    I have a never used Fenwick Eagle Graphite Fly Rod with original never used fly fishing reel. From the 70's I believe. It was my dad's and I never had the heart to use it. It still has the original fly line that came with it. It's to beautiful to use in my opinion.

      I have some outfits like that with sentimental value. My strategy is to take them out once, catch a fish (hopefully) then put them away where I can see and admire them. Thanks for the comment!

    About 15+ years ago a help a lady from our church pack and move. She gave me all her husband’s old fishing lures.
    Several have boxes and paperwork.
    Heddon, Wood’s, Rebel, Rabble Rouser and Rapala.
    Thanks for your video and I will try to research their values.

    Good advice. Following retirement, I sold my limited collection of old lures on eBay. Most fetched $5. Some fetched more. It was a good experience earning several hundred bucks and teaching me both the vintage fishing lure business and marketing on eBay.

    Hello sir, thank you for this video it gave me some info on collector value of different plugs. I am an elderly fisherman that started fishing in the late 50's, 60's, and into the 70's before age caught up with me, and it became a real chore getting a boat into the water from the trailer by myself. I managed to keep most of my tackle from those wonderful days, and have still got a lot of Heddons, Creek Chub, South Bend, Lazy Ikes, and flatfish baits that I fished with. This was in the days before bass fishing became such a sport as it is today. Back then, there was not a whole lot of lure collecting going on and keeping the box the baits came in was not as important as it is today. I just wished that I had kept some of the boxes those lures came in. One of several favorite baits I used with great enthusiasm was the Lazy Ike.The #4 Lazy Ike in frog pattern was a real "killer-go-getter-for-me", and many of the fish I caught in fresh water was with this bait. The #4 was the next to largest Lazy Ike Model produced and I always kept several to use. I lost too damn many great legendary baits to log and rock fish than I care to remember. The Lazy Ike was originally made of wood and along in the early 60's I started having a hard time finding wood Ikes. The plastic Ikes that replaced the wood models did not give me that "great" tight wobble the wood Ike produced. So most of the many Ikes I still retain were wood models because of the action reason. I used a 12lb test line on an Ambassador 5000 Reelwith a semi-stiff fiber-glass rod. The reason I used the 12, instead of a heavier test line, was to maximize my casting skills, as modest it was. But putting that bait, casting from the boat to the bank, in the precise area you want is vital to having a good day catching fish. I wish I could truthfully say that I filled the boat up with a load of heavy bucket-mouths, using "old reliable",but I'd be lying like hell. But a frog pattern Number 4 Lazy Ike in frog pattern (WOOD MODEL), develop a long time friendship. I fished other plugs also, the Heddon Vamp (perch pattern), Creek Chub Wiggle Fish and Lil Pikie, Jitterbug, Hula Popper, and River Runt just off the top of my old head. But anyway, thanks for this great video. I got a feeling that mold dark pattern Heddon Game Fisher (triple jointed) may be worth a little to someone who appreciated great lure craftsmanship. The kind not seen anymore! Thank you sir!

    My father had been collecting fishing lures for over 70 years. I actually have his first wooden float from when he was a kid. He passed away two years ago leaving me a collection of thousands of old lures. Pretty cool collection. What would be my best way of getting a true value of a collection like this? Not sure if I would ever sell any of it, but I would love to be able to identify and put a value on them.

    Hello
    Thanks for the tips!
    I was wondering how you can tell what KIND of Maker they are since the lures have no writing on them. How would you know that it's one of the more 'collectable' ones?
    Thanks!

    • @ShawnKimbro
      @ShawnKimbro  Před 4 měsíci +1

      It's tough if you have no idea. Most lure makers have some distinct identifiable characteristics but you still need a starting place like a collectible fishing lures book. Fishing Lures Collectibles is dated but good for overall identification. Once you get an ID, check eBay sold listings to get an idea of value.

  • @getoffyoubassandletsfish8565

    1:44 is that a vintage Cicada lure? DORNS fishing has similar when I was a kid but don’t seem to make em anymore. My dad and I use to buy them about about 30 years ago. They looked different I bet this one beats those by a few decades!
