    What about the lower leagues boycotting the competition and getting an updated plan in place that benefits all clubs

    Well said Liam. It’s a shocking decision.

    It would make sense if 3rd / 4th round games with EPL clubs are set as the away side when playing League 1 or below clubs to make it interesting. From Round 5 onwards, back to normal via the draw.

    All Clubs from League 1 downwards should just boycott it by not filling out the entry forms and just let the FA Cup have 44 teams in it and see how the FA would like that!

    Unfortunately the Premier Division prima donnas need to be kept fit by their clubs, in order to be able to play in their multi-million pound friendlies on the other side of the world come July. You can't expect the little darlings to play in a Cup replay on a wet Wednesday in Stoke, when they've got a big money game to play in Riyadh five months later.

      they do have the EFL trophy which is league 1 and 2 clubs + a range of U21 sides from the premier league and championship so there is still a cup competition for lower league teams to win if part of the magic of the fa cup is being taken away

    It makes no difference. It’s simple the premier league has more money than the EFL. If you have more money you have the ability to break rules do what you like with no repercussions… it’s not going to change…

      @@mickeyvalentino84 look at Man City 115 allegations against them for breaking premier league rules, Sheffield Wednesday, Everton and Notts Forrest all had less they have been punished Man City havnt. FA Cup they discussed with t the premier league about these changes and not the EFL or lower leagues. There are over 700 clubs that play in the FA Cup why should they only take the advise of the top 20 oh I know they have more money and know the lower leagues cannot do anything about the decision… if you still believe it’s a fair game you need to wake up. Years ago it was but now it’s about money and nothing else. The Sky Sports Panel yesterday said exactly the same.

    How is this a bad idea? Replays are outdated and don't effect any teams if anything it helps premier league teams with the stuffed calendar and lower league team getting more upsets since its more probable to defeat a premier league team through penalties than a second game

    • @mattiles503
      @mattiles503 Před měsícem +5

      hear what you're saying. it's the financial repercussions that make it a bad idea for me. if a lower league club get a replay against any of the larger clubs - it can make a huge gain in getting money in - another payout on a sell out crowd at a fixture. To the big clubs, one fixture doesn't really matter - but for lower teams - a full house can make/break a season, both on and off the field. That money used to be distributed throughout the game when it was a sport. Now a business, the top teams get all the money. Anything else to them is an inconvenience.

      How many replays do the small teams get? We can't base this on things that happen probably 10% of the time. Scrap that nonsense

      @@mattiles503 Wouldn't the broadcasting rights earn a team more money than any attendance revenue could get? How about the EPL sides don't get any share of the broadcast revenue if they are playing against a League 1 side or lower?

      the financial repurcussions are the more important thing. I am a lincoln fan and liam talking about our cup run as a national league side and how much that did for us is so important. that run in the cup in 16/17 basically created what our club is today. we won the national league that same season and we went to the quarter finals of the fa cup, then we won league 2, then we lost in a league 1 play off final a couple years on, and now we are very close to playoffs again this season. the magic of the cup, the traditional fa cup, is what allows EFL clubs to progress and make extra financial gains so taking away those opportunities by removing replays is such a loss to everyone but the premier league clubs.
