Roy Clark was a great entertainer, humble man & super talented. He was both a singer & musician. His guitar & banjo playing are legendary. A lot of musicians & artists today could learn a lot from his style & technique. Glen Campbell & Jerry Reed were also underrated guitarists. But these men paved the way for a lot of musicians today.
Roy Clark could play any string instrument ever created super talented and a very humble man.
Roy Clark was a master of string instruments, fiddle, banjo, guitar and mandolin. Member of the Country Music Hall of Fame and hosted a country music variety show called Hee Haw for about 20 years. This song was written and first preformed by Johnny Cash, and they preformed it together a couple of times. Watch him and Buck Trent doing Dueling Banjos. Glad you enjoyed it great reaction
Roy was so nervous when he first started performing that he worked comedy into it just to make it through. His style worked so well that he continued doing it throughout his entire career. He is hands down one of the greatest players ever and could play almost any stringed instrument.
Congratulations everybody! You've now found the greatest guitar player of all time.
Pull up a video of Roy doing "Malaguena" for a look at serious guitar music from him, and the crazy good talent he had.
Roy Clark - Malaguena (The Odd Couple)
There wasn't a String Instrument that he couldn't play. And he always wanted to be a Comedian and it comes out in this video. He was extremely talented and my Dad loved his playing style with humor. But he can get down when he's serious..
Your total honest reaction is everything every artist would hope for and we thank you.
Your friend was fun to watch, I will surely go over to his channel and subscribe! I was so glad to see you reacting to Roy Clark, he's a beast with any stringed instrument! Great reaction fellas!
I had the absolute pleasure of meeting Roy Clark around 40 years ago after a private performance near Phoenix, Az. If I've met a kinder, more humble, more talented man I can't recall their name. He absolutely blew me away. Y'all are so young and don't really have the years of music behind you to really understand how amazing Roy's performances were. A blend of outstanding musicianship, comedy, talent and a true desire to entertain everyone in his audience, there were not/are not many of his caliber. If you want to be impressed with his playing watch his performance of Malaguena on the Odd Couple. mind blowing. He was a master of anything with strings.
Johnny Cash and Roy were good friends and when Roy asked if he could play with the song, Johnny was all for it. When Roy seems to be talking to the band leader, the name is of JOHNNY CASH'S band leader ( who isn't there ). Now you should hear Johnny playing Folsom Prison Blues for real.
Check out Roy Clark's, "12th Street Rag", if you want to see amazing guitar playing.
Roy Clark was absolutely one of the greatest guitar players who ever lived.
A camp cover of Jonny Cash's huge hit of the same name JC recorded @ Folsom Prison w/the inmates. & A standard cover for any country cowboy. Roy Clark took it to a whole new level, Singing, comedic timing & mastery of guitar, all at the same time. Damn! & I haven't even mentioned "Dueling Banjoes" Roy Clark on banjo & "Orange Blossom Special" Roy Clark on fiddle yet. After his shows he sat on the edge of the stage & talked to the people, answered questions. Humble man & one of a kind. We loved him so.
Roy Clark is Universal Treasure
Roy Clark such a sweetheart and a brilliant musician. Those days we had tons of variety shows ,mixing humor music was common. He is a brilliant guitarist
Roy Clark was the Man !!
Roy Clark was so good, he would make it look like he was making mistakes, but he was complete control the entire time. Stunning skills and amazingly humble about how good he really was.
3:47 The lyric is "I shot a man in Reno..." Reno, Nevada.
He could play anything and had an amazing voice. He was a great performer.
He's doing Johnny Cash. He's also from a show called Hee Haw. Very talented man. He won fastest guitarist several years in a row. Check out more from Roy.😂
Love to see someone who is being introduced to Roy Clark!! This was a cover from a Johnny Cash song.. But nobody does it like Roy Clark. If you want to see some absolutely amazing guitar playing, Check out his rendition of Malaguenia!! I have watched it dozens of time and it leaves me speechless every time I see it!!! He does things that don't seem possible . I just subscribed so I can see your face when you hear him get serious about playing!!!
Roy Clark was great at comedy, and as a musician, he was fantastic! Guitar, banjo, and violin to name a few. I read somewhere that if the instruments had strings, Roy could play them. As a subscriber, may I suggest Dueling Banjos. There's comedy, but great banjo playing.
Roy Clark and Charlie Daniels are Masters of ALL string instruments.
You boys missed an unbelievable era, so grateful for technology that so many can experience what so many of us grew up with. Roy Clark was a classic , you ve just experienced the tip of an iceberg!
Fun watching u guys having fun
Yes its actually from guitar roy is legend
Look at Roy Clark Malaguena { Use the Odd Couple show} for showing his great Picking he was concidered the fastest play ever Played.
Orange blossom special with the kid jimmy!! You will never believe what youre hearing and seeing!
May I suggest Bluegrass Diamonds in Cajun, that will make you smile.
Your other commenters have added great information about him. He was wonderful! Two suggestions: listen to Johnny Cash sings this song “straight“ then you’ll really get what Roy was doing to get laughs, while still playing the song!
Also, watch and listen to Roy play “malaguena”. There are multiple clips on CZcams, but then you’ll get to see when he gets serious how great he really was!
Guys, please search out his work, he is a genius
Now can you do Roy Clark Malaguena
Roy can play anything with a string
The song is actually a Johnny Cash song if you want to do Folsom prison and really know what it's about do Johnny Cash Folsom prison❤❤❤❤❤
Roy Clark was a master guitar player along with the fiddle and mandolin, he was acting like he was a bumbling idiot, but it's just an act. The song was originally done by Johnny Cash, and Roy was impersonating him in his style of singing. Roy had a lot of comedy in his shows, and it hid just how talented a musician he really was.
This is a cover of a Johnny Cash song. The lyrics are not the joke, it's Roy's comedy that he accompanies his playing that's supposed to be funny. If you would like him to play serious guitar, please react to him playing Malaguena. It's incredible.
If you think this sounded just like a Johnny Cash performance, I'd like some of what you're drinking. This is not a cover! It's a rearrangement of Johnny's song.
@@darrinlindsey No kidding
In this video, Roy Clark is trying to act kind of “dumb”. I’ve seen some reactors be confused at first, thinking he didn’t know what he was doing.
As you explore the music and humor of Roy Clark, don't overlook his ability across genre's and instruments. He once performed with a national philharmonic orchestra. He played and performed on Hee Haw. I'm not sure which is the greater honor. From a serious banjo or violin, to a whimsical mandolin or guitar, Roy could deliver something beyond belief. Is he the best guitarist ever? I just wrote a comment on Stevie Ray Vaughn - Texas Flood. Different but great. SRV was a master. Roy was a master. Who is best? It might depend on who I heard last.
Great entertaining!
Great reaction
Check out Hee Haw. Country comedy and Roy Clark plays on this show frequently and is 1 host.
This was a Johnny Cash song. He is putting a comedic spin on it. He is imitating Johnny Cash and even switching the lyrics around to make them funnier. He keeps calling on Luther to play. Luther was Johnny's guitarist. The whole thing is a goof, but Roy is actually a Master at the guitar. Please check out so more of Roy's videos. He is one of the greatest guitarists in the history of Country Music.
Love hearing Johnny laugh in the audience
He plays all kinds of string instruments
If you want to hear Roy get a little more serious on the guitar try Malaguena here is a good link czcams.com/video/-xssnp7R51A/video.html
Guys this is a Johnny Cash song.
Supposedly when Eddie Van Halen was asked by a fan "what's it like to be the greatest guitar player in the world" his reply was, "I don't know, ask Roy Clark" 🤣🤣🤣
These guys clearly have no idea who Johnny Cash was. How iconic this song was for Cash. Nor the fact that Roy is doing an impression of Johnny Cash’s voice. So they’re missing a lot.
It's Roy Clark man
He was a clown. And a humble man who could do magic with guitars, banjos, fiddles, and other stringed instruments.
1) This version is an odd introduction to Folsom Prison Blues.
2) The notion that people were serious back then ?!?!?. Check out June Carter's Swallerin' Place for one counter example.
Stevie ray Vaughn please look into this
Hes had too much to drink! Lol
It's actually a serious song. You should hear Johnny Cash do it, too.
Quite a sassy Black Man
Johnny Cash wrote the song and neither one of them killed anyone.
😂 luv it watching these reactions
Folsom Prison is a Johnny Cash song
Do a reaction on Victor Borge.
