    I truly loved this album and all the memories of 94. I had some lovely times with gary and beryl and Tony at the gigs but especially the sacrifice tour. I had some lovely conversations with beryl when she used to call me. May she rest in peace. She was a truly beautiful woman with a heart of gold. And she was so very proud of gary. It's good to have memories but also sad how memories can really hurt you when you look back and see how times have changed and how empty life can be when we realise how many beautiful people have gone from our lives but not from our hearts. 👤

      Same. The power of music is unmatched. The fact that people here share the same passion, makes it so much more than just music. ‘Sacrifice’ is brilliant. I remember having horrible night terrors about 15 years ago. This album frightened me at first. The opening track is eerie, but once I embraced the record and acknowledged my own pain, it was a light in the dark for me. ♥️

      @raylenepasquarella7302 Před rokem +1

      I absolutely love this album too, but I was actually in the best part of my life when this came out. It just made life even better listening to this album. The music is definitely some of his best. Also, I knew he was an atheist pretty much right after I started listening to him in 1980 (as an U.S. American, I was a bit late to his music). Even though I believe in a different higher power, if you will, I stopped believing in any religion by 8th grade. So this album spoke to me like so many of his others because I love that his music is so emotionally honest. And his railing against god and basically people who think atheists are going to hell resonated with me so much that I loved the album even more. What does an atheist or someone who doesn't believe in hell care that you think that. It's laughable at best. My one grandfather was an atheist (married to my practicing Catholic, but not preachy or forceful Grandmother), I was engaged to an atheist, and my best friend who also has spiritual beliefs is married to an atheist (26 yrs. now). I loved singing these songs at a very loud level and getting my own emotions about these things out. And isn't that what Gary Numan does best? Makes amazing sounding and honest music that his listeners can relate to so much that he actually gets people through some of the hardest times in their lives. For me it was Dance, which I owned and listened to for years, but for some reason it was that album that got me thru junior year of high school (1985). Every morning I started with Slowcar to China and it calmed me down enough to actually face the day. And Tubeway Army's Replicas still gets me through bad days. I really wish he realizes what he and his music has and continues to do for his fans and listeners.

      It sounds to me like he's being original, pretty unique flavoured music, but in modern music most artists use the same elements to create their own sound.
      In no way this makes me think about DM, but in the sounds, yes they use what everyone uses.
      Same could be said to the first days of synths, since everyone used Moog and that was the sound of that era, but each one has its own distinctive vibe.

    I have heard from good advice that this version was never officially released by Numan and he denied all knowledge of it. So, if it was shelved, how has it escaped his clutches? Or was it briefly available? Either way, I've never heard it and well done to the uploader! 90 mins of this dark stuff really sounds great.

      Can’t see that being true as I’ve got the extended CD. It’s a quarter of a century ago now, so the memory can play tricks, but I’m fairly sure it was all official and sanctioned/promoted by Numan.

    So, come on, he’s gonna play at least one track from this massively important album on his 40th anniversary tour. Which one will it be? ‘Seed of a Lie’ is up there with the Numan greats for me, but I wouldn’t be averse to a bit of ‘Scar’. What do you reckon?

    All sounds the same. From his first album to Telekon, he had it. And then he lost it Dance onwards. Everything from then on sounds the same.

    • @sstrange96
      @sstrange96 Před 3 lety

      Dance is a great album, great songs, a bit more experimental but feels like a natural evolution from Telekon to me. There’s more of a commercial sound to the albums after that but always changing style and each album a little different with something good to enjoy. Got too commercial and unoriginal for a while bit he snapped out of that.

    • @nocturnal7613
      @nocturnal7613 Před měsícem

      Lmao knowing that Replicas and The Pleasure Principle along with Telekon can be heard samewise without any changes. This is called "style" and Numan preferred to go with drum machines.

    Don't agree that this is a return to form. It's ok in parts but the production is awful and the final sound mix is all over the place (no it's not my stereo Gary). Since then it's been dirge after dirge.
