Anyone else start checking every day for a new Dan video? I Need my Chaumont Fix.
Every day!
I’ve been watching every day since the beginning, I wouldn’t miss it!
Every day, except Saturday and Sunday 😊
Yes even when I know it’s to early 😳
Yes i do love Dans streams x
"went with the logistics of brute force in the end" 😂😂😂😂😅😂
Best line so far !!!!!
It was the shortness of the clip and the little swagger that went with it that made it for me. Cheers.
I laught out loud
🤣🤣 wins every time 🙌😁
I’m looking forward to the day Dan opens his front door wearing a velvet smoking jacket …A pipe in one hand, and the other hand waving us in to see his masterpiece chateau…in all its glory! 😂😊
Ждём-с!!! Все ждём этот момент!!! 🎉
@melodyfisher1512
Like Hugh Hefner? 😅
I think he'll open the door wearing a ratty t-shirt, sawdust in his hair, holding a drill and telling the kids not to jump off the balcony. 🎉😂
@@homemoviesandotherstuff3419 😂😂😂😂
@@homemoviesandotherstuff3419 And keep the goats out of the kitchen!!
I agree with the other comments, there’s a lot of videos of folks restoring château and farm houses but something about Dan and this one is magical. I think it’s the frequency. Dan puts off can’t exactly explain it. It’s just fun to watch and relaxing. My daughter and I are potters. I think I want to make a cookie jar of the château. 🥰
That would be awesome!!
It’s Dan’s personality and his balance of building and talking.
Fun!
Definitely Dan's vibe! I'm here because while I love Dan, I want to see the stuff getting done without a lot of banter. He always delivers a good balance
100%
That lifter! The best tool Dan has ever bought.
Either that or the rabbet cutter.
Lifter deserves a knighthood. It's my second favourite character in this whole series! 😂
@@angelpais8160 the red raiser!
yes INDEED.. ELECTRICAL BIG POWER SOURCE BATTERY SO BOYS WOULD GAVE TO CRANK. I5 WOULD BE REAL HELPFUL. I DO NOT LIKE TO SEE DAN WORKING ALONE!!! ITS DANGEROUS. NOT EVEN CAT IS THERE IF HE FELL. 🎉 Dan keep ur Cel phone in ur POCKET 💯% of time. Please!! We worry about ur ladder work. U R NOT A MONKEY🎉
but I still don't get, why he didn't buy the accessory for it to lift it with a power drill instead of manually cranking it
Shout out to the tools sponsors, thanks for helping out our boy, and I hope this sponsorship is paying great dividends for your businesses.
We’ve all seen how essential all these tools and machines are. In the unlikely event I build something major I would definitely get some of these.
Axminster are a great company. I wish that we had something comparable in Australia.
I can confirm that Festo machines are really good.
The tools are great but can you imagine of doing all this by hand at the time this was built
Sherwin Williams rocks!
Dan, as we have always said: "You are the man!" Congratulations!
That cranky thing has certainly served it's purpose throughout this challenging project.
There I am screaming at the TV, "Dude , you got your red lifty thing". And then you realized that you could be using it.
I'm an old guy who spent most of his career lifting and carrying...first thing you learn as you age is, "let the tools do the work ".😂
I don’t know why I love watching your videos so much but it’s something about watching this ruin come back to life maybe
Definitely watching it come back to life. Oh, and watching men working isn’t bad either for this girl 😉
@@mnamberlol😊
Maybe . . . ? :) Definitely plausible
@@TheIslandJoe I've loved watching Dan's skills... and tool collection develop since the beginning.
Watching Dan’s passion and positivity are factors too.
I am so impressed with you, Dan. One day, years from now, when this is done and you children are grown, they can watch these videos and they will be so proud of their dad.
Hi Dan. My dad is gone now but he would have adored watching you. So when I started watching, it helped me miss him a bit less. I’ve been watching so long now, I realize I’m watching for myself too. Be well. Stay safe. Keep going because it’s been a blessing for people in ways you can’t fathom. ❤
@@erickoelsch562 I picture the joy this program would have given my Dad
I cannot believe the speed at which this roof section is coming together Dan. It's like watching it go up on fast forward.
oi can't believ the frame was strong enough for dan to rest ladders against it.....
It's called video editing ;-)
😂
Another day, another video of Dan doing the most impressive work on the chateau.
Truly hope you remember to give yourself a clap on the back.
All while Philip is working hard, polishing his china and crystal gewgaws!
Dan, you are amazing! Accomplishing the impossible on your own. What a hero, you deserve to be very proud of yourself . From Florida
and a few beers 🍺🍺🍺
It's because Dan is so lovable, he draws you into his dream and as you watch its as if your helping him, sometimes I get tired trying to hold a beam for him or push something into place then I realise I'm just watching he's doing the work
Where has your little team of supermen gone Dan? I really don't know how you manage these things by yourself! You're incredible!!🎉
I was wondering the same thing too.
There's not much they can do to help with this.
Dan is just the best. One man army, day after day just knocks it out the park. Play safe.
That lifter has been your other helper on this build, your a team, well done, the structure looks so beautiful.
“You’re a team”! Hilarious!
Agree. the lifter is a vital member of the team. it needs a name. “Louie the Lifter” 😂
In all these months that lifter has proven to be Dan's most faithful friend. From bottom to top literally.
Bro, don’t hurt yourself. The pain of losing time to an injury is the worst kind. Love that lifter! It’s your best friend right now!
Amazing solo feat to build the Mansard roof all by your self.
A day without Dan, is like a day without Sunshine......😊
Agreed 🎉
I love how the cat wall clock somehow embodies your impatience to get things done. Added a while new dimension to the plot!
I think his gf is called Kat too? Kind of sweet
Dante, where is the wall clock????☺️
It's like GIANT JENGA or lego..... well done Daniel. I wonder if the French have a 'Contribution to architectural heritage' award..... I would definitely grant you that for your efforts. Amazing....what a hero!!! xxx
That “lifter” doesn’t owe you anything Dan. What an amazing piece of kit. Another fabulous video. Many thanks 😊
You’re amazing, Dan. Can’t believe what you manage to achieve working by yourself. Love the videos. 😊
You've become a much more skilled carpenter since this project began
I’m amazed at what Dan can get done on his own. Dan the one-man army. Work goes faster with your friends helping. But there are times when you just need to do somethings by yourself. It brings a special kind of satisfaction. Calvin, Nick and Brian will be pleased with the work you have done here. Can't wait to see all the gang together again. Happy 4th
He puts in “Herculean” days and loads up videos to boot. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
🪜🔨🪚🏗️
It is a privilege to watch you problem solving. You show that with enough thought, anything is possible. Awesome ❤
I call this the work of Hercules. Truly incredible. You sound philosophical despite the hard labour involved.
Experience counts, I can't believe how fast this roof is coming together. Awesome work Dan!
Your work proves the old saying that 'where there's a will there is a way.' Beautiful work. Pat yourself on the back.
Up and down thingy!! Once again your technical terms bring a smile to my face. You always have a few seconds of doubt, then you bring it home you make it seem smooth as butter. But I guess it’s all in the editing and so on. You did good.
Ah, the new video, nice, best thing of the day to see Dan at work 😀
Watching you do this framing is like watching an artist perform a masterpiece. Excellent job. Keep going strong!
Did everyone scream at the screen when that second frame fell over ??? Oh My Goodness.
You know when Dan takes his shirt off, IT'S GAME ON !!! IT FIT - IT FIT !!!! YAY, Well Done Dan.
Glad you got good weather to wrestle with the A Frames!!!
I’m constantly amazed at what Dan can get done on his own. Way to go ,
The WOW FACTOR is in full force. When you look at what you accomplish in a days work, "WOW. I CAN'T BELIEVE I DID THIS" Congradulations Dan!
😊 We are all seriously addicted to this chateau! The work put into it is amazing.
I’m proud of u Dan. Being disabled I’ve had to figure how to do things on my own. If u need assistance don’t be afraid to ask though.❤ we love u and don’t want to see u get hurt.
I'll be so relieved when rain water stops soaking all the timber you have fitted. Great job.
stunning progress. Not sure how many workplace safety rules may have been broken, but - I won't tell.... well done
I just went back and watched the first episode again as a reminder of how far you have come Dan. It is truly astounding what you have accomplished (with your team of legends) so far. Your perseverance, excitement, wonder and sheer grit are to be admired almost as much as the transformation of Chateau de Chaumont. Outstanding. Thank you for sharing this journey with us all.
Here is a tip. When pulling frames together don't drill straight through the joint. Drill through the mortised area, put the tenon in and mark it with a pencil then remove and adjust the centre about 3/32" closer to the shoulder of the piece and drill it. Put a good chamfer on your treenails then assemble and drive them home. That small offset will bring the joint in tight as a drum and will not loosen as the assembly dries. I would bet that is how every joint in the original work was done.
@markbernier8434 Draw boring - Great method! 👍🏼
It will be quite time-consuming, though.
Thank you, you have saved me typing this. It hurt watching this, seeing the gaps, that will only get larger as the timber dries.
He did that last time, I think he's given up on that as it's slower and more work.
@@Lee-ot2uk Not really, if you are going to dry fit, why not trust your measurements, to also bore the pegs / dowels / treenails? I would always assemble dry to check, although I find my measurements and machining to within a 1/16".
@@Lee-ot2uk It really isn't once you get the method down pat. If the guys that do timber framing for a living still do it it must be worthwhile.
i'm baffled by the fact that you can do this all by yourself
Getting the whole A-frame up on your own is insane. You're doing an awesome job, Dan!
I just love it that you have a crack at it first. Brut strength. Then realise you need the big guns for some jobs. So many reno’s out there aren’t doing it themselves. I just love it that you are. ❤🏰👏👏👏
I find it amazing how much you get done having to work alone.
cheapest form of getting it done
Congratulations! Well Done!
Ultimate determination here….doing this by yourself. American here, thought since it was the holiday there would be no video. LOL, forgot Dan is not in the US. You are a machine, Dan!! Can’t wait to see you finish the inside when all the outside is complete.
It's only a holiday in the U.S., not in Europe.
He’s British, why would he celebrate some hillbillies kicking out his noble ancestors? Happy 4th of July to you!
@@MayfairMagic*Europe and the entire rest of the world 😸
I thought that too, but French Independence Day is later in July. Bastille Day.
Dan isn't known to care much about holidays anyway.
In true "roofer" mode, shirt off in sun, mandatory/tradition. "It's a thing"! I loved that. Howdy from Oregon USA.
WOW! That was pure brute strength and determination! You did it Dan, Calvin, Nick and Brian will be raising a glass in your honour tonight.
🇨🇦🙏❤️
C'est un casse-tête extrêmement bien conçu et réfléchi ! Ce travail gargantuesque mérite amplement une distinction d'artisan de France ! Salutations, mon grand !
Was anyone else holding there breath while watching Dan lifting the a frames
No, I was cheering him on!
Congratulations Dan, so proud of every step you've taken on this chateau journey, truly a one man wonder!
You always find a way when it looks like there’s no way out…….your perseverance is what I admire most
Dan amazes me with his skill and working alone.
I love starting my day watching Dan & co ❤
Every evening . Just before sleep
Superman Dan. Honey, you are incredible. You are a one man show. I can’t believe you got those A-frames up all by yourself. What a great feat. Again, you are unbelievable. So happy for you. Until tomorrow. Please, take care and stay safe. Love ya 🍺🌈👍🌹🇺🇸😇🌞🙏❤️🕊
Impressive accomplishment on your own Dan - good lessons throughout for others undertaking a similar project. Your joinery is equally impressive.
Same again but so so so different. Well done Dan.
Brilliant! Well done Dan, a fantastic job on your own!
All of France, UK, and America (and probably more) is with you. Just don't get hurt. Be careful my friend. We're with you!
It's going to be really exciting, once it's a building again, to see it slowly become livable again. Once it's got a roof and windows and is sealed up, the interior restoration work can begin!
I ❤ the spark in your eyes when you know you’ve just nailed this day! 🙌 💪
Dan the man with a plan...Me screaming Dan! get the lift!!!😮
Yep! I go in search for Dan ...every morning with my first cuppa for the day... ( Im in Oz ) he brings us back to basics
This is what goes through my mind ..when admiring 'Old Architecture " ..their minds their hands their tears and sweat along with the soreness which comes after a good days Labour and with their well deserved satisfaction after their achievement. . Im so glad you came across my path ! Ta .
There are times when you just need to do something by yourself. It brings a special kind of satisfaction. Nevertheless you DO have some very worthy work-mates who are fiercely loyal to you and the project. SEE YOU tomorrow!
Man V Roof. Good idea for a TV show
Your “looking forward to tomorrow messages” keeps us coming. Amazing progress given the amount of labour available.
I noticed here in the united states, homes built hundreds of years ago are still standing while modern buildings are cracking and falling apart. Keep up the good work dan.. old is better then modern. Cheers
No offense, but the way modern houses are built in the US nowadays wouldn’t pass the smell test in Europe. Cheap, thin walls that one can punch through are not exactly the epitome of durability.
A triumph of design, skill, engineering and brute force. What dogged persistence in achieving this Dan. Well done. A legend.
It’s a thing, a beautiful thing. So good to see this moving along so quickly. Way to go Dan. 😊
Brilliant Dan!!! Brilliant, but scary 🫣
Astounding that 1 man raised that roof on his own. I think one reason we love this channel is that it has an element of danger and suspense--just like a great novel!
Unbelievable you are able to make everything fit correctly on the roof. Also unbelievable you are able to put it together by yourself......A Subscriber
As a construction professional, I am very impressed with the one man effort. Not many would attempt that. A word of caution though...I you slip and get hit with one of those heavy timbers, who is going to call for help. At about 5:20 I was getting quite concerned, and was relieved when you hauled out the winch lift. Even if their only job is to have a cell phone in hand, a second person on site is a good idea. Really hoping to see you finish this in a year or so.
That clock is so adorable haven't seen one in years. I'm so happy seeing the roof going in yay.
Perhaps we will see more of the clock in the future,
@@chrislane3974 I guess time will tell.😄
That's quite a good level of skill to make such a pro-looking a-frame with mortise & tenon, and then get it to fit so well, with just a person doing it.
i recognize the " i will get this done by hook or crook" mentality and i applaud you Sir!..sheer willpower and...well you know!...Work safe!
Dan you're like Superman doing what you do by yourself. I kept telling you to use the LIFT and you finally did and it made the lifting so much easier getting them into place!
After lifting all those heavy beams for a year and something, I’m amazed you don’t have muscles on your muscles😂 well done that looked incredibly hard work
Dan, that hand-cranked lift is a truly great piece of equipment . Well done to it’s inventor!
You are truly amazing Dan, to do all that roof section by yourself! You deserve a gold medal. We love all your videos and long
may they continue.
I'm thankful you finally figured out how to use the lift. I am concerned about the strain on your back and knees as it will bite you in the bud when older.
Trust me, I learned the hard way.
When that A-Frame hang-man went sideways and started to fall it was another tense moment like the wood almost falling down the stairwell... I was thinking "Why doesn't he use that lifter sitting right there and stop trying to be a hero and get hurt"... Then he did, whew..
Dan, I watched Leo completely rebuild the Tally Ho for years, your own odyssey towards the full restoration and preservation of a classic treasure, the pursuit of the dream, inspires for me the same great admiration and great interest. Big thanks for this great ride.
You knocked it out of the park today. Congratulations!!
That’s quite a nice roof thingie you got going on there! Good job Dan!! 😘💋
Thank goodness for that lift. It is Dan's best friend! Awesome job!
When I was a child, my father was a barn builder. I watched as he and my great uncle would put the trusses together in the same way you are building them. Fascinating to watch.
Nothing short of incredible! Well done Dan!
My Evening Routine and your Video Release Time is a better Lovestory than Twilight - loving it Dan!
Don't you love it when a plan comes together so well? Good on you 🙌
You did a thing, and we're all super stoked for you and tomorrow's thing...
AND AGAIN HE-MAN, with brilliant reasoning/planning skills, nerves of steel and lots of ohmygosh you scared the crap out of me.
Well done Dan! Every day is a step closer to finish the roof! Rest well!
Looking FANTASTIC !!!!
Can't believe how much of this you're able to do by yourself. Well done!
What an achievement Dan … yet again your meticulous measuring has paid off as the beams slot into place perfectly 👏👏👏👏👏
Well done on your successful lift of the A frame … 👍
I’m one of the people that will remember that you actually did that !!!!!! Brute strength for sure ..

The last time I saw a stumble like that was in Ben Hur with the cross.
