  • It's no secret that a high-powered, twin-turbo straight-six producing immense power from early within the rev range can be a handful to drive. The F8X M cars can definitely suffer from a lot of traction issues if not set up correctly. This is exceptionally apparent if your car is tuned or running increased power over the factory levels. In today's video, I break down 5 relatively simple ways you can improve your car's ability to put the power to the ground and make the overall driving experience that much better. If you enjoyed today's video, please make sure to leave a thumbs up and subscribe for more awesome content!

People that suffer from traction issues tend to have problems controlling the torque depending on loading conditions. Simply put: skill issue. When it comes to turbo torque, it's all about the timing in which that torque is applied and how the tires are loaded up. It seems like the majority of people that have issues with these cars are being driven by the car rather than driving it. Instead of approaching the car differently and patiently learning the chassis, they just drive it like they would any other vehicle and it's punishing. The car has everything it needs to fast and those that feel like they need more power on the track are most likely not taking full advantage of the chassis dynamics first.

Video idea : "Best boost by gear settings" going through all 7 gears and what percentages each one should be set at for a proper track use application
I feel like know has really made a proper video on this yet, just food for thought 🤷‍♂
    Super good video btw

Great video but in my opinion missed one key factor regarding tire temps - they need to be adequately warmed up. I’m putting down 500+ on my F80, running PS4s. After 30 minute of driving in the summer (before giving car the sauce) I have absolutely ZERO traction issues. I put down every ft/lb or torque with zero wheel spin. In the winter, I rock Michelin PS Alpin 5s, and at 40 and below, put down every bit of power with no wheelspin. And to top it off I’m running the factory 275 rear wheel width. People think this is a car you can just pull out of the garage and mash the throttle and it’ll be glued to the ground.

What about just switching to H&R lowering springs?

FYI, get the * marked bmw oem Michelin PS4S tires
They were faster on track than regular ones and comparable to R888/Cup 2 (at least for a few laps) and offer superior wet performance and noise levels for street.

In addition to coilovers, I’d go with suspension arms like from SPL Parts. I added some SPL suspension parts with my coilovers, and I felt my M2 was much more planted and less twitchy when accelerating.
Though good point on the differential bushings and plate. I gotta get the Turner diff plate and poly bushings when my M2’s rear diff bushings wear out.

definitely agree with you there, i cant wait to get spl arms in the future for my f82!

Look up the Assist M4 touge battles, aftermarket lsd made it a beast

I'd love to know how much was due to the mechanical LSD, vs the rest of the setup (that has clearly been fine tuned over a long period of time!)

@@bonestorm007 I've tried to find all the videos they featured the assist m4 and you're definitely right, they tried lots of suspension, bushings, and diff combinations. Definitely would try to replicate there current and past winning setups and experiment what works and where

I know the M cars have them from the factory, but if you don't have one, a limited slip differential is a great way to improve traction.

Get Michelin pilot sports. I've got those and some pilot sport 4s for shitt weather. I've also got wheel stds so switching takes 5 minutes max.
