    Ive been using tempered glass screens on my s7 edge since i bought it. I mountain bike and play alot of gps games so I need that extra protection. I bought a 20$ one from walmart and it applied perfectly, i followed instructions and as an extra step went into the bathroom and turned on shower so steam would prevent dust in the air. Worked perfectly until i dropped it 8 ft face down on gravel and it broke but kept my actual screen safe (so the screen protector did its job). Bought the same one again, applied perfectly. Cracked the protector on travel recently and plan on buying another one. And honestly to me paying 20$ every couple of months to replace a protector is better that paying 100$ for a phone screen replacement every few months.
    While I appreciate the video and the creator for sharing, I would like to say that all screen protectors are different, some are crap, some are meh, some are fantastic. Maybe try several different brands first and then compare. But its an unfair experiment to only try one glass screen in the video and then say to never buy a glass screen. Its an inaccurate conclusion.
    But again I appreciate the video, thanks to the creator, and I hope you continue to improve your videos, have a wonderful day :)

    All the hate here is ridiculous, give the guy a break ... a little friendly advice, always use the alcohol prep wipe to thoroughly remove any finger grease, otherwise merely wiping it with the cloth will not remove the grease, this could have been why the screen protector did not stick properly, but of course it could just be a terrible screen protector, thanks for putting the effort into the vid anyway :)

      +Chris Thank you for finaly being someone that leaves critics in a well behaving manner. This was one of my very early videos I had ever put out on CZcams and I was not very experienced. I know I should probably should have used the alcohol prep pad and all that. I am not particularly proud of the quality of this video at all, just look at my most recent ones and you will see it's like day and night. However, I still stand by that the curved screen of the Galaxy S7 Edge makes it a lot more tricky and irritating to find good screen protectors for it and apply them properly compared to 'flat' phones.

    Okay, couple of things. No hate at all, first of all. I can't stand when people hate for no good reason. Just some pointers, that's all.
    I have just put the exact same protector on my S7 Edge (my dream phone) and it fits perfectly. There's no risk of it coming off or not protecting the device. The camera is crystal clear and the protector even fits my phone case as well. The S7 Edge is able to have tempered glass protectors once they are put on correctly, which can be a bit difficult if you don't do it properly. You did skip a step with the alcohol preparation pad which is crucial when doing this correctly.
    I'm a tech head so please, please, PLEASE, don't tell people not to get tempered glass protectors for their expensive devices. The plastic ones don't give much protection at all. I've had one get a scratch on it that went straight through to the phone itself before. Tempered glass is how you protect your phone's screen. Getting a new screen is expensive as hell and scratches are ugly.
    As for sensitivity, you can go into your settings and fix it under "Language and Input". Go to 'Pointer Speed' and mess around with it until you're satisfied with it. You're putting a second screen on it. Of course, you're going to need to get use to that as well and make adjustments accordingly.
    My advice is to go to a phone store and have one put on for you and have them demonstrate how to do it for future videos, even if you think you know what you're doing. Keep a checklist right next to you to keep up with what you're doing when on camera as not to forget any steps to avoid this from happening again.

  • @Gintch
    @Gintch Před 4 lety

    For people saying that it doesn't adhere because he didn't use a "prep pad" the prep pads included are just for cleaning and NOT for the adhesive itself. Screen protectors with curved edges are terrible because they only have a small bit of adhesive around the screen protectors unlike normal flat ones that cover the entire surface of the screen protector.

  • @omarsiluan
    @omarsiluan Před 7 lety

    I also tried a few bad experiences with these protectors.
    Finally I bought a brand called Force Glass. It fits perfectly and no loss of sensitivity. Bear in mind that if the glass is not placed perfectly straight and centered you will have loss of sensitivity in the upper or lower edges. Make sure you place it carefully.

    Mine's working pretty well and cost me like 15 € with is between 17 and 18 $. It's perfect: well fitted, camera and sensors work fine and the sensivity didn't get worse. You should try and see tutorials on how to put a tempered glass on your phone: first using the alcohol pad, then the fiber cloth and finally the dust remover sticker and only after that you put on the glass. In alternative you can ask for an employee working in a store that sells that kinds of stuff to do it for you

    Yeah tempered glass and the s7 edge do not like each other at all. I feel sorry for the folks actually paying 56.00 for the Zagg tempered glass screen protector for the s7 edge. None them work with a case period. If you do manage to get a case on it with the tempered glass screen protector, you can't lay the phone face down without the glass touching whatever surface the phone is rested on. I have the Spigen Curved Crystal HD plastic protector on my phone and my protection insurance that's really all you need. Stop wasting money on tempered glass protectors. The stories of successfully installing one with a case are marginal at best and does not represent the vast majority of people who have failed at installing them along with a case they actually like. The sad thing is that there are company's out there that are all too willing to take full advantage of someone trying to protect that fresh new S7 edge phone....ZAGG being the worst offender of them all at 56.00...lol!!! It comes with a lifetime replacement warranty, but heck..you already paid for the next screen protector in advance!
    The S7 edge is an awesome phone but WILL break easily if dropped without any protection on it at all. Anyone not using a case for this phone must either be a kardashian and have plenty of money to buy another one at 800.00, or they just have no clue how easy it is to break this phone. My suggestion, if you are lucky enough to own one of these phones...one get a good case, and two get some sort of plastic screen protector to keep the screen from getting everyday scratches from minerals and other stuff on your finger tips. In case you didn't know...minerals WILL scratch corning gorilla glass very easily. Oh and three make sure you have insurance just in case all that protection doesn't work.
    Hopefully Samsung will make the next phone with protection from dropping and cracking the glass in mind.

    I think the main reason why the majority of tempered curved glass screen protectors don't work well is because they do not have the adhesive spread amongst the entire surface of the screen. The several ones I have dealed with only have adhesive along the borders, which pretty much creates a huge air bubble under the screen itself thus dulling down the sensitivity. Plus most cases will fit on top with a glass screen as the cases have been made to fit precise measurements

    I use a UAG case for my S7 Edge- they're a bit pricey but they have a lip on the front so when laying the phone face down the screen doesn't touch anything, and (as far as I'm concerned at least) have bumpers along the sides that actually let you hold the phone without randomly touching things on the edge screen. The guy at my carrier store even said it's a bad idea to buy a screen protector for it, so I didn't.

  • @anshusnowhite
    @anshusnowhite Před 8 lety

    Very True. A tempered glass screen protector is not good for the S7 Edge Phone. It decreases the sensitivity of the entire screen as it does not stick on very well. I bought some thing around $20 but it did not work well at all. Now am using a plastic screen protection which is much better.

  • @cyberwasp461
    @cyberwasp461 Před 6 lety

    you should use the alcohol prep and put the protector on immediately after peeling it. But the curved edges make it difficult for any tempered glass to stick. ZAGG is currently re designing there's as it only sticks for about a month. So far the wet ones are the best. Even with one, if the screen is hit, it will more than likely damage the screen.

  • @ClassicRedEye
    @ClassicRedEye Před 7 lety

    1: You didn't use the wipe which removes grease which is most likely why it isn't sticking.
    2: If it was sticking down properly the sensitivity would be fine.
    3: You can turn the capacitive touch sensitivity up in settings.

    you have to extensively read reveiws for tempered glass for s7 and edges. ive had mine on for months woth NO problem. ive even took it off to readjust it and it still sticks just fine. it has to be applied precisely to foem around the edges and it helps to blow the screen protector with a hair dryer to get the adhesive warm (after you get it on there good) getting it warm helps it stick way better and rub your fingers around the screen protector to make sure its stuck on there well.
    i will say its hard to find a screen protector that gives full coverage to the phone and still be compatible with a case. but im cool with that because i dont like cases, it ruins the design. lol. but yea ive experienced alot of crap with buying screen protectors for my s7.

    I had a professional put it on in the shop, I watched him do it and it took him a lot longer to put on. It looked as if you literally just dropped it on without smoothing out properly or anything - that'd be what the clicking sound was and why you're getting a decrease in sensitivity. I have no problems with my tempered glass screen. Don't put out reviews making products you can't use look bad.

There is no tempered glass protection available for the G s7 Edge, that actually adhesive over the entire contact side to glass display, which is why there is a sensitivity issue. I personally recommend Otterbox's Alpha Glass. It only sticks to the top and bottom of the screen, not the sides. I haven't had any sensitivity issues at all, as long as it's installed correctly. It is as Otterbox says, "case friendly". I can put whatever case I want because the protector doesn't sit flush up against the edges of the display. The only downside to this protector is that it only comes in Onyx Black. Price varies where you decide to purchase it, mine was about $25.

    Another tip for you..."mister adviser" :
    there's a Dust Absorber Sticker that needs to be used before application procedure, especially around the edges where glue sticks! Bet you didn't have a clue what's that!
    When applying the screen protector you'll need to use both hands ( not one 😂) and align the screen protector perfectly to match the device and gently drop it on. After, you need to press in the middle of the screen to eliminate the gap between the two screens also to expand the curved edges, being flexible ( hence the gap created at the bottom you shown 😂 ) and work from centre toward edges! Also required bit of rubbing the edges afterwards because that where the glue sticks ( obviously you didn't know this either) !! You confusing Edge models with iPhone's which have flat screen also glue all over which again, not the case on Edge models.
    I applied 100's of S6 and S7 Edge models and this video literally make me

At least that's enough for me to but a "Do not buy" stamp on it. It is obvious that the curved screens doesn't really cooperate very well with tempered glass protectors, plastic ones are so much easier to put on and fits very well.

      +Isabel McIvor I am glad you appreciate the video! Yes don't go for a glass one, I would go for a thin clear plastic protector instead, I have tried one of those too and it basically worked flawlessly. That's probably what I am going to go back to soon myself because it just seems pointless spending money on these tempered glass protectors that just don't work very well.

    I had a professional do this for me and DID follow directions. After I left on my way home, I heard this clicking sound! It doesn’t stick right and I have to push down extra hard just to text. This is 2 years after this review was made. I should have checked this out before actually purchasing this. I prefer the soft plastic covers.

  • @kyogrix
    @kyogrix Před 8 lety

    I've tried using a couple of tempered glasses... They totally ruined the experience of touch at the curved edges. At best, you can get a plastic film to prevent scratches. In my experience, the default Corning gorilla glass 4 should be enough protection for the screen (Have a plastic film just to be on the safer side). A good case is all you will need to protect your phone from most mishaps.

    Dude u need to clean the screen with alcohol before applying the guard

    • @TheSwedishTechGuy
      @TheSwedishTechGuy  Před 8 lety

      +Shaman Bhat I don't think that would have made any difference at all anyway. The alcohol will evaporate and the screen will be just like before but cleaner. It won't act as some kind of sticky glue or anything if that's what you mean.

    • @ShamanBhat
      @ShamanBhat Před 8 lety +1

      +HQ-In-Depth-Tech no not like glue but it will remove all the oil marks from finger prints and all so the screen protector will stick on property (but if the guard is screwed up then yeah it's screwed up)

    • @TheSwedishTechGuy
      @TheSwedishTechGuy  Před 8 lety

      +Shaman Bhat That's true, but the main reason I did not use the alcohol prepad was because every time I have used one of those on my cellphones my screen end up looking more smudgy than before I started cleaning it.

      @TheSwedishTechGuy  Před 8 lety

      +Helena Biturajac Well the pads you get with the protector have so little alcohol in them that before I have cleaned the whole screen and started to put the protector on, the alcohol already evaporated so I don't see how it will help anyway.

    Please don't dissuade people from protecting their devices. The plastic protectors do nothing at all. They protect from scratches, but current gorilla glass should already do that. Tempered glass protects from shattering. Do some research, buy a good brand, and use the alcohol wipe. The adhesive isn't going to stick to the screen with your finger print oil all over it.

    Everyone posting hate - this guy did nothing wrong. The vast majority of screen protectors for curved screens are just shit. Glass surfaces that do not even touch the actual screen. The only one that I saw so far that should work fine is from Spigen. So after filing a frustrated return for one of the worst products ever - a curved glass with thick glue on the sides that doesn't even stick correctly, I will now think about getting the other one, which unfortunately is extremely overpriced in Europe.

    try to heat it with hair dryer and press the glue. it gonna more sticky and increase sensitivity

  • @BCRhythmGuitarShowBFMV

    I've got a glas screenprotector on my s7 edge too. but it's crap(in my opinion) front cam takes blurry pictures now. and the touch sensitivity it worthless. have to press hard on some screen/keypad area. and on some points there's also a clicking noise when you press down on the screen, so in my opinion you're better off with a plastic screenprotector. also doesnt make your front cam look blurry.

Just installed one right now and your video auto-played. no sticks, perfect match as always. no cutouts for the camera as u have, but no problems with it even if im pointing a direct light on it...
    I bought one which i knew that it was shit so indeed it was ....not sticking properly (The protection itself it was bent in the middle of the screen) but I knew what to expect for 1$ protection just cause i didn't had time to go in the city and find a proper one :D
