I ran 50 to 1 on my 465 using Bel-Ray synthetic two stroke oil. It runs better, smells better and smokes way less. I raced Moto-x and hare scrambles and trail rode it quite a bit and never broke down or even wore out the stock piston.
I'd agree that it should be warmed a bit,but more to protect the piston and rings from breaking.Air cooled motors didn't have anywhere near as much trouble with cold seizures as liquid cooled bikes. They would be more likely to lock up when they were hot! lol.Liquid cooled bike have closer tolerances so they need the extra warm up time
Does anyone know wether these had four or five speed transmission ? I had an "82" RM465Z but it only had a four speed tranny. I'm wondering if they went to a five speed when they bumped it up to a 500.

I grew up with Suzuki's RM80 125 250. Suzuki has come a long way. With modern Suzuki GSXR 1000 these bikes are unreal

Calm down, it was somewhat of a joke. Yes, I would ride one with drum brakes. But no, drum brakes will never be as good as disk brakes.
