In this video we take a walk along the seafront starting at prospect terrace above Jacobs Ladder which overlooks the magnificent yachts in Ramsgate Marina.
We then head down to Royal Parade and through the streets of this famous seaside town and along Harbour Parade and down to The Royal Victoria Pavilion on the seafront.
Making our way onto Ramsgate Main Sands (Ramsgate Beach) we head up past all the shops, bars, cafe's and restaurants and up onto Madeira Walk and Wellington Crescent where we can see the East Cliff Lift and look out to sea over the rooftops of Ramsgate England.
The Ramsgate Seafront looks fantastic in the sunshine, with the reflections shimmering on the sea, and the seagulls crying and squawking!
Ramsgate is a seaside town in the district of Thanet in east Kent, England. It was one of the great English seaside towns of the 19th century.
Ramsgate's main attraction is its coastline, particularly Ramsgate Main Sands the main beach here.
Ramsgate town has a small population of feral rose-ringed parakeets. The story about them appearing in Ramsgate still remains a mystery. According to some sources they may have flown away from the trading ships coming from British India in 1800s!
Here at the very edge of the Garden of England, three Georgian and Victorian resorts, each with its own distinctive character - Margate, Broadstairs and Ramsgate - cluster around the bays at the far end of the peninsula. There’s a retro feel to these harbour towns, miles of low chalk cliffs edge the peninsula, sheltering a string of secluded, unspoilt sandy bays. For the ultimate experience, you can cycle or hike on the Viking Coastal Trail, along a stunning shoreline and through tranquil lanes.
South-facing Ramsgate is proud of its status as England's only Royal Harbour and boasts its own Meridian Line. Five minutes and 41 seconds ahead of GMT, you'll find it in the Maritime Museum, along with artefacts evoking the town's rich heritage of fishing, shipbuilding and shipwrecks. For something a bit different head to The Micro Museum, to find out about the history and ideas that led to the invention of the home computer. Take a tour underground at Ramsgate Tunnels a unique civilian wartime tunnel complex.
Visit Ramsgate with its stunning Royal Harbour, unique in England. With a lively shopping area and regular traditional market, the town is excellent for food and eating, with little cafes, friendly pubs, excellent varied restaurants and a ‘café culture’ at the harbour-side - the perfect place for a relaxing time.
People have been escaping to the Isle of Thanet for more than 200 years, for the laidback seaside vibe, the breathtaking sandy beaches and fresh sea air

Ich war Anfang der 80er Jahre bei einer Gastfamilie in Ramsgate, um mein Schulenglisch aufzubessern. Wir hatten eine schöne Zeit. Gerne würde ich Ramsgate noch einmal besuchen.

Love ramsgate changed so much first went there as a baby 1956. Used go on holiday there up until 1969 great out door pool and funfair sadly all gone
Went to Ramsgate yesterday, always enjoy a visit love the Victoria pavilion (Wetherspoon's), having a meal and a drink sitting outside by the sea.
Went here on Holiday with mum and dad in the 60s. They used to offload the VW Beetle cars as I remember.

I'm 75 now but we had family holidays here every year from when I was 5 to 15. We stayed with an Auntie in Crescent Road (not really an Auntie she was the lady who shared my parents bomb shelter during the war). Video bought back lots of happy memories especially the fish & chips at the end of the pier. - Thank you.
I've been coming down to Ramsgate since I was a baby as we had family down there. I used to bring my family when they were younger and my Mim after we lost Dad but she passed away in February 2020 at 90 so didn't get last year. It was sad. I was coming but ended up in hospital. So looking forward to coming this year. Its a favourite place and Mum still has two cousins there I should visit. I loved your walk around. Lovely. Thank you. :) .

Same! My family loved here when I was 1! Ramsgate-raised! Now I’m in Herefordshire and the places just don’t compare! If there was scope for work/income, I think I’d move back in a heartbeat!

I'm now 67 and live in Brixham. Went to Ramsgate with my parents from the West Midlands from 1956 till 1969. Going to a wedding next year in Kent, so going to stop in Ramsgate.
Spent my school years in Ramsgate, it looks so much nicer now even though half the sea front has been closed off. There used to be a huge open air pool at the end where I wasted far too much of my Summers. Also there is was a very long promenade along the West beach, well there used to be! Was a lovely walk with quite a large model village, at the time it seemed large anyway. Thank you for showing this.

One place abroad you will love and that's Lindos in Rhodes. It is so unique.

I forgot to mention Lindos also has the Acropolis the only one outside Greece. But you have to be fit to go up and see it. In Lindos Donkeys are taxis we felt for the poor things so we never used them.

Lol, I feel the same way about Yorkshire.
We loved Ramsgate when we visited there. In fact if it didn’t take so long to close a deal we had planned on buying a base flat there, always been a dream of mine. We have friends in Kent and it’s not that far from London.
We are heading back to the UK in August for about a month, we will be visiting a couple estate agents, who knows if we find the right place we just might have to extend our stay??

I used to live there
I visited Ramsgate when I lived in London in 1989. It has changed so what. I went a visited the WW2 Thames River Tug "Cervia" and I see it is still there.👍🇳🇿
