The P1 is a modern classic! I love the design of this beast irl. This looks like it translates well
looks good but the headlights are very, very questionable imo
Ruins it for me considering it's one of it's most iconic design elements.
curious why so? the headlights look great to me
The front it’s weird, it’s seems more like a corvette c8
The headlights seem to be from 570s rather than from P1
@@LegoSini That was literally my first thought lol
P1 is in my opinion the best of the holy trinity and the best mclaren after the F1. I think it makes sense to do the P1 over the F1. Hopefully we get a mclaren F1 creator set in the future (like the countach or 911)!
For years, when I think of Mclaren, I think of the P1. It's a modern classic. That price, though.. ouch.
The concrete bit was GOLD Jang! Right up there with the OG bat-copter!
P1 hasn’t aged a day since it released back in 2013. Still my dream car ! Will be getting this model!
The p1 definitely isn’t as iconic as the F1, F40, or a Veyron.
But a Diablo would be something that Lego could pull off I believe, it has easier roof lines they seem to struggle with.
Having recently delved into the design language of modern McLaren cars for a university project, I can definitely see why they picked the P1, even though it's a decade old at this point. It has all of the modern design sensibilities and design cues rolled into one car: the curved leading front edge, the swoosh-logo inspired head and tail lights, the organic-looking overall shaping inspired by musculature with the characteristic side vents, and it comes in the classic papaya-orange and black color scheme.
I have to say though, while I normally don't care too much about the blue pins and this set has less of them that are visible, I despise the blue pins near the front wheel.
F1 would have been more interesting and iconic with it's three seats.
I'm pretty sure I will never disagree with anything McLaren F1. Take my upvote.
I see the F1 ending up in the Icons range at one point. Would be great.
@@nickofzo I'm really hoping for it. Hopefully with specialized windshield.
Don't care about Technic. I'm just here to watch Jang make fun of the lifestyle photos
real ones know
Hey Jang, dunno if u read the comments anymore but I've come across ur channel after years and it's great to see you still around! I watched ur videos growing up and u were a reason I got into LEGO in the first place. Still remember your Hero Factory reviews, gosh those were the days
Keep up the good work :)
The P1 is a great choice for a technic super car imo. It is beautiful, brutal, and technologically ahead of its time with a hybrid system and astoundingly active aero. The fact they captured so much of the design in technic is very impressive to me.
+ It’s just a great car and will go down as one of (if not THE) best super cars of its decade.
Aggghhhh that price 😭😭😭
They all cost this much
@@reallifedoor4536 init
I like how the P1 looks, I think they wanted to show off how well curves can be done in technic with this set.
The F1 and the P1 are easily McLaren’s most iconic vehicles
People still care about the P1 10+ years later
I personally wish LEGO and McLaren went with the Senna, one of the best looking cars from McLaren imo
I was praying for the senna and was gonna immediately buy it if it was the Senna. Now I'm not really considering getting the set anymore.
Concrete walls, concrete tables, next it’ll be concrete Lego sets!
Love a bunker great preview jang 👍
Funnily enough, recently my friend asked me what's my favourite car design in more modern times and my answer was the P1.
I love the P1. Iconic and still the best looking McLaren!
I really hate the idea of the knob thing at 2:15 which can be found in many other Lego sets too. And at 3:05, it really look ugly when it sticks out like that.
I do have a fondness of the P1 mainly cos it was in the Starboy music video haha
Why wouldn't people care about the P1 anymore? it was a legend in its own era, a followup to arguably the best hypercar ever made from McLaren. And still the best looking McLaren they've ever made.
the P1 is rather iconic so i think it makes sense to choose it over some of the newer ones, and the colour/design is very striking
I've been waiting for this car for forever, it's my favorite supercar, and will probably be the only technic supercar I get!
Lego obviously already has a relationship with McLaren, and that P1/F1 are one of the greatest Hyper cars ever created. It's a tough design to translate to Lego, that's for sure.
There shuld be a JangDecor channel just for the sake of roasting weird interiors by Jang.
It looks really, really well put together compared to say, the Bugatti or the Porcche. I understand they've added dozens of new parts since then, but I'd say they're heading in the right direction.
First one of these I'm remotely interested in. Looks great and the engine is visible!
I do hope it has some other features besides moving engine and opening doors.
Personally I’m really happy they chose the p1. The p1 or 765lt would be my first choices. I was worried when I heard that they were doing mclaren for the 1:8 because the Artura isn’t as good looking of a car.
P1 is a great choice by Lego!! This set is going to be absolute fire!
Jangbricks loves concrete decor. Hahaha
They definitely could've done the Speedtail, but the P1 is easily McLaren's most iconic (modern) car.
Not that it entirely matters as it’s probably coincidence but I think it’s funny that both the countach and p1 have relatively well known mocs in the same respective scale. BrunoJ 1:8 p1 and firas creator scale countach.
Odd choice of car I think the f1 or speed tail would have been a much better choice. And honestly the f1 would be cool as we haven’t gotten any older cars in the series. I’d love to see a 1:8 scale gt40 or Porsche 917.
New P1 successor coming later this year. So makes sense to hype it up by rehashing the icon
I was surprised by the choice of car as well, that it's based on a car from over ten years ago that came out in 2013, and not an upcoming or current in-production car like the last four sets were.
This one I'll need to see reviews for, as what will make or break it for me to go for it is actually the build itself. Price is a non issue as it'll be drastically discounted later on but almost half, like the Ferrari Daytona SP3 did in the UK. But I still skipped the Ferrari set on purpose despite the hefty discount as I learned the majority of the chassis and framework was mostly the same as the 2020 Lamborghini Sián with slight changes (then again both those sets were designed by the same person).
So it made very little sense to spend a lot again and build a fraction of the set mostly the same way again. I'll wait and see though.
It's a really nice detailed Super car for the ongoing large scale line up, but personally I'll be saving up for the G Wagon later this year instead.
idk abt the front thou, seems kinda off
Looks like corvette C8 with less agressive bumper
The Front Seems A Little Bit High Up, In My Opinion
The P1 is my favourite McLaren, and in my opinion one of the best looking cars of all time. Considering its age though I never would have seen this coming. Nonetheless I’m really excited for it, but there’s definitely a few bits that could’ve been done better (the headlights are a bit off). And to answer your question yes people definitely do still care about the P1! I think it’s sort of reached this iconic holy grail status for a lot of supercar fans.
ignore the headlights & this thing looks like a Mazda RX7 Veilside lol
I don’t think the headlights are the worst part, the whole front bumper and bonnet looks a little too short and tall. It’s a tricky shape to replicate in Lego, seen some Mocs that seem to get the front pretty spot on, It’s close but no cigar. The shaping of the rest of the car is phenomenal tho, will definitely pick this up and tinker with the front a bit.
Yeah the headlights look slightly janky but honestly they nailed pretty much everything else so well, that it really doesn’t hurt the look too much for me
P1 is my all-time favorite McLaren, but I agree, it's an odd choice. I think the McLaren Senna or Speedtail would have made more sense both in terms of relevancy and Technic aesthetic
If this ends up like the Sian and the Daytona, we should be able to pick it up for around 30% off eventually, which makes the price tag a lot more palatable.
Youch!! That price is way up there! But I love the P1 still to this day, a die-cast model will work better for me I think.
I agree on the choice of car being a bit strange. The P1 to me is currently in a void, too old to be relevant on the super/hyper-car scene anymore, but still not old enough to have that second coming and classic status. It's not an uninteresting car, but things have moved so quickly the last decade so even being part of the famed trinity means little today. Weird. I love the color though, I was sure it would be yellow because looking at the collection as a whole that fits perfectly. The flame yellow is even more popping, and to me absolutely more yellow than orange. I love cars but I don't have any of the 1:8 scale ones. I might get this one. But only maybe, and not unless it's on a very descent discount. You could have a lot of other fun for that cash.
Exactly, exactly! Fantastic car that had a brief moment before being buried by competition, including from its own brand, with an older model eating its lunch on the nostalgia scale. The F50 of McLarens.
It was my dream for Lego to do a mclaren p1 lego technic I am extreeeeemlly happy they have finally done it. Took long enough. My next hope is a pegani zonda r
tbh i like it
I just overall am a big fan of the car and I’m happy It’s in Lego. Wish I could afford it though.
That price broooo AHHHHHH!!!!!!!! When I saw this car I was like gareentied christmas gift for my brother🎉🎉... the price....😢
It would have been strange if it was anything other than a P1, (I would have loved a Speedtail but ot was obvious it was going to he a P1 and i don't blame them one bit).
yEs the F1 is loved by many but the P1 is just as recognisable if not even more mainstream, you instantly know what it is, the iconic silhouette/curvature, its crescent headlights and astonishing rear.
SO HAPPY IT'S A DIFFERENT ORANGE THAN THE PORSCHE, that was one of my main concerns.
Had been more interesting if it was the McLaren F1, that is way more icon for the old farts like me who can afford the set :P
Imo this looks fantastic, and incredibly similar to the P1 in every way except the headlights, which look a bit 570s, and it kinda throws me off.
Corvette c8
It’s cool and all, though I feel as though the 720 or speed tail would fit in better
Front is too short and high imo. A shame because from other angles it looks good but the main view people will display it at is ruined.
I wonder whose idea it was to put the spoiler gear in the rear. It was great on the Bugatti when the mechanism was hidden. This makes it seem more like a toy (hand of god steering anyone?) rather than a premium product.
The headlights almost look more like a 570S to me
It was the main designers FIRST big set, and I think that was mistake number 3
What they did right with the SP3, they missed the mark with the (front of) the P1, its just not the same shapes
I hope someone makes an UCS Keetongu alternate build!!
front end looks like a mix between the 570s and the new c8
You're right about the McLaren. This is kind of an "outdated" choice.
Without knowing the original - it does not look too bad? I like the burnt yellow.
it looks more like a 720s in the front than a P1
"Does anyone care about the P1 anymore?" YES!!! The P1 is one of the sexiest super cars of all time.
lego should at least get some koenigseggs in their collection
The headlight looks a bit off, the mclaren logo shape light is a bit lost and a bit gappy. But still a good one and I'm gonna buy it because it's a P1.
I have a concrete table and it's amazing
I’m gonna modify the front lights when build it, they’re not accurate enough
Have you seen the new IMSA Audi 100 from Mega Constructs?
the headlights are just wrong, looks more like a mclaren gt or a 720 rather than a p1
to me it looks like the colour orange from the 42099 4x4 off roader 🙂
Window frames on the doors look way too awkward. Looks like Beetle.
Those headlights look nothing like the source material to me
Great Offcourse I gonna buy it
Do people care about the P1 ??? Mate it's part of the Holy trinity of cars (P1, La Ferrari and Porsche 918) ... Ofc we do
It's a little odd they chose an older car, recon they should have gone with either a more modern car or something truly classic like the F1
P1 is perfect for me- I was desperately hoping this would be the model they focused on..... its the best Maclaren there is - i JUST SLIGHTLY PREFER IT over the F1 but ita super close.... can't wait for this one 😍
Finally a new side-mirror design?
Cmon the front is quite weird, the headlights sucks, it seems like a corvette
I still think for $450 and that number of pieces, the wheels had better by made by McLaren themselves out of metal. Otherwise, neat set, just doesn't have the same "wow" factor as the Ferrari IMO for whatever reason.
i've been waiting for a new lego P1 for a long time, i love that car. this just doesn't quite look right though, and way too expensive. i really want them to do an eight wide speed champions P1 in black. the six wide one is rough..
Take my wallet i need this day one!!!!great add to my collection.
Idk man the P1 is still an amazing car! Probably the most iconic McLaren for me.
I feel like the grill intake is way too high…
This is the Angry Birds of the Technic line, IMO - by the time TLG released the Angry Birds set, the mobile game had all but been forgotten [but they made a movie, so I guess that's why TLG did it...but the movie was years late the market too!]
The size of these sets is just massive. I don't have any of them, but whenever I see them next to a person, I am just stunned at how big they are!
Im in for 10 of them
I think the new hypercar should have been the AMG Project One but (sadly?) Cada already took that license. They turned it into a beautiful set though! Was kind of hoping the Jesko would have been the new supercar instead. I feel the P1 is a bit too old.
Most licenses aren't exclusive. LEGO did an AMG One in Speed Champions form a few years ago. CaDa has a 1/10 P1 presently.
Would love a lego ford gt 40 in this scale.
The price is actually in space!
Strange choice from Lego to do this car...not for me...
Everything is chrome in the future, and everything is concrete in the bunker
Lego itself values it at $292.50 apparently (Insider points)
It's ok if your home is concrete if you're living with a Nicole Kidman clone 😁
It looks like a Hennessy Venom F5
Choosing the McLaren P1, does it mean there might be future releases of LaFerrari and Porsche 918 Spyder?
I love the P1, but I don't think this one does it for me. The roof looks too tall, and the front looks off. The orange pieces at the sides of the front bumper are too angular, they should be more curved
Weird choice, considering it's a decade old car.
Even if we only look at mclaren, the 750s would have made a lot more sense as it's still in production.
Agreed. Less than a year old, the 750 is. The P1 was a "halo" car in its day... but I don't get that feeling anymore. It wasn't timeless, thus isn't a good subject to revisit for a high-end homage.
@@JANGBRiCKS It fall between two chairs, it's not as Iconic as F1 and F40/50/Enzo was back in the days for us adults of today. And for the kids where this was their dream car they are still in denial of their Lego building wishes :P
@@JANGBRiCKS the p1 still is like a halo car, not on f1 level but it’s a part of the hyper car holy trinity and still widely popular amongst the super car community
@@K3b1bisLtu I'd obviously say that the 750s would have been better, but it doesn't really matter as this costs like 1000000x more than I can afford so yeah
@@JANGBRiCKSI sorta disagree Jang, I think it is timeless. It’s such a gorgeous design and despite making some awesome cars in the decade since it released I feel that McLaren still hasn’t come close to the magic they achieved with this car.
