Four years later: this is still a useful video. I have this old Dell model and want to put Windows 10 on it, and keep it as a backup computer. I have not been able to find out if the cpu would even run windows 10. I have learned now that ''not supported for windows 10" just means no more drivers or customer assistance will be available for 10, but that doesn't mean it won't run the OS. Many thanks.

I acquired this computer with Win10Pro installed. Upon shutdown of Windows, it does NOT power off. It requires a 6 sec depression of the power button to shut off the fans and power. After reading some of the many forum discussions on this problem, I gather that it is due to the newer GPT formatting instead of the traditional MBR wich users report provides proper and full shutdown. I upgraded the BIOS to the latest on the Dell site, A17, but the shut off problem still exists. Legacy boot fails because it is not supported in GPT. Apparently the solution is to convert the GPT back to MBR and use Legacy boot. Users report this older format works better all around on this older computer. Dell states that they support this computer only through Win7 and not Win10.

Ah your ram is at 3gb is it would run a bit slower! Normally a computer would work better with 4-8gbs of ram.

I have this laptop with Windows 7 on it but don’t have the activation key so it keeps giving me issues, also it’s very slow. Going to buy Windows 10 and install it after watching this. I was told Windows 10 wasn’t possible on a E6410 before.
