Outside of the V8, it is hard ro pick the GMC over the Ford. While I do like the color scheme of the Ultimate, Ford's seats are likely still best in class, and you cant argue with how useful the Powerboost hybrid system is. Plus the update of the Ford's styling is growing on me.

It’s not hard at all. The GMC still looks better inside and out and it’s the only truck with the specific features it has. Neither Ford nor Stellantis can compete with the truck like feel and driving characteristics of the Sierra, build quality or caliber of technology *gm* is offering as standard equipment in a D. Ultimate.
I might be in the minority, but Ford has a better exterior and interior to me. Not to mention the PowerBoost engine with the 7.2KW inverter which is a HUGE deal imo. I also can't get over that ugly ass joystick shifter GM implemented. Ford for me.

I can just see, for my taste at least, that the Ford is leaps and bounds ahead of the GMC. Interior is cleaner and more well thought out. More power sources. Seats aren't ugly. I hate tannish/brown seats. I accept that the F150 is better in EVERY way.
I own a 21 Powerboost Limited and I can say, being a Toy owner still and a Lexus owner still, the Limited is the best of all my vehicles for sailing down the road like it’s a magic red carpet. It’s strong as a beast, pulls hard when you need it to and yet rides smooth as butter too. It’s my best out of 5 vehicles here.
@@jameszeiger8533 I was actually looking into the Toyota Tundra, but there were a few things I couldn't get over. Looks aren't as appealing as the Ford. Also, I hate how they switched temperature controls to a switch instead of a knob. Those little things matter to me. I've also ridden in both the Ford and Toyota and I've got to say that the Ford is like a magic carpet. There was a time where I thought Ford was garbage, but as I get older, I can appreciate the evolution they have displayed and will definitely give them a chance with my next purchase. Thanks for your input because it just further solidifies my decision.
@@jjpark1989 Yes…the Toy Tundra was a consideration for me and I think Toy does an excellent job with their engineering of systems, eg, I am an engineer so I do look at those things. Their new offering looks promising for how they have put things together, but they, like everyone else and including their 5.7, have some issues to work through that I am sure they will over time and it will be a really good truck. I am not a fan of their styling on the new Tundra, at all, but I think it’s going to be a good truck in time when they work through their issues. The PB’s 3.5L motor has been around 13 years and Ford has worked through some issues to where it’s a mature designed motor and early problems have largely been redesigned for a better motor. I certainly like the GMC reviewed here, looks nice, but I am not a fan of GMC’s gas motors because they are plagued with problems related to cylinder deactivation grenading and a couple others. The one rub I see with the reviewed model GMC was I don’t like the tiny real-estate they laid all their heating and HVAC controls on…a very small footprint. I like big knobs and buttons on the heating and cooling as my wife when driving needs to see a big button when grabbing the defrost if needed driving down the road. It just seems like GM kinda scrunched that down to a bunch of tiny buttons clustered tightly together. That said, that PB Limited, which is “spot on” the same as Ford’s highest offering this model year in the Platinum has just all the bases covered and has been for me a beautiful truck for me.
I was always a Chevy guy, but driving Fords & Rams at work, the Ford by far has the best seats! (and head room)
I was always a chevy guy until i drove my uncles ford once. Switched immediately and over time my whole family has bought fords. My dad just bought a new limited. I tell you the interior is just unmatched
Honestly the Ford is just more forward thinking in my opinion. If you think of it in practicality standpoint, the fuel tank on the Ford is 30 gallons and you get about 24 mpg combined. So in real world you might be looking around 700 miles per tank and you can put regular. While the GMC is a smaller 24 gallon tank, with a bigger V8 engine that gives you 16mpg combined and requires premium. So you are getting less range and you are paying more at the pump. I get that this is just one angle of looking at it there are many more things these two trucks have. But after you get over the hype of buying your next truck filling this thing up at the pump is one major area you will start feeling the cost.
Both are good trucks it all boils down to "what floats one's boat",& as for me iv always loved Ford trucks so am for F150!.

More powertrain options on the GM vehicles and for us down south that don’t need 4wd, GM still offers 2wd in the higher level trims. I do like that console work space, back seat floor space with folding storage and that 7kw in the bed for the Ford. Great review, thanks again!
Have had both of these trucks in last 6 years. I am in a 2023 Ford now and will never go back to a GM truck. Problems in GMC were many and bad. Had no problems with my last F150 when traded at 156000 miles.

I don't get the fascination with the 7.2kw inverter? For me, I just need a comfortable truck to get me from point A to point B. I love the Ford, but that generic looking rear tailgate is a deal killer for me. This is an 85K truck with the same tailgate as the cheapest F150
It’s actually a pretty big deal and I’m surprised other trucks manufacturers haven’t followed suit. Want to run a table/miter saw, compressor or welder at a remote site, no problem. Want to power your 5th wheel while camping, no problem. Want to power essentials or half your house during an emergency or power outage, no problem. But if you want to keep lugging around your heavy, loud AF gasoline generator, that’s still an option too 😊

Gmc denali is the god father of luxury trucks. That ford doesn't have a spay on bed liner and it's top trim.

I love the ford but i hate the colors and graphis on their dash screen. I think the darker colors make it feel more premium. But its hard not to love those Ford seats. That diamond stitching and color combo is gorgeous.
That Poweboost isn’t lasting until 100k miles. Get the Ultimate with the Duramax for 4k less. Also how tf is a spray in bed-liner not standard on a 86k dollar truck??!!
The early powerboost electronics were an issue but they have that figured out. The Ford won’t rot away like gm and ram. Ford all the way!

Maybe it’s just me but I were able to afford a near $90k truck I wouldn’t need a bedliner. No mulch or outdoor equipment is going back there, lol. Maybe a dresser or bed frame at best and I’ll throw some cardboard down right quick for that lol
@@bostonaviation2010 that’s pretty rich coming from a gm guy, their frames rust after a year and their rocker panels rot out after 3-4 yrs. That Isuzu engine is a dog compared to the powerstroke. There is a reason gm is behind Ford and Ram for towing!
@@brianbarclay4316 I have a 2017 Sierra and there is no frame rust at all. Also GM with the Duramax has class leading towing capacity. Don’t care where the engine is made. At least it is reliable and will last over 200k miles.
You point out the screen in the trucks, but connect CarPlay to both of them. Then hit the expand button on the ford. The GM screen is only bigger on paper. Who needs another clock taking up 1/4 of the screen on the GM? Ford is a clear win there.
There’s over 4 different things you can have on the right screen. Trailering, google, clock, radio stations. Also google maps will expand to the whole screen. Please know what you’re talking about before you know the facts

You can’t expand CarPlay to the whole screen like you can in the Ford. You glossed right over the point. Since you seem to be sensitive to GM, Toyota has the same problem. I’m not much of a Ram fan, but theirs expands larger than the Fords does. GM is the only 3/4 ton+ truck brand that doesn’t do this. Probably has to do with them trying to get rid of it all together. Read and understand the point before climbing on your horse.

I went to buy a new 1 ton diesel at4x a month ago, having had a Silverado 1500, and been happy with it, that was what I was predisposed to do. The screen wasn’t the only thing I wasn’t happy with for that kind of money, but it wasn’t a bad truck. At that level, you have to get nitpicky and there were just a few more things on the GM I didn’t care for. Probably works great for someone else. So it ended up being a Ford for me this time, but next time, who knows? There’s stupid things with the Ford too, just wasn’t as many for my use case this time around.
If I hadn’t just been shopping them, I probably would have known about the inability to expand CarPlay on GM. But I was, and it’s something a lot of reviewers miss. It’s not nothing. When you’re spending 100k on a truck, the little things matter.
@@x219c so instead you bought a truck with a smaller low res screen with blurry cameras, a CP4, no rear camera mirror, a wandering front end, no auto 4wd, and a truck known to be plagued with issues?? Got it! I prefer the GM screen to be able to have a split screen on the right for other display. And FYI the GM apple car play screen is still wider than the Ford.

They are priced the same as heavy duties pretty much because it’s a vehicle intended for a different purpose. That’s like saying a Lamborghini cost more then a 3500 diesel so might as well buy the 3500 diesel

I love the Denali Ultimate interior in all forms (Yukon and Sierras). It is special and it feels like it.
You have to check the phone zoom while making video. The auto focus blur the videos at many important places. Reat all is fine in the video.
You said the Ford Platinum does not have special suspension, but it does. It has Magna ride stabilizer system which works great.

Thanks for the great review. The gas mileage and the smaller tank combined are a big red flag for me on the GMC. Plus it seemed that in almost every other area for the things that matter to me the F150 was better.
Was wondering if I should go back to gmc after driving 21 platinum powerboost f150. Went and got in ultimate, honestly felt so cheap.. ended up getting a loaded 24 king ranch! Ford is still on top.

The 19+ Sierra's are extremely ugly trucks. The 21+ F150's look simple, but clean. The 19+ Silverado is a way better looking truck than the Sierra with it's god aweful looking wheelwells that absolutely ruins the trucks look.

I think it's just a matter of preference some people like Ford some Chevy and some Gm and some Ram. I think it doesn't matter what other people think as long as your happy with your truck. And for me the GMC SIERRA DENALI ULTIMATE is way better looking than the Ford. But I can also see the Ford having some good areas or strong points as well.

What you don't talk about is the 6.2 V8 motor that has issues for years for the recalls and electronic issues. Own a 2017 Ford F150 Platinum. The Ford is the better vehicle. Just being honest with the V8 engine for the Ford.

*gm* has absolutely NOTHING to worry about. Lol. The Sierra is still the best looking and designed truck and it’s now the only one with a proper V8 and the technology and engineering to make your job(s) easier. This is a 2022 design Sierra competing just fine against brand new 2025 Ford F-150s and RAM trucks that are just now getting technology *gm* has offered since 2022. The redesigned Sierra and Silverado are on the way and it’s not looking good for their competitors and their vanilla refreshes attempting to make them look more sophisticated and mature like the current Sierra. I don’t think Ford has done nearly enough.

Not at all. The V8 has to be spun 5-6K RPM to make peak torque. The Ford does it around 22-2500 RPM. That's not to say the Ford doesn't have its own concerns.
Higher temps, more pressure and more moving parts. All equal a shorter life span with more issues.

The c-lamp headlights and the Lariat and up taillights look 10000% better on the 21-23s in my opinion.

We have a panoramic sun roof on our Yukon AT4… we don’t use it. When I buy a truck I don’t even want the sunroof. I the the GMC front end is way more appealing that the ford. Ford has a lot of torque! But the twin turbo and hybrid set up just sounds like a lot of potential problems down the line. Draw on the transmission. 7000+watt inverter on the Ford is awesome! Multi pro tailgate is my favorite tailgate. All in all I would say it’s close for the average person. Give me the GMC all day though. I don’t need a Butt massager while I drive

You need to put the pipe down, and quit making these BS, random comments. If we're just looking at value the Ford easily wins this. Not only is it a couple grand less, its seats/sunroof/drivetrain are all superior, and/or at minimum things that should add noticeable cost compared to the Denalis offerings in these areas. I do love the multi-pro tailgate, and the Denalis dash is pretty damn shape. I think the 19+ GM trucks have the best beds in the 1/2 ton segment.
The biggest issue with the F150 is no available V8 after Lariat. Ford's being a little racist about what trims they'll put a Coyote in with the new 24 models. It's ashame because the Coyote is the best V8 in the 1/2 ton segment. Coming from a 19 1SS 1LE I was looking to get into a L87/10L80 truck, until I drove one and compared it to a GEN3 5L/10R80 truck.
BTW while thankfully these truck don't come with an unreliable air suspension, don't they have systems like MRC? After having MRC in my old 1LE, I can say it is the bomb, and superior to an air suspension. BS, problematic air suspensions.

I've owned multiple Chebby's and with pick a Chebby over a Furd if I feel I like it better, but the new GM trucks are seriously lacking in the drivetrain department, and have had to do some serious catching up in the interior department. They have some nice innovations in their tailgates and bumper steps, but they're hardly class leading? You feel GMC's ugly trucks are a superior truck name to F150? LMAO. Sure. The Silverado is way better looking than the current Sierra, as is the F150. Coming from a 19 1SS 1LE I was looking to get into a L87/10L80 truck, but the 3.5L EB, and GEN3 5L/10R80 are way better engines, and are more reliable to boot. And please don't point out the issues with the Furd engines as they're nothing compared to the lifter issues associated with the SBC engines with DOD.

That being said Ford is a good brand to but they are more geared towards police cars or working trucks. Listen both these brands are good and been in business for a long time. I think everyone is entitled to choose they're brand and they cars or trucks. I actually think the Ford GT and the Raptor F150 the 5.0 coyote engine are all good products. The 5.4 3 valve though came out defective from variable valve timing on Ford still an ok truck though. The 5.4 2 valve is a better option and more resilient.Now the Chevy Ls 5.3 is also a great engine and their engine is known for being good even a Mechanic will tell you this. At the end of the day like I said its your money and you can spend it how you want to. The Ford Engine in my opinion though has always had head problems something as simple as a spark plug getting stuck in the heads or popping out from the heads is a big engineering mistake and for a truck and consumer to have to pay out of pocket to fix a mistake made by the manufacturer is unexceptable that's why I decided to go with GM /Chevy in opinion they're easier to work on your self and that's why you still see more classics around still then Ford. Now the Ford F100 is a nice truck as well but value wise it isn't up to par or compete with a Chevy classic any day of the week..

What happened to the nice platinum tailgate? That tailgate on the new platinum is exactly the same as an XL model! So cheap looking. Other than that the front end and the interior of the Ford are winners. That horrible boring tailgate would be enough for me not to buy the Ford.

There is no more limited as of 2024. They incorporated legacy Limited accoutrements as part of the platinum trim when the top line 703 package is selected.

IMO Ford doesn't do enough to differentiate its higher trims on the exterior from the lower levels. Even this Platinum looks just like another F-150. GMC does a much better job.
Got a gmc...hands down better interior. The infotainment is angled towards you so you don't have to reach forward and i have a ford for work and dealership put me in a loaner ford...i hate the infotainment. The loaner seats hurt my but and didn't come with lumbar support or massage seats. My ultimate looks, drive, is amazing.
Side note that work space is stupid. I worked with laptop Mount for years and. I got w cheap steering wheel laptop mount...no more sore neck and back...im never going back to anything but a steering wheel mount.

They never had it. Ram Limited and now Ram Tungsten is the luxury king.
GM interior has a superior layout. My biggest gripes with GM are they're seats are subpar compared to competitors. They won't offer more ring & pinion options. Let the customers choose. And they refuse to compete in the HP dept. They have the capability, but just won't give customers what they want. Love the 6.2, but it falls far short of competitors options.
The Ford already had a console shifter and GM just moved the shifter from the column to the console. That said, the layout looks the same.
Gm also requires lifters every 20k and cam every 30k 😂I’m done with the bs flex fuel tearing up the motors had 3 I bought new all 3 had major engine problems and 18 had trans and lifters go out lifters twice

Ford designed the 10 speed, GM designed the FWD transmissions. Thats how they partnered on transmissions.

@jayc4715 ford sunroofs break a lot and there made of plastic parts in track its such a bad design I fixed mine took me about 8 hours but saved me from paying for 2,200 dollars. Les is more I don't want 13 cameras that break or turbos my next truck will be something straight forward and simple hard finding but I will the ford's are great if you get a xlt .

@@jayc4715 it's just the updates that are causing problems I have a ecoboost 3.5 2014 I got it with o miles I have 130 thousand now and she is in amazing condition from paint to engine I still love that truck 150 and full size broncos and the dark horse and 450 are pretty tough .
