  • This was a harder video to film. I kept it as raw as I could but still trying to be encouraging to others. For what it's worth....

    I’m reading this today, many years since you posted. My heart goes out to you and your family. You are weary from the fight. I get that and the days can seem endless. I raised a child who struggle with behavioral challenges and I see me in you. The exhaustion, the feeling that one hug will break me down, and the feeling that even an hour break isn’t really helpful as I have the rest of the 23 hours to deal. It was the hardest thing I ever did. The unending tension, always waiting for “the next shoe to drop” , trying to not get sucked into his negativity. Fast forward to today. Son is gainfully employed, in a stable relationship, and doing well. He still needs me to be his cheerleader and encourage him. But he is doing well. I totally agree that people would do best just to offer support and not advice. In hindsight I should have accepted offers of friends to bring meals, etc...but we made it thru. Prayers for you💕

    Thank you for sharing. My husband also suffers from depression. He always says that it just affects him, but that is so far from the truth. My son and I feel it and also have to help him carry his burden. Some days it takes all that I am, to be strong enough , to pray enough for the right words for my husband AND my son. God bless you and your family.

      I am so sorry. Yes, it is very hard and you want them to be able to see the truth but in the end, you have to just trust that they will be able to get through the day. And we fight for that.

      I've experienced both sides. I have bipolar and PTSD, my 17 year old son has bipolar, ODD, OCD,ADHD, my 13 year old has autism, my 8 year old has Mood disorder NOS, ADHD, ODD, PTSD, Intermittent Explosive Disorder. Education and advocacy is sooo important. Sadly my husband is not big on educating himself.

      I am sorry. So much to learn and signs to read and, Whew! Girl, I'm praying that you receive strength every day. I pray that "weeping may endure for the night, but the joy will come in the morning," and I pray that there will be an end to it all. Let me know if you ever need anything that I can do. :)

    First of all, BIG HUGS! You both are going through hard times thru depression. I pray you will get a break and EVEN a break thru where complete healing will take place but even so I totally understand. KEEP reassuring him and loving on him! I did pick a book on "Battlefield of the Mind" by Joyce Meyer. It is quit good! I recommend your husband and yourself to read it also for your children. Joyce has one for children and teens. It will help bring out the positives and focus on the blessings in our lives. Because surely Satan loves to push us down and spew lies, I mean that is his cunning and deceitful ways, isn't it? I UNDERSTAND SISTER, I UNDERSTAND. It isn't a FIX* (this book) BUT it does shed some light into our thinking. BUT I do know for myself, sometimes you do wake up and feel ALREADY under a dark cloud (like the donkey from Winnie the Pooh). I never asked darkness to come........ but it is there. It it takes more energy to fight it off..... I do lean on Jesus and sometimes I cry out His Name and tell Satan to BACK OFF AND LEAVE. Sometimes it works, lol......... But sometimes ....... I pray and hope it passes....like a bad toothache.....

      @SodbusterLiving  Před 7 lety +1

      Big hugs and prayers. I will have to see if I can find that book! Thank you for your suggestion! But I do agree that this is another ploy from Satan to weaken us Christians. "Are you really a Christian? If you were, would you be feeling this despair? You must not be a Christian!" That is the devil talking for sure! Screwtape Letters anyone? Love to you and thank you for commenting!

      it has shown thru MRI that depression is a disease. I tend to keep both in mind. (both a battle with darkness and sickness) Because I do believe hormones have a lot to do with this too amongst many other factors (a trauma in life, etc). I would NOT take meds though, knowing the side affects are linked to suicide.
