- After Slovakia opened up their 2024 IIHF World Juniors with an utter steamrolling over last year's runner-ups... a video was in order. Whether it was Adam Gajan's solid goaltending, Filip Mesar's high-pace play, or Servac Petrovsky's goal scoring prowess... there's a lot to cover in tonight's video.

great video, coming from someone not Slovak it's really rare for people to talk about our hockey. really happy you noticed Sykora, even though he is not top scorer, he is always putting his hearth and soul on the ice, always skating for (almost) lost pucks, which not many people notice, but if you do, it just shows how much he wants to provide for the team. Gajan showed how great he is last year, goaltending with fever again Canada, and if we will be fortunate enough that he will be fit this WC, I believe once he will get comfortable enough, he might be really unstoppable in the goal. also one thing I kinda disagree, Switzerland is not "worse" team than Czechia in my opionion. they are really good on the puck and strong physically. we won, but it was again real hard battle. but anyway, thanks for covering our hockey, I as Slovakian really do appreciate that 🤙

i was at their quarterfinal game last year and i spent the full 15-minute intermission before overtime in the brace position in my seat. i’m not surprised to see them doing so well in group play this year, especially with gajan returning
Against Czechs it wasnt Coach in the locker who woke them up. Our captain Adam Sykora said something from the heart. We have a real captain material.
2 games 6 points 9:2 … Even as a optimistic person I didnt expect such start to the tournament 😅😂 And I see Gajan is getting better by every save he makes 😅

I just watched your video of Slafkovsky. I was so impressed but something hit me in my mind. What if Canada faced Slovakia with both Bedard and Slafkovsky on the team. It would be an amazing battle!
I'm afraid we'd have to wait for some Olympics to see that...if NHL would stop for that period (but probably won't happen as money will win over supporters...)

Slovakia was quite comoetitive before too. We are not filling any void for Russia. We are filling our own void to satisfy our own goals and not Russia’s
after 1st it was probably mainly captain Sykora who talked to the boys, as he said it in slovak interview that he has to lead with example and has to talk some speach because we have to play better
I think I can vouch for everyone… if there already wasn’t a reason to like Sykora even more
Slovakia has had a massive turnaround in their development system. They went from having basically no players in the NHL 5 years ago, to having two players taken first and second in the draft in 2022.
Well, today the US stopped us pretty hard 😅

Good closing line... Good Observations... Good Video... Seems like Slovaks are everybody's Dark Horse this year... Likely gonna need to take down Suomi in quarter finals... Still underdogs vs a genuine, Top Tier WJC Team ... But doable, since Finns didn't do much, 5 on 5 vs a Canadian team thin on D, and lacking the star power of previous years...
Finland looses to germany... So the germany will likely be third in the group and slovakia will go against germans... But nothing is that easily predictable... Slovakia can beat usa, finland can beat sweeden, etc... If we (slovakia) want a medal, we need to be tough oponent for every team in the championship, no excuses, no calculations...

@FaceoffWithFarenholtz Work a little on pronunciation, u probably plan more vids on this so, here is some help with tough one like: Radivojevic - it's not "k" at the end it's actually "č". And soft "d", I can't really help as it's spelled as "ď and that doesn't have equivalent in English, maybe you can look it up somewhere as there was Branko Radivojevič in nhl. But if you said it like "dee" eventually it would almost Ru(n)-dee-voye-witch. Šatan is Shatan. Štrbák is like Shtr-buck. Make "u" longer like baaack. Mesar is actually Mešár, read like Mashaaar, Petrovický, read like Patrovitskie. Petrovský is like Patrovskie. Similar Dvorský like Dvorskie, that's like Th(e)-war-skiee. Gajan is like Gu(n)-Ya(hoo)-n. Ivan Feneš spells like Fanash like fa(ke)-Nash. Repčík spells as Rap-chick. Žabka is Zhabcka. Hope this helps and have a nice day.

Also as a non-Slovak speaker, those accents and pronunciations are a little tough a times. Gotta switch up the way I read names when I read a Slovak name! I believe the only one I know how to nail down is Sykora 😂

USA’s roster was heavily favoured in this contest. Their team is entirely high end NCAA prospects aside from Hayes (who got ejected may I remind you).
That team will not make mistakes when the opportunity arises. The fact that Slovakia put up the fight that they did throughout the first and majority of the second still shows what this team is all about. Sure their defence crumbled in the final 25-minutes or so of this contest, but goaltending was a factor.
They also ran into a scorching hot Augustine in the second, that was some phenomenal work from the Red Wings prospect.
I’m still elated over this team. Tough way to close the round robin, but this squad can still easily contend for some hardware. I’m excited to see how they bounce back from this
WTF...Czechia does not exist. It's an artificial name. They are Czech republics. As the only country in the world, they cannot call themselves a republic without the ending. Czechia never existed as a name.
