Whitby Seafront, Harbour & Town Tour 2021
Vložit
- čas přidán 30. 06. 2021
- Join me in Whitby for a FULL tour across the Town, We start at the Harbour and walk out towards the piers, Head out to sea on a mini boat tour to see what Whitby looks like from the water, We check out the famous captain cook statue and of course the 1999 steps, Whitby abbey and the Church of St Mary.
Famous for its connections to Bram Stoker’s Dracula, Whitby has always embraced its association with Gothic culture which is reflected in the town’s quirky streets, shops and Abbey ruins, and of course the annual celebration of the culture - The Whitby Goth Weekend. When you visit you can explore ornate cobbled paths, locally-owned shops and quirky cafes that give Whitby it's intriguing yet welcoming atmosphere, making it a great place to visit. Being by the sea you’ll also get to enjoy classic seaside fun and food with locally caught crab & lobster as well as sandcastle building and walks along the pier!
Whitby is also a place for explorers, with connection to the famous voyager Captain James Cook. The great man is immortalised in a monument up on West Cliff, where he can be seen looking out to his favourite place - the sea. You can also learn more about his life and journeys in Whitby at the Captain Cook Memorial Museum.

Hi Tim and family, I hope all is well, me and the wife have been to whitby and were great! especially the Mag pie cafe delicious! I'm so glad we watched you to enspire us for our holiday. Thank you 😊 Barrie & Angie X
I've just watched Storm Ciaran in Whitby..omg...doesn't look like the same place ! Ty for sharing 🎉 PS Whitby Scampi..yummy
My mum comes from Whitby. The “seats” you refer to on the 199 steps were actually used to rest the coffins on many years ago on their final Journey up to St Mary’s . My great grandad used to be one of the regular bearers . Great video thank you
you are welcome
Love, love, love Whitby. So quaint and so much to see. The views are fabulous. We try to get there everytime we come to the UK. Your video was lovely...almost as good as being there.
Means alot thanks Raylee
Great video Tim, beautifully done, thank you. Whitby is just lovely and visited there numerous times over the years. Love the narrow cobbled streets and quaint shops, just adds to the ambience of such a historic seaside town.
It's so lovely and so much history
Bram Stoker the author of Dracula stayed on holiday back in 1890 a number 6 Royal Crescent, which now as a blue plaque and Whitby is a Goth town. Thank you for show another East Coast resort that I have stayed for short breaks and day trip since I was a child. My dad use to holiday sometimes at Whitby when he was a lad with his brother, mum and dad {my Grandma and Granddad}. Shame you did not get to Robin Hoods Bay, Filey and Bridlington. East and North Yorkshire have some of the best coastal view and I love walking around them. Thank You for another great Video Tim.
Thanks for watching 😃
Whitby looks beautiful never been o have to go I will
You should helen
Love Whitby, lost count of the times I've been. I only live 40 minutes drive away so feel blessed to live so close.
As a guy who now lives in the us I love watching these videos I love English seaside towns I know there are many more glamorous places but I do miss day trips to an English seaside town getting fish and chips and walking along the beach and pier many good times I had watching the videos bring back good memories Thank You keep up the great work
Glad you like them! thanks for watching :-)
I absolutely love Whitby
I’m originally from Yorkshire and have many happy memories of Scarborough ,Whitby ,Robin Hoods Bay ,boggle hole ,yes there is such a place,
Lol I thought so
Ooh you call that busy? I’m here in Whitby right now and it is rammed!! I’m expecting this every year when I come to Whitby because next week is goth weekend! And people start to arrive early! Also trenchers fish and chips is my absolute favourite of the many fish and chip shops there!
Can’t wait to watch the rest of this video!
Love Trenchers fish and chips.
@@franrowe8696 I agree, always great service and great fish and chips
We timed our visit from Australia for the second week of May last year. Only one day out of three was packed in town, so we took off for the museum until the crowds died down a bit. What a historically and geologically fascinating area it is. We'll be back next year - slightly out of season again hopefully 💜💚
It's been 40 years since I lived in Whitby and I am going to be visiting it next week. I can't wait! I remember going up to the abbey with my future husband when we first dated and there was no wall around it. It was free to the public. What a lovely place.
It's lovely rosina
Enjoyed very much your presentation of Whitby. Superb as usual.
Thanks
Well, this has sold me on Whitby - I went there years ago but only very briefly - would love to go again - great video!
That was good I enjoyed it I love all the editing that you do
Your welcome thanks for watching
Amazing. I love Whitby. I've been there a few times(well 4-5 )times actually). Harry Colletts walking tours and ghost walks are amazing but he maybe retired now. He was always fantastic and his knowledge of Whitby was totally amazing.
I also loved Fish n Chips there with lots of gravy.
There was also the screaming tunnel you could walk through letting out a scream as you went. So much more I could say but thats not bad for starters.
Your You Tube walking tour brought it all back and as Harry always said "There is a right way a wrong way and a Whitby way" All the best from Ray.
thanks ray
You take me to places I'll never see Tim... thank you 🙂
Your welcome
Another fantastic & incredible video i went with my brother for a day!.💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕
Indeed
Hoping to go to Whitby this autumn, and just fallen on your video's; love them!
Yay .. thanks
Whitby is stunning, I've visited many times and never get tired of the scenery. I was there 2 weeks ago...
Yes I love it too
Haven't been to Whitby for 25 years and the area around the Abbey has changed a lot. Used to be more open (and windswept) plus lots of car parking up there on unkempt land. Now looks more touristy and managed.
Yes agree
once you could look round whitby abbey free of charge now thay are ripping off the locals like me and the tourists it should be a none profit organisation. just to see a old run down ruin..
I'm always so happy to see a new video. Love traveling with you! Thanks!
Thanks for watching
This will be a special watch looking👀 forward it👍👍Tim
❤
Great Video of Whitby Tim Loved it .. Thank from Tommy 😉👍

Yes you are right ali
Good Thursday evening to you sir and your family from Wellington Somerset
Good evening, thanks for watching
Haven’t been to Whitby for a few years but really love it. The walk to Robin Hoods Bay across the cliffs is wonderful - so peaceful with only the skylarks singing their beautiful tune😊
Hey bridgette, I would have done the walk but I had walked about 10 miles already that day lol
@@WalkWithMeTim And the 199 steps lol 😊😊
@@bridgetteparker5149 lol
Whitby is a fantastic place and this was a brilliant advert for the town, great job. There are some other fabulous places to visit in North Yorkshire. Robin Hoods Bay, Runswick Bay and Staithes are all well worth a look, as is Saltburn by the Sea. Put em on your list of must visit's up here.
Thanks Eric, yes I will do
@@WalkWithMeTim You won't be dissapointed!!

Love Whitby! Especially the place that sells the traditional smoked kippers down one of the old snickleways. I also recommend nearby Robin Hoods Bay. ☺
Yes it's beautiful 😍
Also in Bram Stoker's Dracula and used in a music vid back in the 80'a by a band called Simply Red.

whitby is a town not a village
I have seen quite a few videos on Whitby, but I have to say this one gives a fresh perspective especially the little boat trip.👍

Excellent Tim.
Thanks
I once visited Whitby on a family holiday when I was a child. I remember a trip which went about a couple miles out to sea on a old lifeboat which had came from Norfolk. I really enjoyed the ride out to sea but my late mother felt sea sick
I don't think I've ever been sea sick
I never been sea sick either Tim
Thank you for your effort Tim I look forward to visiting one day. Your reaction to the pair of tights in the market made me laugh!
lol thanks
At last you got to beautiful yorkshire 😀 great video and great destination cheers Rob

If you think is was busy that day you should go when The Whitby Goth Weekend is on. 😆
wow
I didn’t do the steps on our trip 2 years ago. But the Whitby Town Bus is only £8.50 and less for concession. So I will ride up and walk down on our next visit in September
I love Whitby

Hey Ian, thanks for watching
Great video again not been there for a while must go again when I am up in north yorkshire
You should mick , on a beautiful day its amazing
Great video we love Whitby, the yellow open top bus is really good and gives you loads of information about the place, like those seats on the 199 steps were originally put there as coffin rests, so the bearers could rest the coffins on the way to the church.
omg!
Hello Tim, Gaby. Going to watch it now.
Yay
Looks a lovely place, never visited that coastline 🌊

My wife and I love whitby!
its a great place
Nice video. I enjoy visiting Whitby for a day visit. It seems to be stuck in a time warp lovely old houses and cobbled streets. The magpie restaurant has a good reputation for good food (fish and chips).
Totally agree
Loved this BUT you can laugh, I am ...... You can tell I'm a newbie ... Got an alert (and one I set for myself) and thought ooops! Tim live is on and I didn't check anything else.... I need educating ;-) ... Appreciate you letting me know Tim .... Yeah, Sunday lol ...... Paula x

hi tim what a awesome video i come to whitby everyday captain james cook is better than eny president he found a lot of lovely countrys whitby is a beautiful town. only downside is that some of the fish n chip shops are expensive .i own 3 pro television on shoulder video cameras i normaly use them in whitby ect a lot of tourist that come to whitby dont understand what beauty whitby is..
Thanks for watching, yes I truly is beautiful
Well informative showed Whitby very well, goth week can be manic. Whitby now has an excellent park and ride system ,not expensive compared to parking in the town. (Stay safe )😷
Thanks for sharing
Great video Tim ! 👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks
I liked Whitby but I managed to see more or less all of it in the space of six hours. However, I'd imagine it's a great base to explore other areas of North Yorkshire, a place that has disarming, outstanding beauty.
yes agree! I love Yorkshire
Love that you thought it was crowded Tim..you should try it on a bank holiday weekend..can't move for people and dogs..🤣
yikes
Hi Tim, thanks for recommending Whitby bay. My partner and I went there yesterday, we parked at Robin hood bay, and did the Cleveland way walk, there and back, which to be honest was murder in the heat, but well worth it. We also did the £4 boat ride on the summer queen, which was unbelievably cheap, we're up from Kent, staying at Skipton North Yorkshire, anyway, we had a memorable day, thanks to you. So a big thanks from us . Next year we are hoping to go to Gibraltar. Thanks Tim 👍
wow thanks James .. im glad you had fun and had great weather , I know £4 for a little trip out to sea is great isn't it!
Sure was Tim, definitely worth a visit.
Good video, its a lovely place
It really is!
We’re going to Whitby for our wedding anniversary on the 30th of this month, really looking forward to it, it is a class destination.
it so is .. have fun
amazing video tim
Thanks mandy
Another incredible shoot Tim, you really do this so well, I mean you really do, do this stuff so well. I visited Whitby once many moons ago, it struck me as one of those places that almost becomes a victim of its own success, a bit like Cambridge, Oxford (I live near Oxford - Aylesbury - famous for Ducks), Canterbury, St Ives, Padstow and becomes overwhelmed by tourists do you think ? which in & of itself is not a bad thing I suppose, considering what we've all been through I guess.
My home town was Liverpool, oddly the docks area (Liver Buildings, Cunard Building, Mersey Docks & Harbour Building) collectively - "The Three Graces" are 'currently' a UNESCO world heritage site and well worth a 'walk with me' one day maybe, you can still catch a "Ferry Cross the Mersey" too, along with the two Cathedrals (The Anglican Cathedral is the largest in Europe and took over seventy years to build) the Catholic (Or Metropolitan Cathedral) known locally as "Paddys Wigwam" is an absolute stunner, the original Art Deco 'Speke Airport Building' now a Marriot ? Hotel. Indeed there is so much to see you could easily fill an entire 'walk with me' playlist - please though, if you're ever "Up North", visit Southport too, my childhood playground and go on "Silcocks Gallopers" too, I'd love to show you round, you'd probably generate enough footage for an entire TV series. There are also sufficient doughnut & coffee outlets to keep your lovely and brilliant wife Gaby, very happy indeed,
I adore the 'Live-streams' too, but I always end up getting remarkably drunk and posting lots of nonsense in the chat column - Hic. Take care Tim. Thank you again kindly Genius.
Lol that's some comment wow sound interesting, don't get to drunk 🤣

Hi Tim may I ask
Hi Tim your excellent entertaining work you do there questions of interest for you are you doing a live Q@A soon will this be fri/sun
Hopefully depending on signal
Thanks Tim that was a really nice walk especially as I’m recovering from gallbladder surgery 😂👍
How are you doing. I had mine removed somewhere in my early 20’s.
You're welcome hope u get better
Yikes
@D K I had my gallbladder removed in 2013 at 42 . They are so painful I was so relieved when it had gone . Wishing you a speedy recovery X
@@traceybeerling4776 The pain from mine actually caused me to soil my bed and then collapse on my sister in the shower. When I had it removed and was in recovery room the surgeon went to see mum and said how she lived with that is beyond me, it was chronic and should have been removed a lot sooner. Before surgery we saw one doctor who called himself a professor and he told me I was crazy, I was imagining it and it was in my head.
Nice video
Thanks Tony
Loads of parking in whitby ,nether struggled wether school is on or not . In 25 years of driving I think there's always been over 5 that I can think of so taking an hour to park you must av had ya blinkers on 😂
Have a watch of Simply Red. Holding back the years video Tim. 👍
👍👍👍👍
Hi Tim, I am from Bridlington. Please could you do a video on the town that never came in to being - Ravenscar, just north of Scarborough and Staithes which is further north from Whitby? These videos are brilliant.
intresting what do u mean the town that never came to being?
@@WalkWithMeTim At the turn of the 19th - 20th century plans were made to turn it into a holiday resort to rival Scarborough. Roads were laid out and named. There is a visitors centre all about it which is very interesting. The Cleveland Way walk passes through as well. One of the problems with the place was that the beach was almost inaccessible and it is very rocky.
@@helenblackburn6162 oh yes i remember now
