  • The Chevrolet Corvette is one of the most popular and recognizable sport coupes on the road today. In this video, Edmunds' Alistair Weaver takes a look at two different Corvettes, the 2023 Corvette Z06 and our own 2020 Corvette Stingray, and runs down the top 10 differences between them. At Edmunds, we have been a big fan of the Corvette for years, and the 2020 Corvette was the Edmunds Top Rated Sports Car for 2020. The new 2023 Corvette Z06 offers power, great handling and even comfort on the road. But what separates these two sport coupes that are only two years apart and in the same generation? Watch to find out. This is our comparison of the 2023 Chevy Corvette Z06 vs. 2020 Corvette Stingray.

    The Corvette doesn’t lose anything when you go up in trim level, it just gets better. The Z06 also has MRC 4.0 dampers, which means it’s ride quality will remain significantly versatile. The system shouldn’t necessarily *lose* any abilities in softness but I expect great gains in stiffness and maybe reaction time to put holes, imperfections on city roads, etc. on the Z06. But the Z06 didn’t just get a performance upgrade, it’s also more luxurious than the Stingray which again supports my point that it’s just a better Stingray and didn’t necessarily “lose” anything. Just my $2.00.

So you still get the high revving flat plane crank spitting out nearly 700 horses, without the stiff ride quality that you referenced. So while an absolutely maxed out Z06 with a carbon fiber wrapped Z07 package might leave you at $150k; you can still walk away with a Z06 sub $100k.

I need to know is the interior wider or not. Is the interior cabin wider, yes or no in the Z06? Is the headroom taller in the Z06 then the Stingray, yes or no? This is the information that it seems nobody has talked about. Because for me, if the exterior is wider only on the Z06 and the interior space is the exact same on both. I don't see a lot of youtubers mentioning this (prob cuz it's not that necessary) but 345mm wide tires are not just simply wider tires than Stingray. The only wider tire on a road car is used by Bugatti Veyrons and Chirons which use 355mm tires, and nothing else. This Corvette Z06 tires have the same width with cars like Porsche 918 Spyder, Ferrari LaFerrari, Koenigseggs and more of these crazy cars. Of course the prices of these tires will be huge and it'd be pain in the ass to even find the right size, but I find this to be another fascinating features of the Z06.
    It's difficult for a Stingray to reach 0-60 under 3 seconds cuz it's rear wheel drive, tires are 305mm Michelin PS 4S, and it has 495hp. However, since Z06 has 670hp and 345mm CUP 2R, with the correct launch control system equipped, I think it'll be possible for Z06 to reach 0-60 in their claimed 2.6 seconds.

    One additional difference to be noted. The Z06 has summer only tires. The Stingray has all season tires which, if you live northern USA, enables year round use. Not sure if all season tires are available for Z06 rims.

    • @newatlantisrepublic6844
      @newatlantisrepublic6844 Před 2 lety +2

      it's the normal sounds a high performance engine makes when it has a fairly unrestricted exhaust system. It's unburnt fuel hitting the exhaust and igniting usually exaggerated by lean conditions due to the higher exhaust temps. If you have the stock exhaust or have the NPP exhaust in quiet mode you will rarely hear it but it's quite pronounced with the NPP exhaust in the open position.

I deeply regret waiting. The V8 mid engine manual transmission "discount exotic" of my dreams didn't come to fruition. I understand not pairing the high winding LT6 with a manual. Not offering it for the LT2, regardless of chassis engineering excuses GM offers, is inexcusable. I'm now in a position to buy what I want and there's nothing to buy.
