You could’ve taken air conditioned bus 515 from Victory Monument BTS. This bus goes straight to Salaya and stops right front of Mahidol, the fare is like 25 baht and it come about every 10 minutes, more during rush hours.

That's my uni for a year before I left it for USYD in Australia :D
I used to travel 60km every day to uni since my mom didn't allow me to stay at dorm. That was a real pain, I had to travel from the center of BKK to Salaya for my 8 am classes every day and turned back after 6 pm. It's 60km in total plus Bangkok traffic T-T.
I was there at EG (Engineering) and decided to leave after a year. The campus was nice and filled with tons of memories. My older sister graduated vet and my Lilly also graduated from the College of Music from there. There's an international college which is good if anyone is interested.
Ps. that straith road at 10:06 was an EG' students test track for our competition car club named 'AutoTech'.

Mahidol Salaya ? Cheapest and easiest way to get there from middle of bangkok is take BTS to Victory Monument and take bus no.515, it's an air conditioner bus 😅 i never study there but my ex was, so i have been there often 😂 i really love the vibe of that university, so chill so nerdy vibe so clean and so wide

I think In the past Mahidol university had Medicine, Nurse or other faculty related to health care that major located at Siriraj hospital or Ramatibodi Hospital in downtown. When Mahidol expand more faculty such Engineer, musics, secondary school. They have to find new more land for it. Salaya was meet Mahidol requirement. They are able to build new style building, road, garden or jungle, landscape and facility that they want.

I went there sometimes espeically going for classical music. I took the BTS train to the last station at Bangwa. There is a bus from Salaya to pick up to Salaya but this is only in saturday when there is concert.

Many of MU's students studied at Salaya campus only freshman year. The main campus of science and medical faculties are not there. Only some faculties are located there such as MUIC, MS(Music school), EG(Engineer), EN(Environment) and the other faculties in art and social science. We only live with friends from every faculty only ONE year at Salaya Campus so that it's a one of the funniest years of our life. After that we will move to our faculty campus that have more academic atmosphere and study more intensive.
It is nice that you changed your mind and took taxi instead. It is also nice that the first place you visited is MUIC! Very sorry that you fell down the water. 😞

or get of blue train the next 2 station you will see other rail way station which train always stop there, this on is only occasion train stop here

I am sorry with your falling into the water ditch full of water fern. It just dawns on me that I, and probably most Thais as well, might’ve fallen into one of these water fern filled canals before in our lives, when we were kids, so we have learned to recognize and avoid them when we are grown up. Perhaps it was analogous to my first time driving in the snow in the US years ago that my car slided and hit the curb and blew up a tire. As to your travels to Salaya, it would be much cheaper to use a bus from Victory monument. Have fun looking around Thailand.

Mahidol may be the University located in the most West of the Bangkok (Silpakorn is further west to Nakhon Pathom). Thammasart is also has the far North of the Bangkok.

Hi Joyce, I like your channel. I am Thai-US living in US with my family you about my daughter . Pretty much understand your feeling. If you have a group of Thai girl friends that can get along with. It will help you easy to explore Thailand and more content. I glad that you dress appropriately when you go to University campus. In Thailand, it is a mix of Japan, Chinese and India attitude. They all are shined not speak out but think a lot in their heads. If you want to know the truth of what they want or you want to know about you. It’s not by speaking! It’s by your behavior. You not known by listening or by your speaking! It’s your dress and things all around. One day you might need more contents in life in office, student life, business life, their temple church custom culture it’s another world from tourist contents and that come from real social life. Good luck and great job in your video. Oh, since you not look like Farang, they think that you are Thai that might experience different than other tourist and good Thai women.

My university! I already graduated but really want to go back. 4 years here had been amazing for me.
Interesting to see a foreigner visiting a random university. While, well, yes, Mahidol is up there top 3 most prestigious unis in the country, I've never seen a tourist visiting it out of curiosity. Generally, private schools/unis are more luxurious. But public ones are ranked higher academically. Most students don't go to the uni if they don't have class and they will leave as soon as their classes are finished. So the uni can look a bit empty sometimes. Anyway, I find your little adventures interesting. Keep it up.
I recommend visiting MOCA, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Thailand. It is located at the intersection of the Red Line electric train station and Kasetsart University, Bang Khen. The entrance fee is 250 baht, and you can bring your camera to take photos and videos. Before you visit, it's a good idea to do some homework on the artworks of these three artists: 1. Ajarn Silp Pirasri, 2. Dr. Thawal Datchanee, 3. Ajarn Chaloemchai Khositphiphat.

That water filled ditch is insanely dangerous. A child or shorter adult could easily drown.
While Bus No. 515 could reach Mahidol University as well as riding suburban trains from Charansanitwongse Halt (Interchange with bang Khun Nont station of Blue ring MRT), i still wish that the extension of red line commuter to Salaya and Siriraj which will be implemented once they got the contractors to handle the project and become a reality
Hi joyce next month you should visit chiang mai university and you must come at 17-18 november because in 18 november chiang mai university has big event of the year it call "Cmu trekking 2023" you won't miss it
It seems a common thing that foreigners fall down holes in the pavement and such in Thailand. Its almost like we are accustomed to our nanny home countries where everything is super safe and you could sue the local government, etc. Sorry Joyce had a bad day; good that you found someone to lend you some clothes! Isn't it half term at the moment? All the kids in the Thai village where I live are around causing mayhem letting off firecrackers all day!

I'm sorry about your misfortune falling into the water. Please beware that the water in the ditches can be very dirty and contain bacteria that makes you sick. Many years ago a Thai pop star crashed his car into one of those ditches and fell into coma due to bacteria infection from the dirty water. Hope you didn't get sick!
