    Today I've got some exciting news... I'm working on a new silicone tail! I'm so excited for this one. It's going to use different techniques than my first one and the color pallet, scale shape and general feel of the tail will be pretty much an opposite to my first tail.

    Can you show us how you mix the paint and the silicone and also how you attach the scales to the fabric? I would really like to make my own tail like this☺️

    Can you make a video on mixing the colors with the aquarium silicone? Does the aquarium silicone have bad fumes like regular silicone? Where can I get aquarium silicone?

      Hi, I definitely will in the future. Yeah I would still recommend to wear a mask and do it in a ventilated area just to be safe. You can get it online or in a hardware store :)

    Im confused on your 1st to 4th tutorial on the scales to make your mermaid tail. When you did your first tutorial your scaled were glued to two cardboard boards. Then in your fourth one..what'd you do to make it that blue color? what mold did you make that you didn't record? I was confused on that.

    • @Passionfruitdiy
      @Passionfruitdiy  Před 4 lety +1

      I'd say the thinner one so it doesn't get too bulky 🤔 I personally used a 4way stretch scuba type spandex fabric 🙃

      Hi! I'm using aquarium safe silicone in clear. You can use a little bit of acrylic paint to help it cure faster and not get stuck in the moulds and mica powders for cool pearlescent effects. There's more videos about making this tail if you want more info too. That's a lovely idea, I hope it goes well! :)

    • @Passionfruitdiy
      @Passionfruitdiy  Před 5 lety

      Hi Elena, I used dragon skin for my previous tail but in this video I'm working with aquarium safe silicone as this is going to be a hybrid tail with a fabric base. But this method will work with dragon skin as well :)

    • @elenaaldi3118
      @elenaaldi3118 Před 5 lety

      But is aquarium silicone a normal silicone ( like for sealing things)?

    • @Passionfruitdiy
      @Passionfruitdiy  Před 5 lety

      @@elenaaldi3118 pretty much but it's safe for underwater animals so safer for you as well than regular all purpose silicone (still with a fabric base, don't recommend using it directly on skin). It's also less stretchy and durable than dragonskin so the tail has to be your exact measurements.

    • @sapphiretigress1
      @sapphiretigress1 Před 4 lety

      @@elenaaldi3118 i know this is old but for anyone still wondering, there are different types of silicone, aquarium silicone is fish safe because it doesnt have the extra mold killers and chemicals of say, caulking silicone. Hope that helps anyone with this common question :)

      All purpose silicone in clear. Just to highlight this is not a skin safe silicone so I have a fabric base in my tail and I do not use it in the wild 🤗 this method will work with dragon skin silicone by smooth on as well or if you want something in between these two you can use a clear aquarium safe silicone 😊

    Hi! I’ve tried multiple times and it keeps not working. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong. I’m using Amazing Clear Cast (casting resin) to coat my molds. And some all purpose silicone from Home Depot. Yet it keeps sticking to my mold and not curing fully, even after 24 hours

    • @Passionfruitdiy
