About a decade ago I first heard this album. I was into it just after the first listen. Coming back to it now...still amazing. It's rare to find an album where you don't want to skip any songs. Some of the atmospheres reminds me of something from an action movie. Would love to hear Numan score an action film.

Love the track Berserker and its a solid LP apart from the female backing singers which became too prominent on Gary's 80s output, but I did not like the look at all. These days on stage he smashes it, like a proper rock n roller, outstanding at the Ritz in Manchester the other week. A legend really, never has someone took such cr*p from the music press and then outlasted them all. Tremendous.

After all these years (fan since 90, found in op shops etc.) I think is the album with the most coherent and complete otherworld/offworld vibe. It really feels like it was created on, or for, some lonely grey dome habitat, spiked with antennae, in the early dusk, with soft coloured and white lights positioned semi-random along the doorways and other protruding locations on it's surface, out in a snow drift on some remote moon or other that no one even remembers building.

This is what really turned me on to Numan’s work when I heard NIN’s cover of “Metal” and accidentally downloaded the 1998 version of it on Limewire back in 2005 (remember those days?) instead of the original version on The Pleasure Principle. I discovered the song “Cars” from Vice City and didn’t know at the time he was making darker music until I found this and the rest is history; Savage and Intruder really blew me away. Crazy that his kids have grown up since then and are now starting to follow in their father’s footsteps, the future is Numan and I’m here for it.

Gary Numan's music STILL feels fresh and ahead of its time.

I'm not extremely familiar with all of his discography (except the firts ones), but this album is amazing. Some of these trackes (e.g. Pump me up) are perfect 'mechanical' funk dance tracks. The groove on it is just mind blowing, and the use of the sax is just incredible. It applies to many songs here (e.g. This is new love)

Does anyone have FLAC or WAV rips of these demos? I've only seen MP3 rips of them.

These choruses always make the tears well up in my eyes. Emotionally powerful stuff here. I'll love this band forever.

Has Numan ever written a song that isn't about himself? Perhaps we'll not mention that one he rewrote as a charity song for the RSPCA.

The Demons come out at Night

Always surprised Noise Noise wasn't remixed on this album, or even something from Warriors. So much of his music could have done with darker reworks

I started believing in Christ in 97, around the time Gary started to really lean into the atheism, so I avoided him for a while - just had way better things to think about. Coming back now, its great to hear what he was doing through those years. A master.

Where did the Strange Charm album go?

Numan needed to go to darker type of style and don t do the garbage pop stuff. Wonder eye, Dark mountain,The hauntings and Hanoi are amazing and should be like this until 1981.
