Great to see you enjoy exploring a-ha.
When a-ha was invited to deliver a song for the James Bond movie "The living daylights", Pål already had this song ready. They hadn't realized that John Barry had to be a co-songwriter. Barry made some changes to the song that Pål didn't like. He took away some of what Pål was most happy with. It all ended up with Barry finding the band uncooperative and he ended up calling them the Hitler Jugend, which obviously was not a nice thing to say.
On the album "Stay on these roads" a-ha removed the changes John Barry had made. If I am not completely mistaken, you have now listened to the album version. Someone posted it on CZcams and adapted it to the video. I like both versions, but I like John Barry's version better than the album version. I do know a lot of people disagree with me.
This is one of the songs that have been played on concerts through the years. The band invites the audience to sing along. A wonderful moment to be part of.

This song was always a highlight in many a-ha concerts.
Like Mark said this version is not not one of the original ones (Album or Movie version), it sounds like a remix. The original version is much better.

In the summer of 1987, at 8.20am (approximately), I was awoken by my mother. I don't think she even knocked. She excitedly shouted "a-ha's new song is on the radio!" as she fumbled with my clock radio. And there it was, "The Living Daylights". And I thought ... "eh". I'm sure someone else will explain below, there are two mixes of this song, many fans prefer this album version to the single version. I sort of agree - the synth bass and electric guitar sound great on this version and the outro is superior. I think its legacy is probably as a live song rather than the studio recordings.

Ok you are listening to the remixed version of the original version, the video you are watching was the original video with the original version from the James bond movie. What you are listening to is the 1988 Album version a-ha done, much more synth version. You should listen to the origami version

Hi, thanks for another A-HA reaction. I’m looking forward to your opinion on this one. The living daylights is theme theme song to the James Bond film of the same name. It’s classic A-HA and taken from their third studio album stay on these roads. I like the studio version but to hear it best is to hear it live because it always has audience participation and so does hunting high and low live. Have a great weekend. For corporate reasons the band were not able to use their own recording for the movie on their own album, so they re-recorded and this was the re-record. Movie version is bigger and more 'Bond' like.
