    Take a classic vintage overdrive and deck it out with a myriad of options that are all highly useful to any guitarist. This is what Kirk Hammett, David Karon and engineer Antonin Salva have come up with and the results are great. You can use the KHDK Ghoul Screamer as a clean boost, midrange boost or overdrive, full-range boost or overdrive, all with three distinctly different levels of compression/clipping. There's not a bad sound to be had among the countless permutations and it works beautifully with any guitar and any amp. Such is the versatility of the Ghoul Screamer.
    This video deals only with the Ghoul Screamer into a Vibrolux Reverb with a 60's style Tele pickups in front of it. For a JTM45/HB demo please visit (coming soo) and for a Charvel-into-driven-amp (Laney L50H) demo please visit (coming soon) .

    Thanks for this wonderful demo. After watching several review of this pedal and all play metal, I get bored. So, watching your review convinces me that this pedal is really versatile.

    As always - an excellent demo. The switch options look very interesting.

    Thanks for that demo/review +Brett Kingman..There's been an utter barrage of negativity and Internerdity toward the 'KHDK' brand, partly due to the rockstar endorsement, and some fair-enough comments he made and the 'pedal community/industry' that just made me curious to actually 'hear' what the device sounds like. A few weeks ago some German guitar-nerd/fanger gave the whole KHDK series a good rundown, but objective reviews have been far and few. It sounds pretty good from my end of the keyboard, and the configurability look fantastic, although I could'nt hear the bass switch do anything. Cheers!

      +Yuval Legendtofski I think the EQ for the bass doesn't effect a tele very much as the tele has a 'tight' sound. I remember experiencing some of this with one of my Tele's too but it could also be a polite change??
      I didnt realise what this pedal was until I went and looked it up online and I remembered that KH realsed some pedal and I remember scoffing at the time, NOW I SHALL EAT MY SCOFF!

    Wow, that's a great screamer. base tone is fantastic and that eq is so useful. more pedals should have those eq dip switches.
    hey burgs, remember those farndurk pedals you used to have, they were cool.

    • @BrettKingman
      @BrettKingman  Před 8 lety

      +Brian Cullen Yeah, they were cool. But a whole mess of shit went down about those. Do Gear Page search for Farndurk and all will be revealed.

      +Brett Kingman Wow! I just did some reading, thank goodness for the democratic internet hey? Its so sad when you see people fall from grace like that. I shan't talk about it here too much so as not to taint this wonderful pedal above, but dang, thats some dissapointing reading. I could never afford the farndurk stuff, no wonder some people were jacked off about it.

    this pedal was engineered by Anthonin Salva From Salvation Mods in Czech Republic. Salvation Mods had a long history of great work designing circuits for use in the Egnater and Randall MTS systems. his preamps for these systems are stellar and used worldwide. The Metallica guy, I'm quite sure, had little to do with the circuit of this pedal beyond explaining what tweaks he felt were needed. Antonin is the brains behind the pedal and is a ,musician, a small business owner and completely knows what he's doing. don't let the Metallica guy get you down.

      Since the pedal market is extremely over saturated they needed a "big name" branded on the pedal in order to make the company stand out & noticed. You are correct, Mr Salva does stellar work and I hope this venture works out for the best, he deserves it.

    • @-thirteen
      @-thirteen Před 8 lety

      +Bo88y Beretta basically my entire amp is Salvation Mods. 6 of his preamps and they are amazing. best tone I've ever had.

    Good review Brett. Hard to get the bass & treble switches to sound obvious coming through the YT compression in upload.

  • @AlVixan

    Great demo as usual! Which are your other two favorite TS pedals you mention? Rock on!

    • @BrettKingman
      @BrettKingman  Před 8 lety +1

      +AlVixan I'd put Wampler's Paisley Drive and EarthQuaker Devices' Palisades up there. Both have plenty of options and variations on the TS circuit as well the classic sound itself. The EQD pedal is large but seriously appointed while the Wampler pedal has a smaller footprint with great clipping and tone shaping options. I think that the Ghoul Screamer has managed to take the best from those two, and others, and package into a simpler and great sounding interface, which is a big plus.

    • @AlVixan
      @AlVixan Před 8 lety

      +Brett Kingman thanks a lot man! What do you think of the Keeley Red Dirt (mini or standard size)? I was considering to buy it because of the mini size...

  • @BV_Beve
    @BV_Beve Před 8 lety

    Seems like a good and interesting pedal with a very useful range in it. Shame that the 'name' and endorsement (though realize smaller businesses need endorsements) may well end up with the pedal appealing to only one part of the music world.

  • @shckltnebay
    @shckltnebay Před 8 lety +1

    This or a Keeley Oxblood?

    • @BrettKingman
      @BrettKingman  Před 8 lety +2

      +Eric sin sinner Much different to each other in my opinion. The Oxblood is a richer sounding overdrive with Klon tones (I know they're all overdrives, but still...) I don't think one could totally emulate the other. You'll need both. :D

    • @shckltnebay
      @shckltnebay Před 8 lety

      ***** Thanks Im getting the Oxblood and have The Elements which rocks, also on the board Lovepedal Vibronaut, 30ms, nemesis, three stereo neunabers w/exp controller and a MXR stereo trem

    Is this pedal made by someone who actually plays guitar? If so, then it's the first of its kind!
