    Got my pdp about a month after they hit shelves. Threw a 507c x2 on her and after 7k rounds the holosun is still going insanely strong. Only had to change its battery once so far. Right around the 4k round mark I purchased the Walther pdp upgraded trigger and threw the sprinco guide rod system with red spring and that's it. The barrel is still just as accurate as day one and honestly looks like it's only seen 1k rounds max. Whatever the hell they used for coating their metal is amazing. Still using the same extractor and same striker. The ONLY thing that's bad about the pdp is the full size, blue follower magazines. The mag springs lose proper strength WAYYYYYY before it's quoted life cycle and will immediately start causing failure to feeds. Luckily, there's a cheap fix that absolutely and so far indefinitely fixes the issue. There's a company called ghost Inc that make Walther pdp specific, stainless steel +10% strength magazine springs for very cheap price. I ended up replacing all 10 of my magazine springs with the ghost springs and have had zero issues ever since. I specifically use 4 of the 10 mags for competition and training and they've seen thousands of rounds and are somehow still just as strong.... The ONLY downside to these springs is that it turns the 18rd magazines into 17rd mags which I'm 100% cool with. Walthers design team shouldn't have went with 18rd magazines unless they were going to properly design the right size magazines. They wanted to stick out from the typical 17rd full size platform that so many other companies went with.

      Both my BCM & SOLGW AR's are fitted with unique optics that will still function flawlessly after an emp attack. They both are considered "prismatic" optics which use etched glass as a reticle that can then be easily seen nomatter the amount of daylight available. One of the optics is an acog which uses tritium vials to light up the etched reticle and the other is considered an LPVO which essentially is an optic that pretends to be a 1x red dot and 6x power scope all within one optical tube.

    • @TerminalM193
      @TerminalM193 Před 11 měsíci

      You don't ever want to cowitness an RDS on a pistol. It defeats the entire purpose of the rds. What you want are sights called BUIS or "Backup Iron Sights". These use what's called a "low witness" instead of a cowitness. I generally stick with a 1/6th or 1/7th low witness which means the irons will only take up a 6th or 7th of the optic windows body which gives you plenty of room for the rds reticle to sit without being impeded by the irons. The main benefit of using an RDS is that it's a singular point of aim unlike irons where you need to use 2, sometimes 3 points of aim before breaking a shot. When someone marries or "slaves" their rds to their iron sights it completely defeats the entire point of the rds completely. If you go with an RDS you want your irons as far out of the way as possible. They are only to be used in the most unlikely of scenarios as a backup system in case your red dot completely fails. With today's current technology of rds they are so rugged and reliable that they can ultimately be relied upon no matter the situation. I've been teaching pistol defense and fighting courses for almost 10 years and pistol rds courses for about 2 years now. I've yet to see a rds go down from any of my students so far, even with completely cracked and distorted glass.

    I don’t get this claim of the 20,000 hour battery. What does that mean? That when it’s fully charged you can put it in a dark room and it will stay on for 20,000 hours? That’s not true because people have said that it has gone dead in about 48 hours. Of course it recharges quickly but 48 hours is a far cry from 20,000 hours. Does it mean that when it’s fully charged you can turn it off and it will hold its charge for 20,000 hours? Well, in the owners manual it says it can go for 200.000 hours. Does it mean the battery inside will completely die after only 20,000 hours of use? Because you can’t replace the battery that means you would have to send the optic back into Holosun to have them put in a new one. And 20,000 hours is just a little over two years. So that means the optic will only last you for two years before you have to send it in to get a new battery? It seems like the claims Holosun are making are all over the map. The truth is, it’s a new product and we won’t know how long it will actually last until time goes by. It almost seems like they are pulling a Sig Sauer and releasing something and doing all the beta testing on consumers. That’s not cool at all.

    • @freedomgorilla1
      @freedomgorilla1  Před rokem +1

      The 20,000 is the reserve of the battery. It’s saying that it’s full charge the battery will last 20,000 in a dark room until it is charged back up again. It’s how much the battery can hold. For people saying it died, it could have also not been charged up.

I like that it doesn’t need a plate for my PDP 2.0 cut. That should make it much more sturdy of a fit rather than using a plate. I actually really like the concept. As an old dog, learning a “new trick” (going to an optic) can be met with resistance. But with my 58 year old weakening eye sight, it seemed now would be the time. I AM a bit of an old curmudgeon so when something “new” comes out, I am hesitant. But I found out how wrong I was with that when I was unwilling to stray away from Glocks. Then I got my Walther. All my Glocks have spent more time in the safe since I got the PDP. Love that damn gun! 👍🏻

    Bought the SCS PDP... Looks great on the gun but that is where it ends... The Button is Horrible and Makes This A HUGE FAIL!
    My wife and I both tried to turn it on and it was not easy to do. We thought it was bad out of the box and took many tries to turn it on. We finally got it, but it took the edge of the finger and fingernail, which is eventually going to split the rubber cover over the button.
    The button is too flush mounted against the frame and it does not work with a normal press of the button like on many other sights.
    There are only 2 settings for brightness and you have to use the same button to change those settings.
    NO SHAKE AWAKE! The only way to turn it on is with that button.
    The button makes this Red Dot Sight a HUGE FAIL. If you were in a situation where you needed to draw your weapon, by the time you got it turned on you would have lost the battle.
    Thank you Amazon returns!!
    Great Video! Thank you for the information.

      These are confusing to understand. They are intended to remain on. You make sense about the button and no shake awake. But the manufacturer says to basically turn it on and keep it on. Even when it’s sitting. It will recharge all on its own so shake awake or battery conservation isn’t needed

      The SCS was designed to be left on all the time, instead of the shake awake. As long as you expose it to the sun occasionally it will keep the battery charged.

    The SCS makes all other optics for Walther PDP obsolete.

    • @Mosamania
      @Mosamania Před 8 měsíci +1

      Until the optic itself becomes obsolete when the internal battery eventually dies and can hardly hold a charge.
      Don't get me wrong, I own one myself for my M&P 2.0, but I also own a battery powered one since those ones will go for as long as you have batteries to run them and they don't break catastrophically.
      And the way things are going, the luxuries of being able to even own a red dot is under threat, so having one that can go with just buying a battery for a very long time as a fail safe is a must to keep on the side.

    Walther's plate system is very poorly designed, so its really great Holosun decided to eliminate that. Great Job on Holosun's part making this a much stronger lock to the slide. Very nice job, making the PDP a viable red dot pistol, finally, in my opinion. If you doubt this, just search, there are videos explaining why Walther's plate has such a poor design. This mechanical engineer explins it well Here : czcams.com/video/2cJRb8GodJ8/video.html

      The dot reduces to the lowest setting when under clothes or when it's really dark in a bag, etc. In reality, auto adjust is almost always better since shake-awake makes the dot always turn on when you're concealed carrying. You're always moving and fidgeting which keeps it on all the time. Even if you keep it in your truck safe, it turns on when you're moving and braking, draining the power with a constant setting dot.

      @Shadow__133 in the weekend, just leave it out in the sun for 20 minutes once a month while you touch grass, or open carry around the house when you're doing outside chores. Set a 20 minute alarm. It's really no big deal. Light shines through the window? Find a spot, this is a nonissue.

    • @Shadow__133
      @Shadow__133 Před 2 měsíci +1

      @@enterprisecrypto2683 Yeah, over the past month, I've educated myself a bit better and finally decided to purchase one. Their claims align with what you mentioned: a few minutes of sunshine here and there should suffice to keep it running indefinitely, unless you're constantly overriding it to full brightness. I hadn't considered the fact that it automatically dims itself to an almost-off state when concealed or in other lights-off scenarios. So far, it's been an awesome sight, and I'm thoroughly enjoying it.
      But since I was born to complain, I do wish it came with a lower brightness override as well. Would be useful while practicing.
