- Today, we travel up the Potomac River in my jetboat and fish for smallmouth bass just below Harpers Ferry, WV. The smallies were biting and I caught plenty on this short trip.
As always this is a how to metal detecting outdoor adventure vlog that is family friendly and hopefully a fun video.

Another ride in the boat. I wish I could explain how relaxing/hypnotic it is for me. Stopping to watch you fish is a bonus. You mentioned that you "hate to lose tackle", reminding me of all the videos where you are finding enough to open a small retail outlet. But mainly, it looked like you were having a nice day before your temps get to 100°f. Thanks as always for sharing.
I remember a guy took me to a creek in the late 70's that you could step across in some places introducing me to smallmouth...I laughed walking back to his "special spot"i was thinking noway this creek had any fish of size...boy was i wrong,amazed and hooked (no pun intended)on smallies from that day on...he used crawfish and a hook only...he had caught a 4lber from that same hole previously...they are fighters he said from fighting the current...

I used to catch smallies up around Blackford's Ford below Shepherdstown back in the early 70's and the river still looks good for fishing down at the Ferry. NH smallies I find are usually in a small pond but absolutely quiet. Nice day, good fishing. ✌👌

That little boat is so cool! I used to tournament bass fish and the jet boat guys always had an advantage. I could totally see myself rocking that thing with a trolling motor!

I’m also a catch and release kind of guy myself, surf fishing here on the coast of South Florida. People always joke with me saying yeah I release my fish, into a pan with hot oil. But I don’t need to eat them, so I release them. I just enjoy the fun of catching them. 👍

I’d once again like to invite you to fish/MD the Tye river with me in Central VA. Very minor civil war artifact chance but it was the site of a catastrophic flood due to Hurricane Camille which destroyed several communities along the valley. Also, monster smallies. Lots of healthy, brawny fish.

Cool trip. Back in the day, I used to walk out on the Menominee river when the water was low. Lots of Walleyes and dead crayfish from the racoons. its all fenced in now.

I love fishing for small mouth bass, got home this morning from a 2 day trip fishing and was in the water about 22 hours in 2 days it was fun but I am wore out

A metastudy in 2005 found that the average catch and release mortality rate was 18%. More recent studies reported in Montana estimate that approximately 20% of released trout die from injuries or stress and for those that do not die, their injuries may significantly reduce their ability to feed and grow.
I have learned that two small bass filleted and fried in small chunks makes enough fish tacos to feed a family of four
@Mountainmonths It it the law that you have to release all smallmouth that don't meet the size limit. I The only real choice is not to fish at all.

Yeah Bass is trophy fish, it's not the kind of fish you keep and take home to eat.

There are size limits here. You can't keep most of them by law.
