Nice review. I just purchased the Compact as well, and I love it. I am a left handed shooter, haven't had those grip issues fortunately. Put around 500 rounds through it so far. No issues with multiple different ammos. I did change to the ZR Tactical 15# spring and stainless guide rod. Doesn't feel any snappier than anything else I have. Also I might add that after re-watch of your grip change, it appears to be exactly how I grip as well.
The snappy feeling is common with Walther pistols, due to their 18-lb recoil spring. You can reduce this snappy feeling by replacing the recoil spring with lower pound spring. Going with something like a ZR Tactical 15-lb spring should make a noticeable difference. For the Pro model, add a compensator and even less recoil. Some people then report a much improved nearly flat shooting pistol. I’m guessing the Pro Full-size 5.1 may be less snappy, especially with the recoil spring and Comp I mentioned. This is the route I plan to take since I carry OWB.
Glad to here about you changing your grip, I shoot a 2" group at 20 yds. and a 4" at 50. PDP's trigger is equal, or better than a 1911's. Best factory trigger I've ever had, and that includes S&W, SIG, Kimber, Springfield Arms, and many more. I carry 3 mags, you don't know what you might get into today....
Excellent review. Thank you. I have mine setup with a Holosun SCS PDP (no plate needed), Meprolite night sights, and a KAK mini comp with an Olight PL Turbo Valkyrie light. It feels better with some more weight added. Oh, I absolutely agree with you on the loaded chamber indicator not being easy to see and you can’t feel like a P38.
This video was just what I need, genuine honest review. I just picked up my PDP Pro SD Compact, and the optics plate is ordered. If you do decide to mount a Holosun 507c or 508t etc, I'd love to hear if you keep the standard sights on that. I am going to try it with just the standard sights, because I use it for home defense with a suppressor. Or shooting it at the range, optics don't do anything more than the sights do. Thank you for the awesome video.
Thank you. I haven't installed an optic yet. This handgun is so accurate because of the trigger, that I haven't really felt the need. It is now my edc and I'm loving it. I think if I go the the HS507 I would install new irons. But I've been considering as well the holosun scs, in which case I'd leave the factory sights. 😁👍
@@PreppingDad That might be the path I choose for this one too. My EDC has been a VP9, however, I do like the iron sights, I will see in time if I update it with an optic or leave it be. Thank you again, and good luck with the channel.
@@PreppingDad Additionally, for home defense I have a suppressor on it, so, an red dot optic won't be necessary since the suppressor is already so tall. At that distance if I missed with that large round suppressor, then I am a terrible shot.. lol
@@PreppingDadadded the SCS and TLR 7A on mine. Feels really good. Still working with it and getting used to it before making it my EDC!! Thinking about adding the Herrington Arms comp to mine. Awesome video and information 👍
You might of mentioned it in the beginning of the video but is this the compact? I own a regular pdp f series and i shot a full size at the range. My f series is very snappy. Not as much as a subcompact like a p365 or glock 43x but pretty snappy. The full size at the range felt great. I didn't think it was snappy at all shot it two different times and loved it both times. Way better than my f series. I definitely want to buy a full size pdp now.
It is the compact. But I just acquired the full size PDP pro. Shot it with a comp and didn't feel any different. So I took it off. Love both of them, and feel very confident about them.👍👊💥
No gas pedal. Holsters are already limited for this model😅 but I did get the Herrington arms comp. It ads a lot of size to it, so I decided to might as well get the full-size model, and I'll be putting it on that one... it's on layaway right now 😁👍
Your gun, is a compact bro.. I live in Florida, and carry my PDP pro all year, in shorts and a tee shirt , no problem. If it prints a little, so what...I've never had law enforcement give me a problem, and I've carried for 30 years. Had a guy make me in a store, employee manager, told me nice, wish I could carry here also. Buy a seriously comfortable holster, and you'll have no problems all year.....
I don't. I traded the mr920 in. Before the explosion I had already had issues with another one, dropping full mags because the mag release button got worn out inside. Too many little glitches for me.
Maybe you were gripping that weapon too tightly. I have no problems with mine. You might want to change your grip. The bottom of the grip is for your pinky to wrap around, controls the recoil. and will get you on target quicker....
Oh man, sorry about that. I've heard is either hit or miss regarding the Walther plates. I thought mine would take a long time, so I was surprised when it came.
We have all these guys nowadays using a thumbs forward grip. Nobody ever shot like that before about 2004/05 BTW. I started shooting in 1982 and have always used a form of the wedge hold. Massad Ayoob, Nutnfancy, Bruce Willis in the Die Hard movies and Lena Miculek (Jerry's daughter) are the only "famous" people I see these days that still shoot this way besides myself. Too many people learned wrong and then taught other people wrong. I can see where it all came from and trace it back to it's source. Long story short the manufacturers and engineers never designed handguns to be gripped this way. See that serrated notch on the front of the trigger guard? That was put there for a reason ya know.
My guy I’m not hating I watch lots of videos and yours sucks. It’s not hating just look how many followers you have and how many likes you get. Your Content Sucks.sad😢

Thank for the review. For some reason at first I thought you were the guy from Breaking Bad - in a good way :-)
Who? Heisenberg?😅
@@PreppingDad Younger version of Bryan Cranston aka "Walter White" :-)
Are you going to add a gas peddle for the left thumb? That and a compensator would be interesting to see the difference in recoil.

seems everyone has issues with the gun shooting low.. i had the same issue
Do you still have you shadow systems?
I don't. I traded the mr920 in. Before the explosion I had already had issues with another one, dropping full mags because the mag release button got worn out inside. Too many little glitches for me.
Is better cz and canik?
It won't be better than a cz shadow. And the Canik Trigger is a walther Trigger 👍😁
🤔 Sar9c - tp9 sc ?? Canik have better recoil?
Canik for sure has walther beat on recoil. Canik just keeps getting better and better

lucky you still waiting on my plate going on 5 weeks not feeling Walther for that

Call them, I got mine in a week. I confirmed with them, they said they had a small back log to get through through the holidays

A little printing, won't detour me from having a fair chance in a gun fight....
