I initially tried a 15 lb blanket and it was too much for me when I was at my worst. I felt smothered and panicky. … but as I have heard various people share on the topic, I liked the advice of trying different sizes and weights and seeing what your nervous system responds best to. One practitioner mentioned having a child’s 5 lb blanket that she uses on her legs when at her desk. … the 5 lb blanket is a game changer for me!! For reading, on the couch, at my desk. … and I do hope as I get stronger that I will eventually love the 15lb one as much for sleeping.
Thank you Raelan for mentioning that restless legs got worse as you were incorporating more exercise as you got better! Okay, so I am not crazy!!😅 It is good to know this is just a stage and I will get through this!!

I have a 15 lb one and I weigh 125. I cannot sleep under it-I feel smothered and crushed but when you suggested using it on the couch I tried that, and it is good-thanks! 😊

Not tried mine on the sofa, but I often put a normal blanket over me. Will try my weighted one later. I use it to sleep in the summer, a cooling one for menopause, but again will try it tonight perhaps turned round

I have one and I forget to use it for many things. Thanks for the reminder. I'm also going to get another one. They are heavy.

I have one, it helped me having more restful sleep. It makes me feel safer, I fall asleep sooner and I move a lot less. I don’t use it much these days but I should try using it on the couch for relaxation !
These blankets are heavy and it takes a few days to get used to it, when I got mine there was a recommendation to use it only on the legs for the firsts nights and then try to cover more, so that not to feel trapped and crushed. It doesn’t work for everyone but it’s worth a try !
And I would be very careful if you’re in severe me/cfs, as just trying to move under the blanket could very well cause a crash. And you’ll need someone to move it for you.

I had raging restless legs some years back which went away when I dumped wheat & sugar & adopted a whole food natural unprocessed diet with some supplements (especially Magnesium & the awesome B vitamins, so crucial for the nervous system).
And…..years ago we visited a great aunt when I was a child. That night I slept in a bed with a sheet, a blanket & two quilts/bedspreads. It was soooooo heavy. We had duvets so I wasn’t used to the weight. It’s so long ago now, but I guess I must have slept pretty well as I don’t recall any issues.

I tried my mom's wieghted duvet. I think 7 kg. Too hot. And I found I would probably prefer a lighter weight. I ended up with a furry blanket, lowest weight class. Perfect, except it's too short, so I need a blanket at the foot of my bed if I stretch my leg out. But it was cheap (Rusta - Norway and Sweden), and when it gets smelly I'll just buy a new one. I also found it's great when I'm on a very narrow recliner. It falls down on either side of my body, reducing the gaps where chilled air gets in. Regular blankets I have to tuck in to avoid that.

I just put dumbells on top of a light blanket.
In all seriousness, this video is consistent with my experience. Significant improvements in symptoms, as crazy as that probably sounds.

I wish I could tolerate a weighted blanket. I tried one and it made me feel pinned down and trapped. If I tried to roll over in bed it hurt my shoulder.

A friend got me one for 2020 Christmas when I could not even lift my body and toss around and I got so upset 😖 that I was not even polite but like a child, I cried to her to take it away how because my body was heavy enough to carry and move.
