      No you all don’t. Your salvation depends on you and your works and not on the perfect and complete sacrifice of Jesus Christ -which is the ONLY perfect sacrifice.
      Also, you all repeat the sacrifice over and over every Sunday, thousands of times throughout the world. The atonement was done ONCE and is FINISHED according to the written word of God.

      @mrslisabaird I'm a little confused on this idea. I assume this a is a Faith vs works argument.
      Is it your belief that I could be saved or baptized in my youth but later kill someone and still go to heaven?
      It's my assumption that a lesser or menial would not doom me to an eternal hell, like accidentally shoplifting, or telling white lies. But there is some line as a cutoff that implies by your actions that you've turned away from christ.

      The Church is a constant changing body that needs constant reforming, time does not prove anything, it simply proves that rulers could use a faith to control and lead nations for many years, you simply refuse to accept a reform because you love tradition and history more than the Bible and God. The Roman Church had many great people, who are surely saved, but the reformation strived to make the church closer to God, not make a whole different thing. Your issue is that instead of accepting the reformation was to take attention and power of governments, traditions, people, and objects and put it to Christ, you choose to say that we have made a whole different thing altogether. I'm trying to say that the protestant church is not a 1500-2000-year newer church, but a revision to bring us back to what it truly was.

      You also don't seem to understand the reformation either. Because: my first point. The Catholic church was created hundreds of years after Jesus left.they were already infiltrated by Satan and the great schism happened when they separated into Catholics and Orthodox.
      Both of these religions openly exercise idolatry since the beginning because they never rebuked paganism, they (Constantine) simply called themselves christians.

    I wasn’t sure Catholics actually believed this until I was watching Catholic Answers a few years back. The caller said he was worried that he might end up committing a mortal sin in the future, and was afraid if he didn’t get to a Catholic priest in time to have the sin forgiven (aka being hit by a car shortly after committing the sin), he would lose his salvation and go to hell even though he lived a faithful Christian life. Catholic Answers spent 5 minutes trying to come up with a response which finally boiled down to, yes, if you commit a mortal sin (which includes idolatry, tempting God, using God’s name in vain, not going to mass on Sundays, ingratitude, infulfillment of obligations of responsibilities towards your children or parents, adultery, stealing, using money selfishly, envy ect…) and don’t confess it to a Catholic Priest before you die, you would lose your salvation. 🤯
    A prominent Catholic website states, “A person who dies in mortal sin cannot enter the kingdom of heaven and is doomed to eternal suffering in hell.”
    I’m so thankful that is not the case, and that my salvation is secure because of my faith in Christ, not my own goodness.

What the point was was that the church as he stated and I believe too makes many believe that they do not have salvation at any moment if they are not as perfect as they can be at all times if that was the case then we might as go back to the law. They live a fearful life waiting to get smote for committing a sin knowingly or unknowingly. A person with salvation and the Holy Spirit will feel the conviction of the sin and ask Christ for forgiveness. The beauty of salvation and being born again is as the armor of God states “the helmet of salvation” I take that as I have a new mind with new thoughts that are not geared as much to go and sin as I used to please. It’s not an instant reversal of all bad habits, sanctification is an ongoing process. Catholics have to realize that just because we are not catholic does not mean we are not saved nor do not understand the word of God, we love and desire to obey the commands of Jesus as much as the next. I feel that the RCC makes it about the rules of getting salvation instead of making Jesus the lord of your life. It feels like they have put so many barriers and steps that it’s just legalism again.

      What I still have trouble understanding: is the Mass propitiatory in nature?
      If so, how is this not a “new sacrifice”, in an unbloody manner?
      If sins are atoned for by Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross, “Once”, then what sins are in need of continued atonement through the RE-presentation of the “once” sacrifice, in a repeated nature (the Mass)?
      I hope I’m articulating this in an understandable way.

    • @TheRealCSD6
      @TheRealCSD6 Před 10 měsíci +1

      @fellow_servant_jamesk8303 I wouldn't use the word "propitiatory." The Eucharist does not mean we have lost God's favor and that now taking part in communion it makes us regain His favor. Yet it does in fact still help purify us when it comes to sin. As it says in 1 John chapter 5 there is sin that causes death and sin that doesn't. To simplify this we call it Mortal and Venial sin. If you are living in a state of repentance away from Mortal sin then it is still greatly recommended to take part in the Eucharist because as a human you still take part in venial sin and venial sin even though it does not cause death it still causes damage to us. The sacrament of the Eucharist works to purify us from such sin. And if you cannot eat of the Eucharist, spending time in the presence of Jesus in such a state will still help you. We call that adoration.

At the Passover meal/Last Supper Jesus did not drink the cup of blessing for after the meal they sang a couple of hymns and then set out for the garden of Gethsamani. Even the elect have to work out their salvation with fear and trembling for God is at work in them to will and to do for his good pleasure.

    • @TimeWillTell651
      @TimeWillTell651 Před 9 měsíci

      Man, you Catholics really twist EVERYTHING lol. “It is finished” in the Greek is the word tetelestai, and that word means “paid in full”. The debt is paid in full. And before this, he lived a perfect life. Roman’s 10:4 says he is the culmination of the law, for righteousness for everyone who believes. Meaning his perfection/righteousness from the obedience he lived is imputed to everyone who places their complete trust in Christ. And the death burial and resurrection washes away their every sin. That’s why it just takes faith. The Man (God) did everything when he walked this earth.
      This is what Catholics are preaching essentially; that a bill of a million dollars owed to God was paid by God himself fully, leaving our balance at 0, but we still have to make payments to him as if we are paying that bill off. That’s called a contradiction my friend. Meaning you don’t believe Jesus saves, because you’re adding to what he did.

      ok first of all, demons don’t seek Christ for salvation. Salvation is offered to humans. So the believing that’s mentioned in James is not about salvation, demons believe that Jesus is God. That’s all it says. It says nothing about demons believing in Jesus for the forgiveness of sins. Believing Jesus is God and believing IN Jesus for your salvation are two different things. 2. Believe means to place your complete trust in Jesus. Look up the Greek definition of believe when mentioned in scripture about believing in Jesus. It’s not believing in his existence or having an empty faith in him. It’s a complete trust placed upon him after you’ve encountered him and been convicted of your sin and presented the gospel afterward. 3. You’re ignoring what I said about Christ imputing everything to you and thus you not needing anything. Like I said, you don’t understand something so simple and that convinces me that your mind is being heavily influenced by fallen angels. Because you and other Catholics come off as disturbed in their thinking. 2 Corinthians 4:3-4. Heck even my own catholic mother had this problem when I spoke the gospel and explained it to her. She argued as if I spoke another language to her and this was years ago. Now she’s slowly waking up and realizing that the Catholic Church is a demonic church and a lie.

If I could be certain of my election, then it would be public revelation. In that case, I could also be certain of my neighbor’s damnation.
    That Christ is the savior is an object of faith. That my soul will be saved is an object of hope. Hope as a virtue stands between presumption, a.k.a. certainty, on the one hand, and despair on the other. Otherwise, there is no role for hope to play in the Christian life and yet we know that the theological virtue of hope is an apostolic teaching.

      Was thinking this too. He said the thing he struggled with most was mass and Marian dogmas. But he then said his friend introduced him to something Iraneus (I think) wrote about how if a Christian does not believe the supper is Christ’s flesh and blood, that they are not true Christians. I have not read the quote, but it seems to me like it could very well be understood symbolically as Christ said it was during the last supper (this is my body and my blood). But we know the disciples were not consuming Christ’s actual flesh at that supper, for Christ did not yet get crucified. So yeah, how anyone can believe Roman Catholic tradition like this is just wild to me. He also said we are all participants in redemption, like we are all co-redeemers. But form Ignatius down to Justin martyr to ireaneus and so on, they all are undeniably confessing a physical presence. Imagine what that looks like to a non-believe. Pure confusion. As we know. Ours is NOT a God of confusion.

      Was it done at his death or at his resurrection? Because his resurrection was also necessary and that didn’t happen until 3 days later. (1 Peter 1:3) (Romans 4:25)
      Christ’s act in redeeming the whole human race and reuniting us with God was complete for our salvation. There is however a verse from Colossians 1:24 that is important to understand: “Now I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake, and in my flesh I am filling up what is lacking in the afflictions of Christ on behalf of his body, which is the church.” As Christ’s body (The Church) our suffering completes the Passion in an external way by conveying its message. This is why the Apostles were martyrs for witnessing to the Gospel and Christ’s crucifixion and resurrection. Our witness and suffering for the sake of Christ’s Body the Church unites Christ’s bride to himself (The Bridegroom).

    How about this instead: "If you don't have, in the work of the cross, a salvation available to ALL people, intended by Father, Son and Spirit in eternity past, then you have a lack of assurance of salvation, since you have a lack of assurance as to whether you're one of the elect."

    Paul said we worship the crucified Christ, not the cross. The cross is a mean if execution, the Crucifix with Jesus on it is The Greatest Love Story Ever Told. There is a big difference between the two.

    Just because we reject the erroneous teachings of Calvinism on what the atonement is does not mean we do not have a finished work. There have been plenty of answers already given by others but the blessed man is the person who is in a state of grace. Has total and complete forgiveness and delivery from sins. But we also confess they can reject the grace of Christ and so deny ghe charity at work in them and walk away from Christ. It is also important to point out James white is confusing accomplishment or effect with application of the atonement. Calvinsim assumed in error that those who christ died for will automatically be forgiven. Catholics would say that the application of that mercy and grace is also necessary. Yet man has to cooperate in faith with that. It's not automatic

    I just had this conversation with a dear friend of mine who is catholic. They have no assurance of salvation. Where's the hope? What's the point of the Cross? They mix justification and sanctification together.

    The fact that Jesus's work on the Cross was finished 2,000 years ago, which the Catholic Church acknowledges and always have, does not mean we can have perfect certainty of our own salvation. That's why we say we have hope. That'd be like saying James White shouldn't be talking in this video because if he believed that the sacrifice were finished, there'd be nothing for him to do.

      @@bigfootapologetics I think you're twisting his words and missing the whole point. James is saying there's nothing for us to do to earn our salvation. Obviously God has things for us to do on this Earth as followers of Him. But that does not include doing things to earn our salvation.

    • @bigfootapologetics

      @@RS54321 That is the point, though. In the same way that you believe we are called to keep the Great Commission, Catholics believe we're called to keep the other things Christ asked us to do. Neither is "doing things to earn our salvation."
      So if saying "the work on the cross is finished, we can't earn our salvation" doesn't mean Christians don't have to do things like evangelize others or the work James White does, it also doesn't mean that we don't have to follow the commands Catholics keep.

    How do Calvinists then explain evil among their ranks? If they say 'well we don't know who the elect will be', how is that different to a Catholic saying they 'hope' to be a saint?
