Be mindful of the blanket's filler. My weighted blanked uses glass beads, and in my experience during the cold winter, it acts like a giant heatsink, sapping my body heat and leaving absolutely freezing in the morning. I think it's the glass absorbing the heat instead of trapping it, and then distributing the heat to the much colder outside air.

During the 50s and 60s in Michigan, in a typical 1940s built, un-insulated home... with an oil heater in one room -- the main/living room -- it got really, really, cold in the winters... Soooo, we all learned to sleep with 5 to 8 blankets. They were heavy. There weren't any "high tech" lightweight blankets available...
Interestingly, it took decades before I could sleep -- without -- this weight... 😴 Even in the hotter climates I moved to.
I've heard it suggested that the feeling is the same that swaddling creates for infants. If true, I was an infant for 30+ years. LOL!

I've been using anxiety blankets for over three years and not only does it give you this feeling of being hugged ECT but for me there is a feeling of protection. Not only I feel hugged at night but I sleep better due to the thoughts that I'm also being protected.

I wish they would make a blanket with 12x24 pockets. So you can take them out and wash them in the washing machine, each 12x24 2 lbs section. You can't wash these in the washing machine. You would still have to take them to a laundromat. How do you clean them?

Weighted blankets are awesome, but sleeping on the floor is awesomer :) ! No, really, I bought a weighted blanket because I was very stressed and it helped, but I still struggled to fall asleep. A few months later, due to back pain, I slept on the floor for several days and when I went back to my memory foam mattress bed, I realized that sleeping on a hard surface was something similar to a weighted blanket. You can feel your body and the pressure from the floor. On the floor I fall asleep very quickly in comparison to when I'm in bed. It's very uncomfortable at the beginning, but once you get used to it, you will never go back to a regular bed! I don't sleep on the floor per se, but on a yoga mat and a folded blanket, yet it's a very firm surface, but nos as firm a hard floor, of course. And I still use my weighted blanket, so I have the benefits of both at the same time.
