IMO, there is no one car that is the 'best', it depends on what you are doing.
Big Boss: Seats 4 people and has 6 storage slots (can seat extra people in the back). A pig to handle, slow and drinks fuel, but the armour lasts ages which makes it a top choice when you have to clear out 5 or 6 local infestations on the bounce.
Vandito: Seats 4 people and has 8 storage slots. Reasonable on fuel, average handling and average speed. Lights are not great at night. Best choice for scavenger runs.
Viking: Seats 4 people and has 6 storage slots. Large fuel tank with average fuel consumption. Good handling and average speed. Reasonable lights. A good option for long range night runs.
Smashwagon: Seats 4 people and has 6 storage slots. Average fuel consumption. Good handling and average speed. Reasonable lights. Similar to the Viking but with a smaller fuel tank and better armour. A good option for night runs.
Trail Beast: Seats 2 people and has 6 storage slots. Good on fuel, good handling and good speed. Lightly armoured. Small and nimble, it can fit through almost any gap and go over most obstacles. A good choice for long range recon runs or fetch quests where you might have to go offroad.
Get a selection and pick the one that best fits your job at hand. Also you might not want to upgrade every car. The Pilato has the best lights because it has a lightbar on the roof, that gets a downgrade if you change it to a smashwagon. :)

I wish I had come across this before upgrading my Police cruiser. It drives so bad now compared to how it was. Slower too. But good to know for future vehicles.

Weird, my Vandito has a full 9 slot inventory. It's upgraded from the repair van so maybe that's why?

PSA: don't upgrade Brogan Trekker, as Trekker has 8 slots, but the upgraded version (Hellion) only has 5 slots.
I would say don't upgrade the survey car either, cause it looses the scouting ability.
contarious scouting doesn't matter that much when you can look up in the internet for all maps.
Yeah, your right inventory down but faster and armored.
Maybe i'm OCD about my cars but i need at least one of every type available... sometimes even multiples of certain types.
I keep my excess rucksacks in all the trunks for quick transfer to base when i fall into yellow.
My 3 Vandito's are supply run only, great space and with a partner we have 2 vehicles out with 16 spots for rucksacks plus one on each person.
Survey car when going into an unexplored area
Brogans when doing mission with multiplayer
The speed cars for quick missions into previously explored areas
Big Boss is for infestation control
Trail beasts and Norma for off roading on hunts
And finally the Viking for multiple stage missions that run around the map.

my favorite vehicle have always been the Zedbuster, zombies can't grab on to the truck anywhere other than the 2 doors, and if they run into the front they just die, even if you are stationary. 4 seats 6 slots, does like fuel but it's also pretty quick and agile for its size

Thanks for this. I was playing in someone else's game and he had the Big Boss and I was wondering what vehicle that upgraded from. Thought it was the utility truck. Should of guessed it was the military truck.
Thanks. I've played this game for years and haven't seen half of these. I usually stick with the Wichita ES and the Trail Beast because they are the most common. You can't jump on top of the Trail Beast and it only seats 2 so the Wichita ES is just better in my opinion.
The little brogan trekked has 8 slots b4 upgraded, then only 4 when upgraded, survey car unlocks stiff on the map b4 upgraded, like if u were surveying.
So light medium and heavy upgrade kits. Can I upgrade the hatch back with a heavy or medium kit? Or does it have to be light?

A test the original and modded would have been great as I've noticed some cars feel different when you mod them. The big armored van is one. The original feels so heavy, ironic since the upgraded looks like it adds more metal to it but upgraded it feels faster and handles way better.

Same here!! It's well balanced in every aspect from fuel consumption to speed to storage. You don't get stuck easily and you can climb hills easily ^_^

Hey Crispy from your experience from all the SOD2 maps are all the pleague hearts in the same Spots every-time or no. Bc I saw ur world records videos and you find the hearts pretty fast and I was just wanting to know how you know all the spots
No, they are not in the same spot every-time. When I did the Plague Heart challenge, I did the same map over and over. I often found plague hearts in the same area, but in a different building. Other times though, the plague hearts could be in some random building that's sitting by itself in the corner of the map.
Sometimes you get either 10 or 12 hearts also it seems.

I don't think you're car takes damage if you back up into zombies it's a easy way to kill juggernauts
Awhile back, like my 3rd playthrough, I found a weird mega car...maybe it was glitches since it was before the huge update, but it had 8 storage, looked like a vandito with the big boss mods on it...it registered on the map as vandito with half tsnk...but it wouldn't let me enter the car or take from it... 🙁

So far I like the hellion b.c of speed and 5 spaces. Armor is ass tho. Big boss is meh. Not terrible but I'm running it currently. Not a fan of the gas consumption.

Also the hellion is the only car I've been able to cleanly kill a feral with.
Impaler from the rear. They run right into it and the welded barbed bumper insta kills them. It also does a number on the Juggs. I collect the Impalers and put them around my base on long playthroughs. Zombies just touch the car sometimes and they die.
To be fair If you find Brogan Trekker, you should not upgrade it because it has 8 slots and Hellion is only 5 and you waste materials or influence to get the upgrade kit for less space in your vehicle.
what is the most fuel eficient car in there?
One of the ones with the huge fuel cans at the back (Viking, Mega Max, Trail Beast). Edit: Some cars hold more fuel than others which means longer distances. If by fuel efficient you mean distance per fuel tank, fast cars would obviously be the best.

Also if you play as someone with the auto mechanic skill you get 50% better fuel efficiency.
@ Dan Coniff. Someone with the "driver" perk/skill gets 100% fuel efficiency, 50% vehicle impact reduction and 50% vehicle noise reduction. So drive twice as far while taking half the damage and producing half the noise.
Takes a while to get a survivor with that skill when randomizing survivors but it's nice to have if you're going to be doing a lot of driving.
Diffidentone I've just got a survivor with driver skill which is nice because I'm in Drucker County and the amount of fuel I was getting through on the enclave calls was doing my head in. Only problem is he's also a nudist which kind of freaks out the other survivors.
Do you know if it stacks with the auto mechanic perk? I've got a mechanic but was going to make him an engineer when he levels up.

Made the mistake of showing Blisst's name. Didn't know he actively watched my videos.
Not sure what they did in the last patch but the handling of the Kaiser is now trash. Used to be able to go around 90 dgree corners full throttle now the damn thing spins out every time. Same with just giving it gas from slow corners, thing spins out. Used to be my favorite vehicle seeing how it was tanky and also fast but now it's just a use it when I have to vehicle.

It sucks because you can’t take the vehicles you upgraded with you when you move to another map
They fixed it you can now, make sure they are in your parking spaces
