one of the most thoughtful, deliberate, and satisfying “CZcams” projects I’ve ever had the pleasure of watching the progression of. Your companions are a crew that is worthy of Tally Ho and I’m just so, so pleased for all of you but especially Leo. That Tally Ho’s new strength comes, in part, from live oak from the part of the world where I was born pleases me so.
There aren’t always such physical, tangible results from our efforts and seeing this vessel underway and alive again, her shrouds taut and lines so fair, makes me feel proud of humans.

I've watched you from the beginning, and what an absolutely monumental task that was and what a pleasure to have witnessed. The level of knowledge, craftsmanship, skill, and attention to the slightest of detail, Tally Ho got everything she deserved and then some. Thanks for doing what you do. Keep it up, Enjoy her now, enjoy the summer, and safe sailing.

hey Leo, it is great to see you enjoy the fruits of your labor. My Dad and I have watched from the very beginning as he was from New England and loved the sea and the old sailing ships. He got me interested in your channel by showing me your first video and I was hooked. Unfortunately he passed in Jan 2022 a few days after he and I watched Ep 115 . He was very excited about the ep and was looking forward to seeing the project finished. I just wanted to let you know that there are those who have been brought together, sharing moments together and making memories, watching your channel huddled around a computer screen or a TV or phone that you may never know of, or hear about their stories, this is one out of thousands I am sure. So As a lover of the sea his spirit goes with you and I look forward to sharing in your further adventures via these videos. Safe travels to you and your crew!!

Upon the morn, 'neath skies so bright, The sailboat Tally-Ho took flight. Long hath she rested, 'pon the shore, Now she doth sail, her heart doth soar.
With canvas spread and mast held high, She cleaves the waves, 'neath azure sky. Her timbers creak, yet strong they stand, As she embarks from yonder land.
O’er briny deep, 'cross tempest’s roar, Tally-Ho sails, to seas once more. Her journey new, her spirit free, A vessel proud, 'pon boundless sea.

I remember watching early on thinking it was a beautiful dream, but most likely would be very hard if not impossible to make a reality. And then the project started gaining real traction! When Leo announced they had enough funds to do proper bronze works on the ship, is when I realized this project was not just a dream anymore but it would be finished to the highest standards. What followed was more beautiful than I could have imagined. An incredible accomplishment for everyone involved, but especially Leo for pushing through even when times were tough.
