Who has never watched (or suffered?) the Festival of Sanremo can not understand all these digressions, incessant palaver, interruptions, the whimsical and casual side: it's Italy and this is what makes its charm . As for the vote, it was really captivating. Very good songs (France, Israel, Spain ...) quickly established themselves and finally ... unfortunately it is once again a little rhythmic catchphrase, heard so many times on Eurovision, very visual but soulless that has imposed itself thanks to a completely mind-boggling stupidity regulation. A tie is a tie and we do not hack to leave, in the end, a bitter taste of misunderstanding and injustice.

Under current tie break rules France would have won as they had points from more countries than Sweden despite Sweden getting more 10s (they were also tied on how many 12s they got)
This year's voting is ridiculous!😅 That's because of Toto, Gigliola tried to make it right but Toto...😂 Maybe it's because they're not professional hosts
When voting was fun! Many good songs that year. The French and Spanish song are Eurovision anthems even they did not win. Also Swiss Greek Cypriot Israel Maltese entries were one of the best that those countries sent. Probably the last original Eurovision song contest after that Yugoslavia was dissolved (1992 last entry), Luxembourg departed (last entry 1993), Italy departed (last entries 1993 & 1997 until 2011), 1998 end of live orchestra, in 1999 language restriction lifted and the result is to have a political circus song contest than more united European song contest. Now there are lot voting rings: Scandinavian bloc (Norway, Swede, Finland, Denmark, Iceland), Greek Cypriot bloc (Greece, Cyprus), Eastern bloc (former communist states), ex Yugoslavia bloc, the Balkan bloc, Muslim immigrants in Europe voting Turkey, Azerbaijan or Albania, the Turkey Azerbaijan bloc, Romania Moldova bloc, Did I missed anyone? Now Eurovision is more unfair, political, just another contest and it sucks
Completely agree. It always was somewhat political, the Scandinavian bloc and Greece-Cyprus thing was present even in the 70s-80s but it’s definitely gotten worse since after 1998. All those changes you point out ruined it. I would also say I miss the old days of them talking to them over a phone it was quicker. Now it’s all they babble on and you can see their faces etc it’s just crap plus I hate how they’ve done away with announcing each point and just go straight to saying the 12.

@Giorgio Fegatini Italy hasn't participated from 1998 to 2010 so it's safe to say the reason why we had no chance of winning in the 00's is that we weren't there xD Since when we came back we deservedly went close a lot of times though, and it is time for us to win again to make these people who think 1991 was our true potential shut up :"
It is not just the presentation that is hilariously bad, it is the camera direction as well that is appalling there are too many shots of the green room and the presenters, and too little of the scoreboard to the point of making it difficult to follow what is going on.
I felt my country, Spain, could win that night. I recall that day very well. I have watched euro vision since 1984, and 1991 was the only time we had real chances to win, even if we came second in 95, but Anabel Conde never led the scoreboard. Sergio was leading for a while as the votes were being cast, so that's why I say that's the only time when I felt my country could win. I think we will never live this again. Besides, we have not been top 5 since 1995. WHAT A SHAME TVE
That's because RTVE either sends lousy songs (2022, 2019, 2017, 2016...) or doesn't know how to properly promote and/or work with those that stand a chance (2018, 2012, 2011, 2010, 2001, 2000)... Let's not even mention all the great songs that get blindsided in the pre-selection ("Calle de la llorería," "Estrella fugaz," etc.)
No entiendo por qué en Madrid 1969, permitieron un cuádruple empate y en Roma no, total aquí solo era Suecia y Francia y ambas canciones dignas de ser primera posición, muy diferentes propuestas pero muy válidas ambas dos.
@DanBdx68 the countback rule was introduced in 1989 and was published in the rulebook that all broadcasters had to read and agree to if they wanted to take part in the contest.
Tha's a joke. France's song was one of the best ever and it's a solid song without the Eurovision standards. Very moving, unusual, soft, inspiring with lovely lyrics. Shame...
Carola is a great singer and artist. She is great on stage. In my oppinion, Swedish song wasn't the best of the evening, but she was the best performer.
@@antonioductorgil I still don't understand why Spain was robbed with such a powerful ballad, Italy didn't give any points to Spain neither Denmark. Some other juries gave low points to Spain. @Giorgio Fegatini Italy hasn't participated from 1998 to 2010 so it's safe to say the reason why we had no chance of winning in the 00's is that we weren't there xD
Since when we came back we deservedly went close a lot of times though, and it is time for us to win again to make these people who think 1991 was our true potential shut up :"
Well they won't 2021 so here's hoping their hosting isn't bad as 30 years ago lmao
Guess what
It's a shame that both didn't win
GaminGeek FR
In 1968 it was a tie between four countries and they were all declared joint winners 😂😜
az929292 did you mean 1969
az929292 did you mean 1969
I know right? I too think they should have won both
It is not just the presentation that is hilariously bad, it is the camera direction as well that is appalling there are too many shots of the green room and the presenters, and too little of the scoreboard to the point of making it difficult to follow what is going on.
where was the scoreboard???
there
I am currently making a version of this with the scoreboard/leaderboard in view.
The hosts really do think its all about them and make sure the cameras are on them
I felt my country, Spain, could win that night.
34:10 I love the NICE gesture from the french-tunisian singer and the israeli singers - PEACE !!!! beautiful!
Toto was catastrophic with hosting skills, but that made the show interesting.
33:46 Carola went to the toilets...
She celebrated the 12 points by taking a shit hahaha
M Vns : hahaha not funny
I'm Italian and glad that in 30 yeats we've evolved our organization
yeah with that broken sun
Lol Toto is absolutely hilarious 🤣
These hosts are horrible! Poor France.....
wheres the fucking scoreboard!? Basically we only see the hosts
No entiendo por qué en Madrid 1969, permitieron un cuádruple empate y en Roma no, total aquí solo era Suecia y Francia y ambas canciones dignas de ser primera posición, muy diferentes propuestas pero muy válidas ambas dos.
@DanBdx68 Ok Ok thakyou so much for this información
@DanBdx68 the countback rule was introduced in 1989 and was published in the rulebook that all broadcasters had to read and agree to if they wanted to take part in the contest.
Wow, Terry really didn't like this!! 😂😂
Tha's a joke. France's song was one of the best ever and it's a solid song without the Eurovision standards. Very moving, unusual, soft, inspiring with lovely lyrics. Shame...
Still salty after 25 years?
ReboutZ
Yes, it's one of the biggest injustices of the last 25 years! Forget wars, hunger and climate change!
Nah. Sweden was better.
MncDssctn
Agree 😜
Rules are rules. Sweden got more 12s. Simple as.
Mamma mia! quel bordel a foutu cet italien! Toto, un italiano vero...
Capured by a lovestorm is so good but i feel bad for france
It's funny how he said, you need to say the points quicker since I need to repeat them in 3 languages, or else we will be here till 2 in the morning.
Carola is a great singer and artist. She is great on stage. In my oppinion, Swedish song wasn't the best of the evening, but she was the best performer.
That female host wat not that bad
That male presenter was mixing up with everyones talking . Be quiet man .
Sorry, Spain was far better than the rest, although I love fangad av en stormvind.
Spain was the best by far
@@antonioductorgil I still don't understand why Spain was robbed with such a powerful ballad, Italy didn't give any points to Spain neither Denmark. Some other juries gave low points to Spain. Sweden overrated as usual, good dancing but weak song. Israel overrated. It should be Spain vs France. Nowadays with the new rules in place France would have won.
43:21 me and the danish population love Eurovision :-D
29 years ago.
That’s why Aliens won’t talk to us
I watched this to see how they handled the tie break which was a bit anticlimactic and I wonder how a tie break would he handled today, though I guess its less likely to happen now.
The video was still entertaining for other reasons though!
i watched this live :)
viva la france
Carola definitely deserved to win😍😍💕💕. My fav winner ever 😘
It's somewhere at my bottom of winners. My favorite winner ever was 1983
I prefere the swedish version to the english one of Carola´song. Much better.
As an Italian, I can say you: that is the normal level of english 😐
Please do better in 2022. The 1991 Contest really sucked. Sorry to say.
italy is the same with hosting in 2022 ahahah. But i love them
Complete chaos. One of the worst tv presenters in ESC history.
❤❤❤
