  • 490hp, small, very pretty: is that enough to make the fastest F-Type a 911 rival? And would an Aston do the job of a Brit roadster better? This video might expand on some of these points.

      +Angel Briones no the jag can't be the perfect sports car, yes it looks amazing, but it will get old and as chris said the porsche is lighter so it has the best power to weight ratio, but not only that, it is also the most efficient engine being a naturally aspirated 6 cylinder, and being as rigid as a coupe, so no there is no way it can be better than a 911, besides the 911 having that iconic design it will always look great, yeah the jag might be very fast, but it needs a supercharger and 8 cylinders too barely match the 911, and remember that there are faster 911

    Mr. Harris is simply brilliant. Listening to his color commentary while pushing interesting cars through their paces is a joy. As owner of a 997S Cab, and some truly fast mid-engined cars, I still struggle to hear Chris say what makes the Porsche so special. And it is so very special. That light front end that speaks of every pebble while skidding across the surface, perfect controls, a liquid engine that spins up just right. It is so far beyond what the two Brit cars offer. In a class of one.

    Has anyone who's commenting here driven all these cars? I have and out of all of them I am going to buy the Aston and here are my reasons.
    The Jag feels like an A3 to drive with more power.... it just doesn't feel special. The interior looks good from a far but fills cheap when your in it. The sound is artificial and louder then is goes.
    The Porsche is a great car, but again feels muted to drive, it's losing that sports car fill as it's becoming more refined. It handles fantastically but just doesn't feel special.
    The Aston is hard to describe. The best way I can describe it is that when you get a custom suit made, it's the imperfection that make it special and that is what the Aston feels like to drive...... It has character. It's also well powered for British roads (you can use it closer to it full potential), it feels special to drive, it look amazing and the sound is just epic V8!

    • @suppaman19
      @suppaman19 Před 3 lety +1

      Bullshit. I've driven and the V8 F-Type is faster than the Aston both in actuality and in feel. The Porsche is the most taut and feels more precise and just well done. The Jag is more raw, and that is part of its charm. So it's more what you want out of your car between those two.
      The Vantage is good considering it's age, and the materials are largely good, but it lacks in features compared to a F-Type or 911, is the slowest, and has a very old cabin design that 's out of the early 2000s. I also hate the Vantage steering wheel.
      That's not to say it's a terrible car. But in 2014, it was left in the dust by cheaper cars. There's a reason it eventually got scrapped and then entirely redesigned which was long overdue, though I don't like the exterior of the new Vantage all.

    • @JimboJet737
      @JimboJet737 Před měsícem

      I echo your sentiment, the Aston has a physical weight to it that the Jag doesn’t and by that I mean both in driving and in the cabin. I imagine the Jag will creak and rattle after a few years and the Aston will probably too but with a less irritating pitch of rattle. There are signs in the Jag cabin that it’s been built to a cost (the glovebox is light and flimsy), that’s not so readily apparent in the Vantage.
      I think the Jag compromises itself - the V8 is ofc headline material and no doubt a great car but it’s not really the best of all Worlds and the V6 is a V8 with two inactive cylinders, a very lazy design choice. The V4 is not quite powerful enough and doesn’t give the soundtrack. So then back to the V6, except they’ve discontinued it!!! 😢
      The Aston has its own character, is a timeless classic and gives the driver a bucket load of good feels from the exhaust note yet is still refined when you stay under 4000rpm. The Aston is also my choice here. The Porsche is a victim of its own success, for me the cabin feels too narrow and it’s a more sports car like ride which whilst great on the track, isn’t the most ideal for the road.

I mean, where on earth would you be able to push cars such as these to their apsoulte limts, and say:"Yeah the Porsche is faster". ??? The F type, looks and sounds better, and while it isn't as fast, it is fast enough. The 911 is kind of dull on the outside, and downright ugly inside. But to me, a car needs to have it all, the looks, the sound and to be fast at the same time. And the F-type does all that for me. Maybe it's because I'm younger - I don't know, but the 911 is just not that desirable to me.

      osamaFXX You shouldn't even say that, you're making yourself look stupid. When it was made shouldn't matter. Don't you think one of the older Ferrari's would take out all of these? It's obvious depending on the car the year won't matter in a comparison.

    F-Type all the way!! It is the best looking, the most powerful, the fastest, the loudest, smooth, wild, raw, beautiful, refined, of fuck it it's a bloody MONSTER! P.S. the 1st thing: 911 is much lighter cuz it has B6 Boxter instead of big V8, 2nd thing: the interior of 911 is not that appealing as those in Jag and Aston which is a bloody fail, if u wanna spend over 100k for a luxury sports car, u gonna want the full package.. 3rd thing: I always hated Porsches's sound, it feels kinda dull.

    I much prefer F-type V6S rather than V8. V8 got much more power and sounds like a beast. but, it's much more loud.(I don't like loud cars, you know. it's like saying 'I'm a king of this road!! looooook at me!!!') V6 version got proper sound too. and it's not that loud as well as v8 version does. and evenly, it has manual gearbox which v8 doesn't. I think V8 version is a bit too much.

      Dear God what could be making that noise? lol. Perhaps he ran something over. I'm bugged by Chris referring to the Aston as" cute" . Sure an Aston isn't usually the best hard core performance car but it's hard to argue their looks. The Vantage is one of the most beautiful cars ever built. Don't think the word" cute" really works on the Vantage as it would on an original Miata. Still Chris is one of my favorite presenters.

    Do people really think these things when they see a 911 on the road? Boring and involving? Seeing either of these three cars would be a treat on its own in my mind. To criticize these cars is simply shocking. What is mainstream is a honda civic or hyundai elantra not a Porsche, Aston or Jaguar.

    • @67ES335
      @67ES335 Před 9 lety +1

      Jeff The Killer I traded my XKRS in for the R Coupe. No comparison between the two. The XKRS is way over powered for it's chassis. The R Coupe is a much better balanced and modern car. The XKRS is an over the top hot rodded XK that is a truly dangerous car! Although the track times are similar only a pro driver could get that much out of the XKRS. I loved the car but as soon as I drove the R Coupe I wanted to throw it around and play with it. Not so with the XKRS. I was always carful with it. Ya I did some power slides in it but was always aware that it could take my head off with the first mistake.

  • @samhunt9308
    @samhunt9308 Před 8 lety +3

    The only problem with this video is that you tried to drive the F-Type like the lower torque sports cars you were comparing them to, you looked like you were in a drifting contest. Americans learned years ago that you drive a high torque heavy car with an educated right foot, otherwise spinning tires don't give you forward momentum.

    • @noobymcnoobs
      @noobymcnoobs Před 8 lety +2

      I love the fact that you think only Americans learned how to drive properly. There is such a long list of famous and successful American rally/touring car/F1 drivers to back that up.
      The reason Chris slides the back end around is because that looks interesting on video and it gets more CZcams subscribers than driving smoothly despite driving smoothly obviously being faster.
      If you watch one of the videos of Chris actually in a race it is clear he can drive the lines properly keeping the car under control with just the right amount of slip angle.

    • @samhunt9308
      @samhunt9308 Před 8 lety +1

      +andrew warner If it's a comparison test then why didn't he use his skills to drive each car to it's capability instead of showing off? rally, touring and F1 are not popular in the US. Because of our roads we like big heavy high horse power cars, which don't do well on European roads.
