I'm a black man. I was married to a white woman who used to play this album. Wasn't feeling it at first, but after my divorce I went and bought this CD. 25 YEARS later I still play Little Earthquakes weekly, as I dose off to sleep! Tori Amos is my white "Mary J Blige"... if you've ever heard her. I love Tori Amos! She got me through some tough times! Little Earthquakes, the album is classic!

I was a clerk/manager for several Musicland stores in the Chicagand area from 1990-96. In my personal opinion it was just about the greatest time for music of all genres. I have about 800g of music and probably half comes from that time period. I still pull out things like Diggable, Me'shell, Dre and Snoop, Boys 2 Men, Mary K, De La Soul, Public Enemy all the time. And I'm 'a punk/alt rock guy'. Regardless of who creates it, great music is rare. When I find something that speaks to me, I embrace it too. Its a good trait more should have.

@@gottapee you sound foolish! While we are all "humans"... there are differences between the races, which is a beautiful thing! If you were offended by my comment you probably are some narrow-minded far-right white bigot! You've probably never dated outside your race, else you would never make an obvious statement . I learned a great deal about (white) music through dating outside my race. It was a beautiful thing! RACE MAKES ALL THE DIFFERENCE... and these differences should be celebrated, not sanitized with we're "all human" statements! That's abundantly clear.

My fellow 16 year old friend was like you have to hear this. She played the LEATHER. I WAS INSTANTLY HOOKED AND HAD TO HEAR THE WHOLE ALBUM.
We found out she was coming to play at our city's State theater. Somehow we managed to snag the three Dead Center tickets front row balcony. We bought special outfits. When the lights went down everybody was whooping and cheering and yelling for her and clapping our hands off... Then all of a sudden spotlights come on her at her piano, she touched one key in the room went silent!!! I've been to probably 100 different concerts and I've never seen anything like it.
I seen her dead center front row at her Grand rapids show like 4 years later, and then a couple years later is Lansing. It's always the same thing the room is cheering and clapping she presses that one key in the room goes silent from respect and attention. There's nothing like seeing Tori Amos live there is just nothing else like it.
** And I've been to Prince, ACDC, Tom Petty, and Ani DeFranco. Nothing touches the performance the energy and the experience of a Tori Amos show.

This is me, except I’m 44 and I was 15. I met her when I was 18 after a concert in Dallas, she was so nice and funny. I will never forget it. Recently, I had a friend of 30 years send my a text with a screenshot of Crucify playing her radio and said “This reminds me of you, it was always playing in your car. And continuously on our trip to Padre”
Tori got me through so really hard times, my abusive marriage when I was 20 and many years later, my mothers unexpected death. Then finally the strength to talk about my sexual abuse at 41. I truly believe my life would inherently different without her words. She’s a fucking icon.

Loved her voice and loved how she put her raw emotions into her songs. Have been a fan ever since. Flash forward to 1999 when I met my wife. She was also a huge fan and it was something we had in common when we first met. Played some of her songs at our wedding reception. When my wife passed in 2009 I had these albums in pretty much constant rotation. My daughter who was 11 at the time and is 23 now loves Tori as well. Also female vocalists are simply better, whether your talking about classical or pop music. Show me a male singer as good as Tori, or Amy Winehouse, or Sheryl Crow, or PJ Harvey -- or Waltraud Meier, for that matter.

Another male fan here - in 2021. (And again - now in 2023.) Even after all of these years, I still love this album. Some songs still make me shiver, such as Silent All These Years and Precious Things. She put so much of her own soul and personal pain into her music. I admire her bravery. Maybe that’s why I love it so much - her poignant honesty is timeless. So expressive and emotive. Despite the fact that (as a hetero male) I haven’t directly experienced what she sings about, I still find her stories moving. I have empathy and can imagine how much pain she (and all of us) have endured. Some of it is universal human emotion. We all feel sad and lonely sometimes, as of no one else hears us. Beautiful music from a beautiful person. Timeless. Thank you, Tori. God bless you.

I'm a man and this album, along with my dog Cracker helped get me through some tough times and a divorce in the early 90s. I spent many drunk nights lying on the floor clutching my dog while listening to Tori. The dog I had found as a puppy tied to a post in the back of someone's yard obviously neglected, and I randomly stopped and asked if I could have the dog. They said yes, so I had no choice really. The dog's new name was "25 Bucks and a Cracker".
She was the best dog, ever.

Sincerely hope you've been in a physical room IRL with other tori nuts at a meet & greet, Q&A, show or signing. There's something mysteriously magical and powerful created by her fanatics and I've experienced a ton of cultish live acts in concert (everything from Radiohead & Pearl Jam to the Dead, Metallica and Dave Matthew's Band) but there's something unparalleled about the energy created between both her and her audience. THE CLOSEST tangible thing I can use to relate to it to even begin to describe the experience would have to be would be my first times rolling on ecstasy in groups of my best friends in the '90s.

+Katie Rebecca Wilson When men deny their anima, the part of us that is female, they often cringe at anything that might make them feel sensitive or seem weak. I like many, many kinds of music and am also a singer/songwriter. I feel that Tori is one of those rare artists who were truly touched by the divine and allowed to speak to a huge audience about the most private parts of herself, and thus allow others to feel connected to those aspects within themselves and each other. Though it is true that she criticizes men in some of her work, I don't take it personally. Men have had their chance to run the world and I welcome a new day. I think that The Beekeeper is her masterpiece!

i first saw her live on mtv (formerly known as MUSIC television) when this album came out, and i was immediately hooked. she played 3 songs and it blew my mind. bonus: she was also a Sandman fan, like me. i got to see her live soon after, and i even found a vinyl of Y Cant Tori Read. i also hooked all my friends on her. and i began collecting all her cd singles with all the bonus tracks which were a big thing bitd. and i'm so happy she's released all this on youtube (especially since i lost nearly my entire music collection). she was and is and forever will be so awesome. (she never was a cornflake girl -- she was ALWAYS a goddess!) thank you Tori for everything.

"Leather" is one of the sexiest songs ever written; I feel like I should shower off while listening or after listening to it, I feel that dirty, and my mind as a man just goes places while I sing along. That song makes love to me, I never want it to end. Sorry to share such an intimate moment in my heart and mind, beautiful work Tori, I play piano, and that is one of your best.

Got this album the date it came out when I was 19, and have had it ever since -- as an audio cassette, then as three different CDs I played so much I wore them out.
As others here have stated, this album has been unusually instrumental (no pun intended) in helping me through many a tough time, and the good ones as well.
Thank you Tori Amos, from the bottom of my heart, for such great and healing music.

I’m 44 and I was 15 when this album came out. I met her when I was 18 after a concert in Dallas, she was so nice and quite funny, I will never forget it.

Always loved her music - especially this cd... this is one of very few cd's I can listen from start to finish without skipping a song. Right!? It feels blasphemous to label this as such. Like, it's a disservice to her talent and craft and production. to even lump this in and label it as merely "pop/rock"
      but obviously it is somehow.
and to me at least it's grown increasingly apparent with her future releases like "night of the hunters" which delve into classical territory and by contrast expose her first few classic LPs as the gems of "pop" music they are

@@barfs3147 Chucked out of the Peabody Conservatory of Music aged eleven where she had a scholarship, the youngest ever, from five. She didn't see eye to eye with them about pop and rock. Writing her own material at three. The woman is a prodigy. The Peabody forgets Mozart was once as disparaged and all that "classical" music was simply the pop of the day. Their loss.

I first heard of Tori Amos in 1996 or 7. Michelle Quan skated to the song winter. I used to skate and the verse I put my hand in my father’s glove rang deep in my life. I figured skated on and off, and my dad was my biggest supporter. He died when I was 18. Years later, the other song that rang true was Crucify rang true again. I was being bullied by my sister-in-law to have children . The first version of the song about wanting to speak up the bowling ball in my stomach, desert in my mouth, figures out my courage sell out now is EXACTLY how I felt. I finally told her off when she was pressuring time to have a second child. After that, she never bothered me again,BUT she took it on my son, no Christmas card or birthday presents. Never acknowledged him
